As they talk, the party hears the pounding of hooves up ahead. A group of seven riders approaches down the road, kicking up a cloud of dust behind them. They look to be mostly human and cast frequent glances behind them as they ride. They will reach the party in about a minute's time.

Drezden casually steps back out of the path of the riders and motions for the others to do the same. Meanwhile leaving the dead goblins where they are having no care if they get trampled or not.

Gribben helps the wounded off the road before the riders come. THere in a hurry maybe we should hide ourselves.

Elvarian and Gribben hide behind the nearby rock, while Drezden and Eringard remain in the open. When the riders reach them, they come to a stop. "Hail there, and well met," says the leader, a bearded man with brown hair. "We had received word some goblins were harassing folks on the road." He glances at the dead bodies. "I take it you have already dealt with the matter then?" He looks Drezden and Eringard over, but his eyes are particularly drawn to the latter. "I see that you wear the garb of Lathander. I take it to mean you two are trustworthy then. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Randal Morn, the true ruler of Daggerdale." "The Zhentarim, a cruel organization, usurped my throne and hold Dagger Falls, the town further down this road. I've done what I can to fight against them. But lately my spies in the town have told me a terrible sickness has fallen there. They call it the 'Dream Fever.' Once someone becomes ill with it, they fall into a deep slumber and never rouse, until they finally waste away and die. I wish I could investigate it myself, but were I to try and enter Dagger Falls, I would be attacked on sight by the Zhentarim there. They are led by a cowardly man named Constable Tren. Be wary, should you encounter him." He looks back over his shoulder, then back to the two before him. "Will you be willing to look into this sickness for me then? If successful, you would earn my thanks and my gold."

Drezden "Indeed there were goblins here killed some but a few ran when they saw that we got the upper hand in combat. You know of the smelly vermin are once they lose the advantage they flee. Yes we took care of em, though two more I travel with hid not knowin if you were Zhents or goodly folk. As for the sickness that'd be up to the healer there." the dwarf indicates the disciple of Lathander.

Elvarian also rises and walks into view. Giving a bow to the man.

Randal nods to Gribben and Elvarian once they appear. "Well met," he says. "And my thanks, but I'd urge you not to go up against the Zhentarim. Nothing short of a massive army will uproot them from Daggerdale, I'm afraid. Certainly beyond the power of a small group like yourselves. But if you can investigate this new sickness, find the cause and if all possible, find a cure, I'll be grateful. I wish I could be of more help. All I know for sure is that the disease is likely magical in origin. I've never heard of a natural sickness that works like that."

Drezden "Would you think perhaps it be the work of the Zhents? I've heard rumors of some of their doings and to me sounds like something one of there clerics or mages might stoop to doing."

Eringard had listened silently as was her custom with new acquaintances, she had acknowledged Randal Morn's introduction of himself with a nod. she looks deep inthought when he speaks of the illness befalling Dagger falls, indeed she searches her memory for any parallels she encountered during her studies. When everybody else is silent, she simply says. "I am a healer. Of course I will see to the sick in Dagger Falls."
(OOC: Has she heard of anything like it?)

Eringard thinks carefully but does not recall any sort of disease that works the way Randal describes. But once in town, she can investigate the illness more thoroughly.
"I thank you then, in advance," Morn states. "But I must not tarry here. Zhent patrols will be along sooner or later, hunting for my men and myself. So we must be off. But, should you succeed in stopping the disease, make your way to the Red Rock Tavern, just outside of the town's walls. I will have a man there waiting for you with your reward. Farewell, and may the gods smile upon you."
With that, Randal and his men spur their horses forward down the road, leaving the party and the dead goblins in their wake. Dagger Falls is just a bit further down the road. They should be able to reach it by noontime, assuming no further interruptions.

With Randal Morn out ot sight, Eringard lowers her head for a short prayer. Then she looks up and turns to her companions. "Let us go on then, to find shelter and a place to rest. I don't say safety, because the fever and the Zhents make the town less safe than it should be."

Drezden "Indeed let us get off this road and to at least what can be called shelter. Safety as you said aint likely to be found round here."
