CH. 09 - Return to Zhea

[Daos]

"Okay...but I meant more what you will be saying to him, in terms of how you're going to approach the subject in the first place," Lalora clarifies.

[HorizonsDream]

"Oh," Ravarie says. "The ogres are a threat to all of us," she says. "They keep encroaching upon everyone's lands a little bit more every year, so something needs to be done about it. If we were to team up, gather the Ergothian forces, maybe we can be rid of them for good," she says. "Something like that?" she asks.

[Daos]

"Alright," says Sorrith.  "Then is there anything else we need to do to prepare before going?"

[HorizonsDream]

"Hmm, not on my end. I don't know about anyone else," Ravarie says.

[GreyWolfVT]

Regar shrugs slightly then says "Not unless we want to replenish what we used up and buy new pack animals, before we do what we gotta do."

[HorizonsDream]

"We are just going to talk to someone," Ravarie says. "So I don't think we are going to need pack animals right now."

[GreyWolfVT]

Regar nods his head "sorry I'm jumping ahead a bit then. Maybe cleaner clothing then? Probably we should bathe?"

[HorizonsDream]

"Okay," Ravarie says. "If you haven't taken a bath, and you would like to, now would be the time. I took my this morning," she says. "If you want new clothing, now is the time to do it. Once all of that is done, we will head to the public audience that the Regent is holding."

Regar nods his head and heads out to see about buying some nicer cleaner clothing then will come back ready to go.

Grubnick, accustomed to not worrying about such things, nods and agrees. He will get cleaned up as well before the meeting

After cleaning up and acquiring new clothes, and whatever other preparations they wish to make, the party sets out for the government district in the southern part of the city, where the regent's manor stands.  There is a line of potential courtiers hoping to meet with him by the time they arrive, so they spend most of the day waiting.  It is late afternoon before they finally make it inside the manor.  They are escorted by armed guards to an audience chamber, directed to stand in a large circle in the center of the room.  The regent, Dasoto V, sits on an elevated throne before them, high enough off the ground that he has to look down at them.

Dasoto is a handsome man, with slicked back black hair, piercing brown eyes, and the fair skin of one who does not spend much time outdoors.  He is well-dressed in silks of red and black, and looks to be perhaps in his early thirties.  He wears a rather bored expression, but perks up upon seeing such an exotic group enter his chamber.  "Well now, here's something you don't see every day.  Four elves, a goblin, a dwarf and a barbarian.  I take it you aren't here on behalf of one of the merchant leagues?" Dasoto asks curiously.

[HorizonsDream]

"No, we aren't merchants," Ravarie says as she takes a step forward. "My name is Ravarie, and I'm here to propose an ambitious proposal," she explains. "I need allies that would be willing to go against the ogres that keep kidnapping people for their gladiator games."

[Daos]

The regent arches a brow.  "Allies with whom?  Who do you represent?  The Elves to the south?"

[HorizonsDream]

"We don't represent any of the races," Ravarie says. "I was, at one time, a slave to the ogres," she explains. "And now I'm looking to do something about it, but I can't do anything about it without help."

[Daos]

"And what exactly is your proposal then?" the regent asks.
