I can confirm that no such spell exists in 2E. It must have been created in 3E. Ah, I don't have that one. It kind of sounds like the spirits from Dragon Age, though. A fantasy author who has a real penchant for 'rape as drama.' I was just waiting for you to give permission. He can post now. A 2nd level priest spell, yes, from the Tome of Magic. We can set it to once a day, but whenever it is used it drains the user, making them 'nearly comatose and can do nothing but rest for the next 4d6 turns,' so I figured a set use isn't really necessary. It's certainly not something that could be used all the time.

That works for me Daos. An incarnate probably wouldn't work well as a character in the game...as the communication and lack of a corporeal form thing tends to hamper party involvement. Now someone possessed by a spirit...ala Dragon Age, works wonders. It leads to heavy drama, and allows us to reveal the idea that the character is really two people?

Yeah, there were some really good examples in Dragon Age. An old woman who was possessed by a spirit of Faith right before she would have died. The spirit saved her life, and enhances her healing powers, but in doing so it shortens its own life. One day it will run out of energy, and she'll die for real.
Or a spirit of Justice that possessed a corpse. It was disoriented when it first arrived in the Prime and didn't realize the difference between a living person and a dead one, but now it's stuck with it, so it's basically a zombie paladin.

All good stuff...
The sequel has the mage with Justice and then you meet Cole in the third one...plus succubus cat. Man I love the way they did some of that.

Are we bringing in the content from Tome of Magic wholesale for this game, Knights? I'm not strongly opinionated on it either way...I've skimmed some of it here and there, and I remember some of the spells in there showing up in the Baldur's Gate games, but other than that I've never played with it. If we are, the author of the "Sage Advice" column in Dragon #196 suggested how to incorporate the new priest spheres into Dragonlance as follows: (source here; scroll about two-thirds of the way to the end of the page)

Oh, right. Forgot about Cole. Probably because I only played Inquisition once so far.
By the way, another question--do we get full HP for 1st level, or should we roll for all four levels?
Also, we're all starting at level 4, regardless of class then? Does that mean minimum XP for level 4?

You can find it Here- I don't remember much from DA, but I think it's similar? It's a tiny ball of energy that either shares control/takes control of a host, giving it buffs and some protections in exchange for sustaining itself over good or evil emotions/deeds/existence. Yes, I read those books when I was really young, coming back once I was older was...disconcerting I can! Unless this post doesn't appear.

Wow, that is...like, remarkably similar to Dragon Age spirits. Probably not a coincidence, though. Bioware made Dragon Age, and many of them worked on Planescape Torment for Black Isle, back in the day.

I found a pic for Mas'erin! Like I said, very pretty. Very effeminate. Edit: ... Oh my god I'm playing an angsty, brooding bishonen.

Ah, crap. Does he have to be so pretty?! Yes. Yes he does. It's integral to his backstory.

Yes, and if you had asked he would have told you (and, surprisingly, not been angry about it. Which is weird because Mas'erin gets angry about everything). If James just assumed he was a woman, though, he's never corrected you.
