A general thread on the game Fallout and its spin-offs and sequels. Played any of them? If so, what type of character do you use? I tend to stick with a genius diplomat (high INT and CHA) who prefers small arms (pistols at first, and then later on switch to ray guns). I always play good, although I'd like to try evil out sometime. This is on the first and second game, though. I haven't played any of the others, although I have Fallout Tactics. I intend to give it a shot when I finish Fallout 2.

My game kept crashing. I downloaded the patch, but...it invalidated my save. Which means the game works great now, but I have to start all over again.

I don't know, I'm doing a lot better this time. Probably because I understand things better. I'm all ready heading toward Den, I have over 90% in Small Guns and can kill even Golden Geckos pretty easily by making called shots to the head, eyes, or groin. Most of the time, they collapse, which then boosts my chance to hit (even for called shots) to 95%, making it even easier to kill them. Sulik and I got ambushed outside of Klamath by a pack of half a dozen golden geckos (and one regular one), and I killed them all without taking a hit. Then skinned them, sold the hides in Klamath, and made enough money to buy more ammo and some better armor. On the other hand, my character has been addicted to Nuka Cola for a few days now. PROTIP: If you have a poor STR score, expect some rather embarrassing dialogue whenever you sleep with someone.

My character got over his Nuka-Cola addiction, and we finished in Den. I found Vic, rescued and recruited him, and killed the head of the slaver's guild. Now my party is comprised of three. I also traded my 10mm pistol for a Desert Eagle and my leather jacket for leather armor.

Hey, did you guys hear about this? Long story short: The guys who made Fallout 3 (Bethesda) have loaned the rights to make another Fallout game to Obsidian Entertainment, the company where many of the people who worked on the original two Fallout games now work. Pretty exciting! ;D

Well, I finished with Modoc and the Ghost Farm. I upgraded my armor to Combat Leather and I have an assault rifle, but...I'm too weak to use it properly. I might sell it if I can get ahold of a better pistol instead. I also gained a new Perk: Sharpshooter. This gives me a +2 bonus to all long-ranged attacks. That'll help a lot.
Oh, and this time I made sure not to get married. @_@

I don't know why I keep updating this, but I do! I finished with Vault City and Gecko, recruiting both Cassidy and Lenny in the process. I also traded in my Desert Eagle for a 14mm Pistol. I'm not sure if that's better or not, to be honest.

I played a little more today. I gained a level, I swapped my 14 mm pistol back for a Desert Eagle (if I shoot a guy in the eyes, I expect more than 2 damage or so, eh?) and took out the raiders. But Sulik died in the process. I guess that's what happens when you bring a spear to a gun fight. Maybe I should have obtained more Psycho for him, instead of saving it all for myself.
I still have Cassidy, Vic, and Lenny, though. And hey, now I have an open slot for Marcus. Off to Broken Hills!

I messed around in Broken Hills and gained a couple of levels. I haven't figured out how to recruit Marcus. I guess I need to fix the air purifiers for the mines.
I took the Action Boy perk, which gave me an extra Action Point. In other words, I can now shoot twice in one round. Whoo! I also shoveled so much manure in Broken Hills (I needed the money) I earned the Expert Excrement Expeditor perk, which granted a +5% to my Speech skill.
Get it? Shoveling manure? Huh? Huh?
I'm going to slowly start pouring skill points into Energy Weapons so I can pick up a laser pistol when I finally get to New Reno. Heh!

So I decided to illegally pick up Fallout 2 as it's famous and I've never before played it.
I started as the tribal warrior, Torr or Tarr or some such thing.
Armor: Leather Jacket Weapons: Spear, Pistol

Gold: 260
Tagged Skills Melee Weapons: 104% Small Guns: 82% Thrown Weapons: 42%
Progress: In Modoc, doing some mini quests before heading to Vault City and pursuing the main quest. Just completed the ghost farm quest for the fat exp.
More coming!

For some reason I have Thrown Weapons as a tagged skill. It's probably because I was hitting buttons not knowing what I was doing at first.
