Jaxle now that little golem has been dispatched. Did the thing come out of a secret compartment? Maybe we should check. I will try to open these drawers.

Jaxle attempts to pick the lock on the first (left) drawer, but to no avail. He then moves on to the second (middle) drawer, and has better luck. He opens the drawer to reveal a tarnished silver letter opener, three sticks of sealing wax, and a tarnished silver signet ring. However, as soon as he does so, a needle pops out of a hidden compartment in the drawer, stabbing his right hand. Yanking his hand back, he can feel it going slightly numb as the wound turns a bit purple.
==============
Jaxle attempts to open the lock of the left drawer (1d100): 68, fail. Jaxle attempts to open the lock of the middle drawer (1d100): 19, pass. A needle trap is sprung! Jaxle takes 1 damage and attempts to save vs. poison (1d20): 8, fail. Jaxle loses partial use of his right hand and is now lightly wounded. uz8U5EOY1d20
(OOC: Until further notice, Jaxle suffers a -1 attack penalty when using a weapon in that hand, and a -5% penalty to thieving abilities requiring the use of both hands due to the poison.)

"Are you alright?" Taska asks the elf. "Damn, I should have thought to search for traps first. And it barely looks worth it, too. Well, maybe this silver can be cleaned up." She picks up the letter opener and the ring to examine them closer.

Drezden shrugs "Well I woulda thought someone with that skill would think to check for traps before picking the thing open but what do I know I'm just a dwarf of the woods."

"Well, we are looking for either a sample of Damien's potion or notes on his work. It's conceivable that such could be found in the unopened drawers. Captain, if you'd care to take a quick look for traps, then perhaps Drezden could use my warhammer to lever them open. No offence, friend, but dwarfish constitution is legendary. If there's more poison traps in the desk, you're least likely to be hurt by them," Malavar notes with a conciliatory grin.

Drezden "No offense taken. Part of my heritage that I am proud of others not as much. I'd be more than happy to try and pry the drawers open with the hammer though." the dwarf offers kindly accepting the hammer when handed over to him. "Just give me the word and I'll pry away."

"If the salve is in one of the locked drawers, won't breaking them open risk breaking whatever container holds the salve, too?" Taska asks. She look over the remaining two drawers carefully, but is unable to find any sign of traps.

"I should hope not, Captain. With the right application of strength and leverage using the back spike on the hammer, Drezden should be able to pry open the remaining drawers without damaging the contents. The front of the drawers may fall off, but I doubt a rotting old desk such as this will offer much resistance."

Drezden nods his head "Exactly I didn't say smash it open, I agreed to try and pry it open."

Looks at the room trying to see if this room matches his master's lab or not

Using Malavar's hammer, Drezden bypasses the locks by forcing the drawers open, breaking them. Neither is trapped. The drawer on the left contains a book of moldy vellum paper. The right drawer holds a small mahogany coffer containing a writing set consisting of three tarnished silver-tipped quills and three ink jars of fine crystal. The ink within these has dried up.
Meanwhile, Dallion gazes around the room. It does not appear to be a lab at all, but looks more like it was probably a personal bedroom instead.

"May I?" Malavar asks Drezden as he reaches for the book.
(Assuming no protests, he flips through the pages to see if there's anything resembling a recipe for the salve)

Malavar flips through the book, but finds that the pages are so molded over as to be illegible. There is nothing to be gleamed from whatever was once written on these pages.
"I suppose there is nothing to do but move on and try deeper in the tower," Taska notes.
