Okay, I think I'm all set then. I only need to know how much time it passes inbetween adventures to deal with Krenari's tricks.

if it is the way of seafaring Arthogate will not be going along. I would rather create something more suitable for such an adventure. Or gracefully bow out.

Um. Does putting a shield take an action/turn? Just saying, that when a mage is out of spell slots it might be benefical Equipping a shield would take an action, yes. Okay, I think I'm all set then. I only need to know how much time it passes inbetween adventures to deal with Krenari's tricks. Now that we know where the party is going (Jennison), I can calculate that. Looks like...about 250 miles? So based on the speed of the Dark Squall...I'd say six days. So we'll pick up the day after they arrive, so 7 days total. if it is the way of seafaring Arthogate will not be going along. I would rather create something more suitable for such an adventure. Or gracefully bow out. Uhh...okay, do what you have to do, I guess. You can roll up a new character from scratch over in the Character Creation thread if you want. I don't really understand what it is about Arthogate that you think makes him incompatible with a brief naval quest, though. He doesn't wear heavy armor, he knows how to swim, and he's been a crewman of the Dark Squall this entire time. He can fight normally, he still has access to all of his class abilities at sea (it's not like he's built for mounted combat or a specific terrain or something), so I'm at a loss as to what the exact problem is, personally. But just to be clear, even if everyone changed their votes over to the exploration quest, we'd still have to do the naval one afterward. There are no other options for this party at this level beyond those two, not until they reach level 5 (and neither quest alone is enough to get the party there).

Well, at hat point I probably would just retire from the game Daos. After all of that seafaring game play in the other game I really have had my fill of it. I don't really like my character anymore to be honest. But maybe I'm just done with the game i really don't know at this point.

What level of seafaring are we talking about in the module? Like full blown ship vs ship battle, or just like roleplaying scenes where we are on a ship going from point A to point B?
GreyWolf what exactly are you afraid you won't like about playing a seafaring adventure with Arthogate? And what you don't like about your pg?

If it's specifacly about the character, I think Daos said you can roll a new one...
Or maybe it's something that can be reworked with Arthogate?

What level of seafaring are we talking about in the module? Like full blown ship vs ship battle, or just like roleplaying scenes where we are on a ship going from point A to point B? It's largely the latter. There is one (1) ship to ship fight, but it's completely optional--depends on the party's choices. All other combats take place on solid land. And yes, GreyWolfVT, if there's a problem with this game, your character, or my DMing style that is preventing you from enjoying yourself, I can attempt to help accommodate you, but only if I can understand what the problem actually is. What, exactly, is the issue or issues here? What is it exactly that you don't like about naval games? Ship to ship combat? Fighting sea monsters? The buckling of swashes? Peg legs and parrots? If the problem is Arthogate, then what exactly is wrong with him? Is it something that can be changed, or does he really need to be scrapped altogether? Is it a roleplay issue or a mechanical one? Without knowing more, I can't really do much.

It's not your DMing style. I just don't feel Arthogate is exactly equipped to properly last long periods of time on the sea in battles he uses a bow and warhammer/axe combination. He's mostly a land going barbarian that yes has sailed one instance with almost no fighting involved on the seas aside for being taken captive by minotaur pirates. I don't think he would be good at ship to ship fighting and certainly not right for fighting sea monsters. But that could just my me thinking. Pretty much after whatever the game name was can't find it with all of the pirate hunting, and other adventures on the sea I pretty much was good with sea adventuring long term. I'm just not really feeling it.
Does not help that my mood this weekend is not great I just had to put a pet down early in the morning Saturday. My mindset is not 100%, my other ferret that was diagnosed with cancer was having a hard time breathing and we had to drive to an emergency vet to have him put down so that he did not have to suffer anymore.
I haven't been up for much this weekend aside from staring mindlessly at the TV.

From what Daos is saying, it seems that the ships themselves will only be the background to the story. I don't think we'll fight sea monster, and I don't think anyone in this party is particularly equipped to dealing with them (to be honest, Arthogate with his bow would probably be one of the best equipped among us lol) And I'm sorry about your pets, it doesn't seem an easy time for you

I'm sorry for your loss.
Look, tell you what. If you aren't feeling this, you can just sit this one out. The remaining five of the party should be enough to tackle the adventure, especially as they'll have plenty of NPC assistance. And furthermore, Arthogate will still be there the whole time, on the ship, he just will be an NPC that won't actively participate. So if you change your mind at any point, you can just hop back in and resume control of him. And failing that, you're welcome to resume when the adventure is over and we choose the next one.
And if you feel you need to retool Arthogate some, we can talk about that in the meantime. Or roll up someone new.
Meanwhile, I'll start work on the new adventure tonight and hopefully will try to get up the next chapter by tomorrow night.
