"Mrow," the cat responds, practically having gone limp in Ravarie's arms. "This one smells of smoke and ash, blegh," Habbakuk says. As the party continues north, past the bridge, they can see the Southern Woods to the west. To the east are green grasslands, and the Last Gaard Mountains in the distance. After a couple of hours of travel, they come across a flock of wild sheep to the east, about 50 yards out. They are mulling around, feeding on the wild grass. Even further out, around 500 yards, a humanoid figure approaches the sheep. However, the figure appears--even from this distance--quite tall. And has two heads. =========== It is now Seventh Bell (1 PM).

Ravarie pauses upon seeing the tall figure with two heads. "...What is that?" she asks.

"An Ettin, perhaps?" Kori offers.

Ettin... are they common in this region?
==== What might Grubnick know of Ettins?

Hunner switch mood again. He ride forward to greet this... person. "Greetings! Aren't you a big fellow?" The ginger knight ask with a wide smile. "Please! Do not be alarmed! Me and my companions come with a pure heart!"

"Ooh, that's not a good idea!" Kori shouts at Hunner. "Ettins are usually grumpy! And violent!"

"No, wait, Hunner!" Ravarie calls out to the knight, but it is too late. "I don't think they are common in this area specifically," she says to Grubnick. "I saw a couple in Daltigoth while I was a slave there," she explains.

"Oh, dear. I hope he doesn't die. I just met him," Kori says. She immediately runs forward, ready to cast Suggestion on the monster and save all her new friends, which would be a good deed indeed.

Grubnick tchks at Ratt and tries to urge him on at a pace to catch up with the wayward knight before they get too close to the two-headded troll these people called an Ettin.
He tries to call Hunner's attention back to the others, but failing that he'll settle for not letting the man approach unexpected danger alone.

Hunner takes Strike off the path, and rides about 90 feet eastward, almost reaching the sheep before calling out to the ettin. Kori runs after him about 80 feet eastward. Grubnick rides Ratt after the knight, easily catching up to him. The ettin, now about 470 yards away, pauses mid-step at Hunner's call. Peering out with both eyes (shading them with both hands, one for each head), it then moves 120 feet closer, putting it at around 430 yards away. It's now close enough to make out some additional details. The creature has a mottled greenish brown skin tone, and is dressed in crude animal skins. "H'jihan gero suru orn?" asks the first head. It's hard to say, but it sounds like he is speaking Ogre. "Ngaba ulapha ngenxa yegusha?" asks the second head. This one sounds like it is speaking Giant. Hunner's reaction roll mLLP0sMB2d10 2d10

I have no idea what it's saying, but it certainly looks like a 2-headed troll to me. Grubnick shouts out in common, goblin and Dwarven to the thing. If you understand, stop where you are!

Kori realizes, a bit too late, that Suggestion would only work if she spoke Ogre. She didn't.

Ravarie follows after the rest of the group at this point. It wasn't attacking yet, so that was something. It was certainly speaking a language she didn't know.

The ettin doesn't seem to understand draconic, dwarven, goblin or common. He moves 120 feet closer and repeats his two questions, the first in Ogre and the second in Giant. He's now 390 yards away from Hunner, Grubnick and Kori. At this distance, it appears the ettin is not armed; at least, no visible weapons can be seen. He does have a pouch on its belt, and a large, seemingly empty sack slung over its shoulder. His sharp claws and teeth, however, suggest that while he is unarmed, that doesn't mean he is helpless.
Ravarie moves to catch up with them, and this in turn, causes Sorrith and Lalora to follow, as well. Kudak and Zalura remain on the trail for now, watching from a distance.
