I have to correct myself on the second ravenloft novel it's actually in Ansalon. World of Krynn, the death knight is Lord Soth of Dargaard Keep near Palanthas city. Formerly a Knight of the Order of the Rose.
At any rate yes it is hard to find folks that will play/run a lot of the other settings outside of Forgotten Realms, GreyHawk & DragonLance. Though if you are looking for DragonLance the DL forums site is the only place i have/am playing a DL game in so far. I am running a Al-Qadim game on another forum site but that is part of FR. I actually do have interest in playing in a Spelljammer or Planescape setting. I know there is a guy on a google+ community that used to run Birthright games and he is the same guy that did run a few sessions of Planescape.
However one thing I do like about Ravenloft is that you can get brought there from pretty much any of the realms. But then again I suppose the same is true of Planescape or Spelljammer.

Oh, yeah. I remember Tracy Hickman was really annoyed that Ravenloft 'stole' Lord Soth from him. I think one of the later books attempts to retcon that and claim he never left Ansalon.
Are you talking about maxvale's Classic Dragonlance game? I've poked my head in there from time to time. I was in one of Tauren_Kai-Jere's games there years ago. I played Derek Crownguard. That was fun.
There was a Planescape game here, but the DM vanished about 7 months ago. Hopefully, some day, someone will start up another one. Or maybe I will, if I ever find the time.
Anyway...it's starting to look like we won't be getting any other players at the moment, so does everyone just want to go ahead and start up the game now?

I'm ready to start. If we need more warm bodies in the party, we're still low level enough that hiring some mercenaries (0-level soldiers) to bolster our ranks should be viable if we pool our resources.

Thanks for adding Malavar's stats to the character thread Daos. Just a few tiny errors that slipped in:
- AC is noted as 10, but should be 4 (chain mail and shield) or 5 (just chain mail) - His weapon of choice is a regular spear, not a long spear - Perhaps not an error, just a question: I had assumed Malavar - being a specialty priest - would advance as a druid on the XP chart rather than a regular cleric
- No mention of his class ability to determine workmanship of weapons he's proficient with; it's not a major issue, I just wanted to know if there's any particular reason for leaving it off? - Under NWPs, I've replaced Ancient History with Artistic Ability (Engraving) on my Myth-Weavers character sheet. Both Armourer and Weaponsmithing have an extra slot dedicated to them, so using your house rules their scores should be 18 and 17 respectively. Healing tests vs. Wis -2, so his score should be 13, not 12.
And a bonus question - is it possible to purchase a weapon of fine or excellent craftsmanship before the game? What would such a weapon cost? If such a thing is possible, I would be interested in upgrading Malavar's spear - it's his chosen weapon, after all.

Whoops, I had written AC 10 as default, and then forgot to upgrade it once you chose your equipment. I've fixed it.
My mistake. Fixed.
Really? I've never heard of that before. I've always used the cleric XP table for specialty priests; never even thought about it before.
Ah, sorry. I think I originally thought it was part of the Weapon of Choice ability, and didn't realize it was its own separate thing. I've fixed it.
All fixed.
Yes. A fine weapon costs 100 GP + its normal cost, while an excellent weapon costs 300 GP + its normal cost.

Thanks for the prompt fixes! But looking again, I notice that it still says long spear (8 lbs) in the gear section. That should be spear and 5 lbs. Additionally, the speed factor for the spear should be 3 when wielded in two hands, thanks to Malavar's specialization in two-hander style. Damage for the sling bullets is also slightly off - a sling bullet's base damage is 1d4+1/1d6+1, so should be listed as 1d4+5/1d6+5. Regarding gear weight, in my version of the PHB (a PDF of the last published version), the weight for sling ammunition is listed as negligible, with 10 stones or bullets weighing 1 lb. That's a change from my first printing PHB, where the weight is listed as 0.5 lb/stone or bullet. I assume this game uses those weights, since you've listed 20 bullets as weighing 10 lbs? I also note that Malavar's wineskin is apparently empty? Do you have a specific formula for determining the weight whatever liquids the skin is filled with? Regarding XP costs for specialty priests, the first or second paragraph introducing the druid class says that: Hence my assumption that the default for specialty priests is that they use the druid XP rate. It's not a big deal for me though; going by the cleric table just means a priest advances a bit quicker in the first levels and then slows down.

Fixed. Yes, I've only ever had the original printing of the PHB.
One pint of liquid weighs one pound, just like in the real world. How much of what liquid did you want to put in there?
Is there something specific I missed?

Okay. Then, roll 3d6 for the donkey's HP, and give me any info about it you have (name, sex, coat, etc.). I assume it's average quality?
Does this donkey have any equipment, like bit and bridle, pack saddle, saddle bags, etc.? If so, did you want to designate which of your equipment is being stored on the donkey?

I'm taking votes on what Malavar's spells for the day should be. I'm considering one each of bless, cure light wounds and protection from evil. Or would the party prefer more healing?
