"That's good," Blitz agrees. "What should we say when they ask who sent us?"

"We can say we were meant to bei g him to a neutral location between the two nations," Kalinda says. "It would have to be somewhere on the border."

"Is there an issue with saying Krane? And do you mean at sea as a meeting point? It could work." Terani says.

"There are a couple of things we should carefully consider," Blitz says. "At the moment, they know we are Cascadians, but not which nation we are from. If we tell them we were sent by Supervisor Crane, then there will be no doubt we are from Salt Whale, and if the Ravenites should decide to retaliate, they will then know exactly where to focus their ire. Secondly, while admitting we work for the Supervisor would give us a bit of clout and perhaps lead them to take us more seriously, it would also put us in danger of being interrogated for whatever state secrets we might possess. I know if the garden guard found Ravenites hiding in Si'ahl, claiming to personally know the Ravenite king, we would be mighty interested in extracting whatever useful intel they would know. Defenses, military force, etc."

"He does have a point," Kalinda says. "They might just decide to send forces to Salt Whale without even considering that we come in peace."

"It would be a poor move strategically, for them be fighting two wars on different fronts, however, I see your point. However, if you wish to have talks with someone, especially if it's concerning countering such a risk, you'd want to know who the adversary is. If we had been from the weakened or smaller territories they might think we were after using their forces as protection and so it being one sided. In which case they could well perceive that weakness as a chance to consider an invasion, yet once again, that's no guarantee given they're already in one. This is where staying where we come from is in our benefit. Because we're a strong, large, rival, I wouldn't think they'd want to enter into combat with us. They will have gone to war with a reason, to have us attacking would need a big change to their military distribution in order to defend against the threat we'd pose unless they wish to risk losing large tracks of land and thereby giving us a foothold here. It wouldn't make sense. Having an ally in us however..." Terani looks about at them, presuming they understood the rest. "As to our being picked and closer to the officials... Well I think we stick closer to the truth. We did a job together and did well. Those in the know heard the request for a strong band for 'something', and besides being asked to do this, we haven't been privy to anything. They could foresee if the group were captured, as we are, sending a group who are from the high echelons of the system would be broken and divulge sensitive information. Hence just wanting a unknown but capable few."

Blitz's feathers ruffle a bit, and he looks to the women. "Do any of you have anything to add to this?"

Kalinda simply stares at Terani before she shakes her head. "The Ravenites would definitely go to war on different fronts," she points out. "They love violence, and having two different wars would give them plenty of violence. Not only that, but I don't think Salt Whale is actually a comparable to the whole of the Ravenites. The whole of the Elonori lands, maybe, but not just Salt Whale alone. Salt Whale was damaged pretty badly from the last raid from the Ravenites," she points out. Plus, even if Salt Whale was a large strong nation, they would completely want to try to wipe us out because, once again, the Ravenites love violence." Absently, Kalinda takes her sunglasses off the top of her head and starts cleaning the lenses with the edge of her shirt, but she keeps talking.
"The Ravenites, even though they have a love for violence, aren't stupid. They aren't going to believe that Salt Whale sent a bunch of nobodies to try to create a peace treaty," she explains. "It is exactly those upper echelon people that create the peace treaties because it is their job to protect their home using the information that they are privy to." With that said, Kalinda puts her glasses back on top of her head and starts looking around the cell.
"As I'm not keen on getting tortured because that is what is going to happen, I suggest we start looking for weaknesses in these bars so we can escape from here," she says. "Once again, defeatist or not, we need to break out of here and go home. We either need to break these bars some how, or find the guard with the keys and try to get those keys off of him."

"Alright. Then let's have at it." Terani says with a shrug.

April sighs, a low whistle that echoes from the prison walls. She silently gives thanks to Elonna, a secret relief washing over her. While it would mean their mission ended in failure, she was much more comfortable with a simple prison break than a delicate, deception-filled negotiation. She examines the bars--trying to identify their material and any weak spots that she could shatter.

Inspecting the bars, they appear to be made of some kind of treated wood--harder than normal, more akin to bamboo. Which means if enough damage was applied, it is possible to break them. Although without weapons, that might take longer than normal. And it would certainly make a great deal of noise.

"Is there anyway we can weaken these bars magically?" Kalinda asks.

Terani turned his attention to the floor and walls, not expecting to find anything but also not wanting to get in the way. Still a loose brick could help... Maybe.

"Is there anyway we can weaken these bars magically?" Kalinda asks. April taps her fingers against the wall, her eyes shifting back and forth as she sorts through her knowledge of holy spells. “Weaken? No,” she eventually answers, clenching her hand into a fist. “But there are ways magic could destroy them more easily. We could try to burn through the wood with a fire spell. Or Terani could cast Bull’s Strength on me, and I could try to crack the bars.” She gave the wood a gentle knock. Even with enhanced strength, she’d probably struggle to snap the bars.
