"Yes, at this rate, I'll soon have a knight title of my own," Damon says.

Lillian inwardly sighs in disgust. What an unpleasant hypocrite...she doesn't wish for Katya to be free of magical influence, she just wants her to do what she wants. I almost pity the poor girl. I would, if she didn't try to kill me.
Outwardly, she asks, "Are you expecting another letter? We could try to stake out your front porch."

"It's been about a week since I last heard from her, so if she is sending another letter, I imagine it will arrive in the next night or two," Mereida says.

"Excellent. We can keep watch and see who or what is leaving the letter," Lillian explains aloud. "And question or tail them to find Katya's position. Thank you, Merida," she says with a bow. "And, I apologize for my conduct. I overreacted."
The second she steps outside the house, she remarks, "What an unpleasant woman," to no one in particular. "...I take it she was more tolerable when you worked for her?" she asks Finbul.

"Are you expecting the Baron to call upon you soon?" Ladonna asks curiously.

Ladonna "Probably any day now," Damon answers. "I hear one of his knights is about to die without an heir, anyway, so I imagine he'll be looking for a replacement."
Lillian "That's Ser Waelnod," Mereida corrects her. "Not Mereida, or 'Merida,' for that matter.
Once outside, Finbul answers, "I think she's having a hard time with her only heir running off to join the Wyld Boys and proclaiming herself a servant of the Mad God."
Panola nods in agreement. "Yes, she's in a bad position. That was why she kept insisting that her daughter is charmed or coerced. Plausible deniability. But it's also the only way to get her daughter back. If she were to admit otherwise, then her daughter would only be coming home in chains, in disgrace. And she loses her heir anyway."

Lillian nods. "I suppose that will be the side of the story presented to the courts, at least. The hard part is convincing Katya to go along with it."

"Yes...and based on what was written in those letters...I'm not sure how we could convince her," Panola admits. "No wonder Ser Waelnod was so desperate."

"She has a funny way of making her desperateness mine," Lillian jokes. "In any case, we should return to Ladonna with our findings...and, uh, let her know about my mistake."

"Which knight might that be?" Ladonna asks.

Ladonna "Ser Waelnod," Damon answers. "From what I hear, she's basically in her death bed already."
Lillian "Shall we return to the inn then? Or would you prefer searching around for her?" Panola asks.

"We'll return to the inn," Lillian says.

Lillian, Finbul and Panola return to the inn. There, they find Amodeo and his entourage in the common area, drinking and waiting. "Ah, they return. Well, some of them," he notes. "I hope this means you have good news?"

"I guess after Katya left, she really went down hill," Ladonna says with a frown. "Well, I should get back. Thanks for the information," she adds. She says her goodbyes to the council members and Damon before she leaves to return to the inn.

"Katya, an ally and occasional lover of Jherek's, has been leaving letters on her mother's doorstep to find," Lillian explains. "And another one is expected within the next few nights. We should be able to find whoever is leaving them, and interrogate or track them."
