There is no response to Vulpi's knock or words. Opening the door reveals what appears to be a small living room. The furniture is haphazardly arranged and looks close to falling apart. Beneath, the floor is covered in hundreds of handprints painted using crimson mud. The art style is similar to that of the picture Aunt Dellie found in Promise.

"Do y'all find it curious that we weren't warned about burrowing threatening hands, yet were attacked by them and yet the at the center of this curiosity is painted hands? Do you think the aggressive hands are a result of the same magic in the Kianna mystery?"
Vulpi will pull out an arrow and poke at one of the painted hands on the floor with it, curious if the inanimate hand will react.

The painting does not respond to being poked with an arrow. As far as Vulpi can tell, it's just art.

"I'm starting to think all of this is connected, but I'm not exactly sure how yet," Ha Yun says. She looks to see if there is some kind of door in the floor or hatch, or even a hidden door.

Looking around the room, Ha-Yun does not notice any hatches or hidden doors. However, she does note that there is a break in the pattern of handprints under a chair. Moving the chair aside, she finds a muddy depiction on the floor of two children--one is reaching for the other, who is being dragged into the water by large hands. Scrapes in the muddy image form the name "Culley."

Zencho frown and poke the drawing with his quarterstaff.
"Do we know what lake all those drawings reffer to? I think we will have to investigate this lake"

"It is similar to the drawing we found, so Kianna is most sure the one to painted it. Do you think such hands dragged Cully down? I thought it was metaphor for drowning but now... who knows?" Chispa says glumly. "Ha-Yun, if you didn't find anything not in plain sight in this room, let's continue to the other rooms. I hope Kianna may be recovered. Even if she is alive, it looks she is about to lose her mind." Chispa takes a long glance around the room to help Ha-Yun before leaving to the south east door in the hallway. ================================================================= (OOC: Investigation: fZ0Jsknx1d20 Perception: 1d20+3
BTW, when do you roll investigation and perception? They are very similar and in fact both takes place when you search for something. One more active the other the ability to detect details either when doing things actively or passively. Do you always roll both? And when does one roll insight? Is it like getting ideas? Or understanding clues? Thanks.)

Chispa does not find anything else in the living room, so moves to the southeast door. Opening it reveals a bedroom that holds a single bed, dresser, small chest against the wall, and a writing desk. Most of the space is neat and orderly, but the desk is strewn with art supplies and scraps of paper bearing fragmented images. ===================== (OOC: Perception is for noticing something with a glance, based on your senses of sight and hearing. Investigation is for thoroughly searching or going through something carefully, using your deduction and reasoning skills. Insight is for reading the body language of a person, using your instincts. If you aren't sure which to roll, don't do both. Just roll a straight 1d20 and I can use whichever modifier is appropriate.)

Vulpi will enter the bedroom looking for signs of intentional magic use, especially around the art desk. Investigation jPc4E4381d20+21d20+2

Vulpi enters the room and starts riffling through the paper on the desk. They find no incantations or instructions for magical rituals, but rather just repeating images of hands, lakes, and wide eyes looking up through the water. The largest work shows a pair of eyes with handprints for pupils. All of these images look similar in style to the picture Aunt Dellie recognized in Promise.

"We need to find Kianna first before we even think about going to the lake," Ha Yun says. "Whatever happened at the lake really did a number on her though." She'll then head in the bedroom to see of she can find anything else, hidden doors, etc in there.

Vulpi moves to the next door and knocks. Once again, there is no response. Opening it reveals a dining room. A long plain table, a wooden sideboard, and several chairs lie shattered on the floor. The debris is streaked with crimson stains. Red mud also covers the walls and floors. There is another door to the west.

Chispa, still in the bedroom helps Ha-Yun search the room. If she also doesn't find anything she will join Vulpi.
