If Jason's parents thought Sigil was 'safe' either they had warped senses of humor or this Eternal Empire thing is way, way worse than I can imagine.

Jason's mentor. Not his parents.

I did a little bit of reading about beetles while coming up with little details to pepper into Sebastian's backstory, and came up with this little gem on Wikipedia: 25% of all known animal species are beetles?! Also, I listed my 2000 XP worth of wonderous items on my character sheet, but put them in whispertext so that only Knightsfalltoo can see them. Maybe you all want to follow suit, and that could be the equivalent of the "character secrets" we have over in the Gontoria game? Just a thought. Also also, Heather: when you work out the details of how your character was transported to Sigil, you should share that info here, so I can figure out if Sebastian likewise got here that way, and can craft his backstory to match that.

Welcome to my world Robot. There are so many beetle species it's unreal. So many many bugs. There are like 3,500 different types of mosquito, Texas has like 30...my job is mind boggling.

Umm...where are the Wonderous Items located? They're listed in the back of the Dungeon Master's Guide, in Appendices 2 and 3 (2 lists them in tables, and 3 gives their descriptions). They aren't called ' Wonderous' in the book -- I think Knights just threw that in there for descriptive flavor. I'm sure someone has linked it to you before, but just in case you've forgotten...most of the 2e books are available here, including the DMG.

I knew this because of Neil Gaiman's Sunbird. and I'll thank you, because I couldn't remember the name of the story so I had to go get my old copy of Fragile Things, and my favorite poem of all time is in Fragile Things so I spent a little while reading some of the stories and they are just so good.

It is known. I haven't gotten around to Fragile Things yet, so that's going on the reading list.

Theron, in my own Dragonlance games, I always ruled that 1 STP = 1 GP for simplicity. So a short sword costs 10 STP. Thieves' Picks cost 30 STP. And so on. Although that's something to consider, for both Sebastian and Heather's character. Steel coins will be completely useless in Sigil. Then again, clerics are expected to give up all but a handful of their coin after character creation anyway, so it probably won't really matter much.

I'll get that info out as soon as I can. I have an essay due on Tuesday next week, so I might not be able to get any backstory info out to you until next week.

If you haven't gotten to Good Omens yet read that one first You don't honestly think I'd skip the collaboration between the Great Gaiman and Sir Terry Freakin' Pratchett, the guy who was knighted with a sword he forged from a freakin' meteor, do you? (I've read most of Gaiman's stuff...the only ones I haven't gotten to, off the top of my head, are Fragile Things and Anansi Boys. I'm probably forgetting a few, though. And I definitely haven't read enough Pratchett.) Yeah, that's what I wound up going with. Dealing with the whole 20 silver = 1 steel and 5 copper = 1 silver was still a pain, though...what were Weis and Hickman thinking, abandoning the simple math of keeping their currency based on powers-of-ten?? I'm glad we're not playing Dragonlance No worries. I got the impression that Knightsfalltoo still needs some time to prep things on his end, so there's no rush. I'll just leave a placeholder in that bit of my backstory, and we can collaborate on filling in those parts whenever you have the time. Does the time frame that Daos and I were talking about earlier -- just after the War of the Lance -- work for you? And...it looks like Tiriara has higher stats than Sebastian across the board, with the exception of INT (where he has one point higher). Nope, I don't feel inferior or insecure about that at all (Just kidding, in case it's not obvious. Him being underwhelming in most respects is what I was going for, so the contrast between our clerics ought to help accentuate that.)

I went ahead and counted up everyone's rolls, and it looks like Heather actually got the highest numbers so far out of everyone--55 points. I doubt I can beat that.

I might be able to get some work on it today actually after I get back from a dinner that I have planned with a few co-workers. The time frame, though, works out just fine. Like Daos mentioned (because he knows me so well) that is the time frame I'm most familiar with. Yeah, I got some lucky rolls last night. I kind of like this rolling method! Though, since your cleric is based more on knowledge and mine is mostly a healing type of cleric, it works out. They both have something different to contribute to the party. I do want to point out that this reaction to Mas'erin is only in the beginning. Tiriara is going to grow more over time, and eventually she isn't going to see Mas'erin as someone that she is better than (and that is going to go for all of the characters). Though, I am curious about this dynamic in the beginning before she changes and before he suddenly explodes on her.
