The party departs and heads for the lake to the north, on the edge of the town. The people thin out as they go, and by the time they reach the shore, there's nobody around at all. It's clear folk avoid this place. Signs line the shoreline. Some are written in Raven Call, others in Kanatan. But there are also pictures of skulls, x's and other signs that make it clear to anyone, that the messages are all the same: Turn back.
The grove is just barely visible from here, on a small island in the middle of the lake. It looks overgrown and dark.
Blitz flexes his wings. "How do we get across? There aren't any boats. Swim? I could fly."
Mizzle kneels down by the water and waves her hand over it. The water moves with her hand, swirling about. "I don't mind swimming. I wish I was strong enough to commune with the spirit of the lake, though. It might tell us something useful. All I can sense is...unease."
