Jaxle, who has spent this time listening but constantly glancing to the exit, agrees. "I'm in, too. Let's go check it out, before someone else beats us to it."

Dallion nods his agreement at Jaxle's words. "Lets go find this man"

With that decided, the four men head outside to find this Peddywinkle fellow. Luckily, the inn they seek is easy enough to find, in the wealthier and cleaner part of town.
The Royal Arms is a modern beauty of an inn--much nicer (and much more expensive) than the Cutlass. In fact, this three story inn is exactly where the party would like to stay, if only they could afford it! Opening the huge double doors, they see before them the life they imagine is lived by kings and princes; their eyes feast upon rich tapestries, golden statues, and a sweeping grand staircase. Their noses delight to the aromas of fine food and wine. There are only a few patrons sitting in the cozy dining area, and the barkeep (who looks more like a scholar than a barkeep) glares at them over his spectacles. It is fairly obvious to him that the party will not be paying customers. "Something you need, gentlemen?" he asks after clearing his throat loudly.

"We're here to see Master Peddywinkle, barkeep. Kindly direct us to him at once!" Malavar replies with icy politeness, making it clear that no mere bartender gets to disrespect him in such a way.

Drezden "We'd like to see Peddywinkle to sign on for the escort of the merchant into Targos." the dwarf says politely to the barkeep.

Frowning, the bartender points out a regal-looking fellow in courtly dress and a handlebar mustache, who is sipping a cup of tea and eating a muffin. "Don't make a mess or break anything," the bartender adds.
The party approaches the man the bartender pointed out. The mustached man notices them approaching, and he looks the party over as if to size them up. "Adventurers?" he asks, noticing they are armed. He gestures for them to sit at his table. "Good day. I assume that you are here in response to my post. I truly want to get started right away. If you read my posting, then you know I stated that pay would be commensurate with skill. Exactly how many undertakings of this sort have you experienced?" he asks.

"Adventurer is perhaps not the term I would choose to describe a servant of the Lord of Battles, Master Peddywinkle," Malavar replies cooly. "My name is Malavar Mantice, and in my time I have campaigned from Tethyr to Thesk and back. Unless you are expecting a full scale war, I am confident I can handle whatever foes you may run into on your endeavour."

Drezden takes a seat after giving the man a slight bow "How many well I started in Daggerdale and ended up here. So I've taken on a few jobs like this to get here."

"I have been on a few missions like this." Dallion looks at the make with a cool look his voice is flat and emotionless as he speaks to this human.

"As have I," Jaxle comments.
Peddywinkle nods. "I see. Well, based on that I think I can afford to pay you each 50 gold pieces each once we reach Targos, plus supply your food and water for the journey. And if you are willing to stay on for a while, I could pay you a share of the profits from a few other ventures I have up there and those could be quite substantial. I'm leaving in three hours. The journey to Icewind Dale takes approximately two tendays. Does that sound acceptable?" he asks.

"Yeah, that works for me," Jaxle adds.
"Excellent, excellent," Peddywinkle says. "Yes, I have a good feeling about this. Very well then, if there are no further questions, then I will see you all in three hours just outside the entrance. Stock up on any gear you think you might need, and don't forget your weapons," he adds with a good-natured chuckle.

"Just one thing, Master Peddywinkle. I assume that you will be providing whatever is needed in terms of sustenance on this journey?"

Peddywinkle raises a brow at the question. "I did just say I would cover the cost of food and water, yes."
