Sumina opens an eye when she hears the sound of another voice, and groans after seeing Art help a kender into their cell. "You've got to be kidding me," she mutters to herself. After their time searching for kender children, she didn't want to see another kender again.

"Thanks!" the young kender says as Arthogate helps him out of the hole. He then dusts himself off and looks around the room and extends his hand to each of the party. "Hi, well met! I'm Bennybeck Cloudberry. But you can just call me Benny And no, I'm a fellow prisoner like you!" After introductions to everyone, he makes himself comfortable on the floor the best he can. "Where are you all from? How long you been here? Isn't that Lord Myca something? Can I have that puzzle when you're done with it?"

Arthogate chuckles and rolls his eyes "Well that answers that. I was thinking this one is different but nope there it is, the expected." he says merely indicating the kender Benny and the typical Kender personality. "well met Benny. You can call me Arty that is after all what other kender have called me. As for where we are from is a bit longer to explain. Let's just say the locals here captured us at sea on a ship. Do you know what they plan to do with us? They had gnomes come in and measure our necks, and keep testing our eyesight." he says back to Benny.

"Hmm...sounds like Lord Myca has something in mind for you. That should be interesting," Benny remarks. "I've learned a bit about this place while here. Lord Myca is the leader and somebody's mother is out to get him. They're going to have to fight it out, but the winner gets to be the new chief. But something happened to Lord Myca that made him go blind. He's had his gnome slaves working on it, but I don't know how he's going to fight a duel when he can't see."

"Somebody's... Mother?" - Kaelestia asks, bewildered. - "Hmm, I suppose he wants us to fight in his place, although I wonder if the other minotaurs will accept it?"

"Maybe there are different components to the duel, maybe some sorts of trials? I mean, that would explain why the kidnapped a kender of all people." - Kaelestia says, shrugging. - "But your guess is as good as mine."
She then turns toward the kender again: "How is your digging going? Did you find anything interesting?"

My grandfather was a renowned explorer and prospector who once found a mine of pure silver. I always wanted to follow in his footsteps, so a month ago I ran away from home to do some prospecting of my own. I know my grandfather wanted me to go," he says, holding up the silver shovel. "Otherwise, why would he have left this in plain sight right under his bed?" He continues, "Anyway, I stowed away on a ship, hoping it would take me somewhere interesting where I could do some prospecting. I didn't know it was a minotaur ship at the time. They found me and locked me up here until they could decide what to do with me. It's kind of boring, but it's not so bad. Besides, I've had time to do some prospecting!" "So Benny we the first cell you dug into from yours? Or have you met other prisoners as well?" "Just you," he answers. "I don't think there are any other prisoners right now." "Hey, you tunneled into here, can you tunnel out to freedom?" "Sure, check it out." Benny uses his shovel and quickly digs a shallow hole in the floor with incredible speed--far beyond what any creature his size should be capable of. "Not bad, right? I think it's magic. I've dug a few tunnels from this cave, but there's really nowhere much to go. There are very thick layers of bedrock everywhere, so I can't go too far. Plus, there are guards everywhere. I dug a tunnel to the arena, though. It looks pretty interesting. It's a big underground place where the minotaurs have their fights. Guess that's what they do for fun around here. If that's what Lord Myca wants with you, I'd say you've got a problem. But maybe I can help. I can show you the arena when night falls, if you want. If you don't mind being quiet about it. Hey, maybe you can hide some stuff there. The minotaurs frisk anyone going in during the day, but if you have stuff already there waiting for you..." He dumps his pouches on the ground. "Maybe I have something you can use. They took all of my stuff when they threw me in, same as you, but I've collected some since then. Can you believe this stuff was just lying around? What carelessness!" The items include a dagger, a flask of some kind of liquid ("It's a potion that lets you drink underwater. I've tried it, it should have two doses left"), a cloth pouch with 60 stl, 20 feet of rope, a flask of oil, a tinder box, an iron spike, three chunks of granite vaguely shaped like faces, and two white pearls. |
