Ladonna Marche (Village Square)"He's already treating me like property, to be bought and sold," Myra states. "So what difference does it make?" Katya Mereida's Daughter (Village Square) Damon's soul is rather jumbled. There's a cover of pride, but only on the exterior. It seems to be masking some deep-seated fear and insecurity. There's small streams of ambition and wrath throughout, but nothing that would qualify as 'evil.'

"That's a good answer" Katya responds. She thinks a moment longer, then moves closer to Damon. She takes his hands and lowers her head - a Gontorian prayer position, no doubt familiar to them both.
She doesn't address the prayer to anyone. She merely intones "may you know what is right, and may you be loved for doing it." No doubt such a blessing is far beyond her budding abilities as a paladin, but she means the words sincerely and hopes that will give them some measure of power.

"I don't think your father would see it that way," Ladonna admits. "But you would seriously be okay with either being treated like a complete stranger in which you have to work harder for your room and board and pay rent, or being kicked out completely since you are choosing your own happiness over your family's happiness?"

Ladonna Marche (Village Square) "But that's why I came to you for help," Myra points out. "You managed to pull it off. I had hoped you could help me do the same. But if not...I'll find someone else to help, someone who sees the value in being owed a favor from a councilman's daughter."
Katya Mereida's Daughter (Village Square) Damon looks confused, and perhaps even a little embarrassed by the gesture. "Um...thanks," he says. "I should go find my mother, though. It's getting late."

"You should" Katya agrees, totally unperturbed by being thought strange. "You shouldn't worry her. Take care."
Polite goodbyes said she heads off - she should see Bula before it's time to accompany her mother home, even if she can only fit in a few minutes discussion.

"I wish you luck," Ladonna says pleasantly. Now knowing that Myra is in "love" with someone, she knows she can use that against the girl.

Ladonna Marche (Village Square) Frowning, Myra turns away and walks off, her arms crossed in annoyance.
Katya Mereida's Daughter (Goblin's Tooth) Katya heads for the Goblin's Tooth. Ordinarily, doing so would be quite a reckless act. A human, and the daughter of a knight at that, just strolling into a demi-human bar is just looking to get punched in the face by an angry drunk, at best. Luckily, the place is closed during the festival, like every place of business, so there are no patrons at all. Only Bula is there, behind the bar. She is sharpening her culinary knives anxiously.

"Is Groo safely in bed?" Kaya asks Bula by way of greeting. She offers a slight smile, and keeps her posture nonthreatening. Bula already dislikes humans and she is about to ask her to trust her.

Ladonna shakes her head, and seeks out Ignot again.

Ladonna Marche (Village Square) Searching the area with the aid of the torch light, Ladonna finds Ingot gathering up a bit of litter and placing it in one of the nearby trash cans that were set up for the festival.
Katya Mereida's Daughter (Goblin's Tooth) "Grat's putting him down now," Bula says, looking up from her task. The tension in the room could easily be cut by one of the knives she is currently sharpening.

Katya crosses to the bar and takes a seat on the stool nearest Bula.
"When did you first meet Ubisek?" she asks, as casually as if she'd asked how she and Grat had first met. She could have come sideways at the question the way she'd eased Fendove into talking about Dragon's wall, Garnet into talking about the burned book or the Reeve into talking about Hedra, but Katya gambled that Bula would appreciate a direct approach. "It must have been before you moved to Buho."

"It is nice to see you are trying to keep the place clean," Ladonna says as she approaches Ignot. "I tried to talk to Myra, but she is a stubborn girl."

Ladonna Marche (Village Square) "As the kohen says...cleanliness is next to...goddessness," Ingot says, placing the last piece of trash in the receptacle. "I appreciate...your efforts. But I do not believe...this is something...Myra can be...reasoned out of. I spoke to...my parents. I asked them...to call off...the betrothal. However, Mother pointed out...that even if they agreed...the same problem would...likely arise with the next...woman they chose. And the next. I fear I am destined...to make somebody unhappy...regardless."
Katya Mereida's Daughter (Goblin's Tooth) Bula slams the knife she was working on into the bar, so that it sticks upward on its own when she removes her hand from it. "I don't see an armed mob waiting outside, which means you haven't reported me yet. So what is this then? Blackmail? Don't expect much, my profits are razor thin as it is."

Katya keeps calm during Bula's display. She knew from experience that she'd survive being stabbed, if it came to it. She'd taken worse before.
"I don't intend to report you" she answers. "I don't know what your relationship with Ubisek is, but in the few moments I had to speak with him -" she takes a deep breath, and tries to impart the sincerity of her words to Bula. "I think I respect him as much, or more than, anyone else I've ever met."

"I don't think you are going to make every girl miserable, Ignot," Ladonna says. She seems to mull over her words for a bit. "Matter of fact, Myra gave me a little bit of an idea. I rejected it at first because of the age difference. Does the age of the girl bother you too much?"
