Thanks for becoming a zoologist for my sake 🥰 I would have loved to take a lioness or a tiger, but damn they eat a lot..I'll chose a female jaguar, named Krenari, then! And live my H'annit from Octopath Traveler fantasy. Let me know how much Intelligence and hp she ends up having. Then I'll think about what tricks Kaelestia'll teach her. I'm so excited **

Dog's easy; they're even in the PHB for purchase in the equipment section: Guard, hunting and war. They're quite smart, too. Squirrels are possible. They have an INT of 1, so limited to only learning a few tricks. Not sure how much to charge for a trained one. I guess 1 CP? Oh boy Squirrels are cheap lol I'll buy a dozen they have problems getting run over when crossing the roads. Crazy wagon drivers don't slow down.
I think I'll just go with the hunting dog it makes the most sense I think.

Okay, this is the order Kaelestia will follow in teaching Krenari tricks: - Attack - Stay - Come - Heel - Track - Guard
Obviously she won't finish teaching everything before the beginning of the next adventure, so tell me which ones she manages to do.
And I'll buy some meat for feeding her too.

Alright, a hunting hound is 17 stl, so if that's okay, I'll go ahead and stat it up for you.
As for the jaguar, I'll say it takes a week to find her, so that will leave you three weeks of training. So Attack, Stay, and Come. How much meat? Salted meat is something like a silver a pound. Also, where does she store it? I have to assume keeping it on Ferd is a bad idea.

Do we have a couple of barrels on our ship? Otherwise I'll buy those too. Do you think I'll have to carry the meat during the adventure too? I think I've read somewhere that animal companions are supposed to hunt on their own when on land (?) But otherwise I'll think of something. Also welcome back Tristen!

Okay, Sha'al is fully leveled up now.
And yes, she can hunt on her own, depending on the circumstances and terrain. Like, obviously she can't when you're out at sea, or if you were in say, tundra or desert areas (not that I predict we'll be at either any time soon).
Anyway, so she'll purchase a small barrel to leave on the ship. How much salted meat does she buy to put in said barrel?

Do you think a couple of weeks worth of salted meat would be reasonable? I doubt we stay at sea for longer periods of time after all.

That should be more than enough for a single adventure. So that's around 14 pounds, so around 14 silver pieces then?
