"Aw, screw it," she says, and pulls off her face mask to reveal she is Amaranthine Haywise. "It's not like it matters anymore, I can't go into Hart anyway thanks to you. That's what I get for saving your life. So now I can't return to the Equalists--again, because of you--and I can't step foot in Hart because the church's goons are still looking for me. I've been living in the wilderness this whole time, trying to eek out a living, but that's not for me. So the way I see it, you two owe me, big. Whatever this is about, I want a piece of it."

"I'm...I'm so sorry. I don't know what to say," Lillian says. She feels rather sympathetic towards Haywise. Her feelings towards the Equalists have softened in recent months, and she was very grateful to her for saving her life. That fate would repay her like this seems unfair to her. "You're welcome to come with us--it's the least I can do, frankly."

Ladonna, unlike Lillian, isn't exactly feeling sympathy for Amaranthine at all. "We aren't out here seeking out treasure or anything," she finally says. "We're looking for a friend."

"Yeah, maybe, but I know you adventuring types and you tend to stumble upon heaps of coin and jewels even without meaning to," Amara counters. "And even if you don't, then consider hiring me as a bodyguard. I need the coin."

"Lillian might owe you something since you saved her life," Ladonna says. "But I owe you nothing."

"I hardly need your permission to hire her, Ser Marche," Lillian retorts. "How much is your rate, Haywise?"

Amara dusts herself off. "Well, my rates are usually quite high, but I'd be willing to negotiate a bit in this particular instance. What are you paying them?" she asks, pointing a thumb at Henna, Ingot and Edgar.

"I didn't actually discuss Henna's rates with her before we set off," Lillian says. "I'll pay the two of you the same, though. Edgar was assigned to Ser Marche by the church, and Ingot's helping her as a personal favor."

"That works for me, and I want a share of any treasure found along the way," Amara says.

Ladonna believed it to be foolish to hire the woman, but she decided to keep it to herself. "Do you happen to be any good at tracking?" she asks Amara.

"Why, it just so happens I am an expert tracker," Amara says, crossing her arms and lifting her chin high.

"That's perfect. We need you to track down Liala, Ser Marche's friend," Lillian explains. "Preferably, before she meets up with this witch."

"Easy!" Amara insists. "Which one was she again?"

"The dark-haired Elf," Lillian says. "Though Ser Marche could give you a more detailed description."

"Right, right, her," Amara says. "Well, I guess I'll take the lead then?"
