"If he can be taken alive, we have permission from your queen to extradite him back to our country to face justice," Amodeo answers.
At this point, they finish crossing the bridge over the River Dark, and the village of Buho comes into view. From a distance, it looks just as they remember it from a year ago. The protective hedge still stands, surrounding the village as a wall of sorts.

Amodeo shrugs. "Hanging, most likely. They might choose to enslave him instead, make him work off his debt to his victim's family."

"Garnet, I suppose," Lillian says thoughtfully. "She had an odd ability--the gift of prophecy. She was one of the first people I spoke to once I decided I needed to stop hiding in a corner all my life. I haven't seen her since I left."

Ladonna wasn't sure she liked the idea of having to face Jherek and Kayta again, but she knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Of course, she wasn't quite buying Amodeo's story. He knew way too much. He only wanted Jherek though, so what did he want Jherek for? She wasn't sure she was going to get that information out of him right now. They hadn't even found Jherek yet, so maybe she could learn more later. If she couldn't, maybe Lillian could. "Well, we should reach Buho momentarily."

After another ten minutes, they pass through the gate and enter the village proper. On the one hand, it looks pretty much identical to what it did a year ago. The buildings are the same, the village square is the same (along with the statue of Sandon), but there is a surprising number of goblins wandering around. Not an invading force, but rather individuals just visiting the market, grabbing a drink at the tavern, and taking in the sights like any other out-of-towner.

Lillian smiles at the lack of tension with Woodfang's goblins--a step in the right direction for Buho. And perhaps a sign of tides of change in Tardiff.
"Where do we head first?" she asks.
