I'm afraid something last minute has come up and we won't be able to have a session this week. Sorry. We'll try again next week.

Not a whole lot to say. What exactly are you looking for here?

*shrugs* I always ask that question. Just any general feedback whatsoever.

Well, to be honest, this was a bland session. The descriptions were bland, minimal, or non-existent. The first half of the session had interactions consisting wholly of two PCs and one NPC, with maybe Taska, Gracia, and Darrin throwing in some one-liners intermittently, but not contributing much of anything at all. It's like the other NPCs don't even exist except when you remember they do, to say nothing of the rest of the gnomish villagers. They were just kind of "not there" and the only semi-real people from the village were Dohru and Feng.
Even worse is when you do this:
Dohru: "Blah blah blah." Feng: "No, blah blah blah."
I don't know if Dohru is speaking like a robotic drone or grandfatherly or as a dispassionate professor, or what. But I guess I'm supposed to infer or something.
If this is intentional, then bravo. Mission accomplished. Otherwise, it's like a movie is being shot on a green screen, except instead of CGI backgrounds, we just see a green screen, maybe a few props. And some actors who are all wearing white sheets of blandness. Their mood, their emotions, their very "being" are completely opaque to me. I've already forgotten what Darrin, Taska, and Baster look like. Even Gracia, and I wrote her appearance! I have to constantly check the logs and the forums just to remember.
All of this combined makes it difficult to feel any emotion in this game. And I want to. I really want to like this campaign. But, currently, I do not. I mean, I should. All of the elements are there. New lands! Gnomes! Religious discussion! Politics! Ships and the sea! But, it's just not coming together for me.

Admittedly, descriptions were never my strongest point. In my earlier campaigns, they were bare bones. In OC1, the town of Wallark was described as "bigger than A'naka, but still pretty small" and nothing else.
Over time, I've improved. But now that I look back, I can see I have regressed considerably.
In truth, I'm having a hard time with this game, and I don't know why. I find it difficult to focus, to put the work into it that it needs. I have plenty of time to do so, I just lack the motivation.
And I can't figure out why. As you say, all of the elements are there. I should be really enjoying this game, but I just can't seem to get into the right mindset for some reason.
Perhaps it might be best to take a brief hiatus, a couple of weeks, so I can get my head together and put more work into this game, I don't know.

I'm going to be busy next Tuesday. Can we reschedule to Wednesday or Thursday?

Actually, it won't be a problem. Next Tuesday through Thursday, Heather and I will be out of town.

Okay...XP is done. Sydney leveled up. And the transcript is ready. Session 05 - Holier than ThouI also updated the Bestiary. Now, there won't be a session this Tuesday, on account of Heather and me being out of town. But the week after that, operations resume, although possibly with some retooling. Stay tuned for more.

After much thought I've decided that the next session, FW3-06 will be held here in the forums. I'm going to start a thread for it on Tuesday.
Dice rolls will be handled by Invisible Castle (www.invisiblecastle.com). Once I have enough posts to fill a full transcript (which is usually about 10 pages), the 'session' will end and XP will be calculated as normal.
At that point, whether we continue in the forum for awhile or switch back to the normal chat games, is sort of still up in the air.
As pbp is much slower than pbc, it will give me time to work on my descriptions and catch up on my work on the game in general, which I haven't had much time for due to real life issues.
What do the rest of you say to this?
