"And what do you mean, 'when you sacked Eagle's Eyrie?'" adds Gimak. "That was a hundred years ago. No human could live that long."
The man chuckles darkly. "Who am I? I am the rightful ruler of this city. I am the Magelord of Daggerdale, Colderan Morn. And yes, I was dead. For a long time, it seems. But a cleric to some god I've never heard of brought me back six months ago. Since then, I've been slowly regaining my power. Using the Net of Dreams, I've been siphoning more power to create nightshades, and weaken the city's defenses. And when I am at full strength again, I will retake my city and at long last, resurrect my beloved Belesaria."
He makes a dramatic sweep of his cloak and adds, "That you have managed to make your way here shows you are not totally incompetent. I applaud your efforts, and so I will offer you a choice. Bend the knee and serve me, and when I am Lord of Daggerdale once more, I will see you are greatly rewarded. Otherwise, I will add you to my growing collection of sleepers, and your spiritual energy will be harnessed to create more nightshades until you finally wither away and die. Make your choice now."

(OOC: Okay, I added a dagger, a short sword and a third spear to Gribben's inventory.)

Drezden "You're a Morn? Then Randal Morn is related I'd assume you would be his father or grandfather then?" the dwarf says and half asks.

Colderan blinks, clearly taken back by the question. After he recomposes himself, he says, "Randal Morn? You speak of my great-grandson. I have heard of him. A pity my progeny turned out so weak. He lost Daggerdale to the Zhentish interlopers." He scoffs with derision. "I will deal with him when the time comes, if I must. Hopefully he has enough sense to join me rather than stand opposed. But we shall see."

Drezden "Something you might not know is Randal is still around building a force to take back daggerdale from the Zhents."

Colderan chuckles. "And if he should ever get around to doing so, he will be too late. I alone, with my magic, will accomplish what he and his ragtag rebels cannot. My sleeping sickness is already weakening the city, and it will soon fall."

Drezden "Hmm well I agree that the Zhents need to go but the other residents of Daggerdale they don't deserve to serve the same fate." the ranger knowing well that unfortunately he will have to try and fight this powerful mage and very well likely will end up dead on this day doubts the mage will keep talking. "So does this make you an immortal or a lich?"

Colderan shrugs. "There are always casualties in war. It's a necessary fact of life. They are my people, after all; what higher honor than to die for me? As for the Zhents, then if you agree, I take it that means your little group does intend to join me? I can see to it you are richly rewarded once I take back my town. And no, I am not undead or immortal, but still more than powerful enough to crush you should you oppose me."

Drezden looks to the others not sure what to do and in dire need of advice but none appears to be forthcoming from his companions "Can't rightfully say if I'm with yah or not. I been trained to know them nightshade with yah are evil and my kind and similar are meant to put them down. As for you while I may not agree to some methods can't say entirely if your are evil or not. Anyone willing to rid the place of Zhents can't be too evil then again there is the whole wiping out of the Eyrie and sacrificing your own people...." the ranger fully holding back very little of his thoughts but feeling very much outnumbered wonders if there could be a way to lure the man topside where allies might be able to aid.

"They say the enemy of my enemy is my friend," Gimak comments, gripping his axe tightly, "but I think this fellow here would be just as bad, if not worse, than the Zhents. I think he's as mad as Cyric himself, if you ask me!"
"You know nothing, dwarf!" Colderan hisses. "Genius is often mistaken for madness by those of lower intellect!"
"Maybe so, but it's clear you have no honor, no compassion and no respect for others. Don't know if you were always that way, or if you came back wrong, but either way, evil is evil."
"How much wealth and power are we talking here?" Margarita asks, curiously putting one of her fingers up to her chin in thought.
"More than you can imagine, beautiful," Colderan responds.
"I don't know, I can imagine quite a lot," she says, placing her hands on her hips.
"Speaking logically, the safest thing to do would be to align ourselves with this man," Zedd points out with a shrug.
"Indeed, you speak wisely, for one of your kind," Coledran agrees.
"But Tymora favors the bold. Nobody sings songs about people who took the safe, easy route. The worse the odds, the greater the glory should we succeed, I say!" the half-orc adds, thumping a fist on his chest.

Drezden hears the replies from the newer companions and realizes they are at the same impasse as himself "Appears we all are at a similar crossroads in thought." pausing a moment to think things over more "How about an alternative? Would you ever stop using the net on the folk in Daggerdale and only use it on zhents?"

"My nightshades cannot distinguish one person from another," Colderan explains. "I suppose we all look the same to them, Zhent, Daleman, Dwarf, Elf and whatever else alike. That includes men and women, children and adults, and so forth. When they go out with the Net of Dreams, they grab whomever they can without prejudice."

Drezden "Well there is an alternative rather than creating and using nightshades you could use things that can tell the difference."

Gribben confused as Drezden as to trust Colderan. The Zents are a plague on the city. But if we are to help you the innocent citizens must be spared. Most of them have been forced out of fear for there live to follow these Zents.

"I have no one else but the nightshades, unless..." Colderan expresses a sinister smile. "Unless, of course, you are volunteering to take their place. If you took the Net of Dreams out into the city each night, you could decide who will live and die. It matters not to me, as long as I gain their energy. You can pick and choose who you like, Zhents or otherwise." He adds, "After all, according to Puck, you have already stolen the net. You may as well put it to good use."
