"Why would we need a torch, Jaxle? Surely you can see as well in the dark as the rest of us?" Malavar asks in surprise.

Dallion and Jaxle immediately shimmy down the rope, getting quite a bit of webbing on their skin and clothes, as well, in the process. "Okay, guess Krah and I will secure the animals. Give us a call when it's safe to come down!" Taska calls back.

Hefting his spear, Malavar begins to move slowly about the room, alert for any movement in the darkness. He first stops to inspect the design drawn on the floor, then moves on to the cauldron.
"This smells of a wizard's sanctum to me. We should be careful when moving about or inspecting things. If Damien was as cruel as Kinnuki said, I wouldn't put it beyond him to have left traps or summoned entities behind to guard his property," he warns his companions.

Malavar bends down to examine the circle. Not knowing anything about spellcraft, he can't really discern much about it. He then stands to check out the cauldron in the center of the circle, although doing so will involve crossing the circle if he wants to get a close look.

Drezden finishes dusting himself off and rifles through his pack the closes it up again looking dismayed. "Eh well appears i forgot to buy torches or a lantern I was intending to but appears I forgot."

The party look over the room, careful to avoid the painted circle. Malavar inspects the chair, but it's just an old, dust covered chair as far as he can tell. Dallion finds nothing that looks of any value at all. However, Drezden's keen dwarven senses pick up a slight, almost imperceptible air current from below in the southeastern section of the room. Examining the floor, he notices a faint outline, largely concealed by the thick dust, of a trap door. ============= Malavar passes a concealed door (1d6): 6, fail. lbftl_dS1d6 Dallion passes a concealed door (1d6): 3, fail.

Moving back to where he can be more easily heard, Malavar calls up to Taska and Krah. "The room seems safe enough, though there's some sort of circle painted on the floor that I don't like the look of, and our keen-eyed ranger has discovered what seems like another trap door. There are no other exits, so it looks like we'll be heading down into the tower from here. Come down and we can discuss arrangements for further exploration."

Krah and Taska slide down the rope to join the others. Drezden looks around again for anything else, but there is nothing aside from the old chair and the cauldron inside the painted circle.
Krah lifts up the trap door, revealing a spiral staircase that descends into darkness and is filled with more webbing. It would appear the only way to go is down.
