CH. 04 - Written in Blood

[Daos]

Chispa leads the way through the yard, which is mostly a muddy red clay.  Several rusty shovels and rakes lie scattered about.  Near the northeast back corner of the house is a pitchfork stuck into the earth.  Wheat and corn struggle to grow in the fields surrounding the house.

Approaching the house itself, Chispa notes that the windows are all covered with closed curtains.  There are two entrances, however.  One door on the west side and another on the south side, both accessible from a wraparound porch.

"Should we really just get in? It has to be a trap or something.'

Vulpi will call out "Hello? We are looking for the Lady Kianna. Can anyone here point us to her residence?"

There is no answer.

Ha Yun feels a shiver go down her spine as she looks over the hand prints. "It is like someone just went kind of insane," she says.

Vulpi will bang loudly on the door before trying to open it.

Vulpi bangs on the door.  Again, there is no answer.  Pushing it open, they find it is unlocked.  It squeaks a bit on rusty hinges as it opens, revealing a musty central hallway.  There are multiple doors along the hall, all currently closed.

Zencho sigh.
"I am quick and my thing is facing threat at the front.. I'll go first."

"Vulpi, next time if you suspect it is a trap, try to first check for traps before opening the door." Chispa says. Then looking inside, "This house is clearly different. Big and better preserved. No shattered windows like the others. We need to cover it quickly, if the residence here had to fight whatever plagued this place for over two weeks, they might be desperate for food and drink, or worse. Quickly, each one go stand near a different door, listen for a moment and open it. If you notice something, shout."

(OOC: Chispa will go to the NE door, so she can have line of sight to both corridors and run to help anyone in need. She especially keeps an eye on Ha-Yun. She will also look carefully for any signs in the corridor either for something unusual, such as scratches or weird marks, or anything surrender who lives in the house.
I guess perception Gi3XXGRQ1d20+3 and investigation 1d20 are appropriate for this.

Ha Yun stays behind everyone. "We should all at least stay together here," she says as she follows Vulpi.

"I think Zencho and Chispa are concerned about things coming from behind. I don't think they intend for us to all enter different doors, I think they just want a threat analysis for each of the doors because they are concerned that these sick people are acting with intelligent malevolence. I am concerned that if we approach as a SWAT team then our militaristic stance could instigate a militaristic response from people feeling defensive because they are sick and vulnerable."

Zencho, Chispa and Vulpi all thoroughly investigate the moldy hallway, but find nothing more than what has already been described.  It appears to just be a hallway with five doors, that hasn't been cleaned or maintained in a couple of weeks.

"Chispa, I still do not believe there are traps here. I am going to check this southwest room." Crossing the hall to the south central door, Vulpi knocks, and announces: "Hello? We are trying to help is there anyone in here? I am opening the door now." Opens the door slowly just enough to poke their head through.
