That was an oversight. Thank you for pointing it out.

There are, but they suck pretty badly. The PHB has rules for an arquebus. There are some rules for pistols in Spelljammer, I think. I houserule my own stuff for guns in my own games, because guns are practically unusable as written. The basics though are that range penalties are doubled, you can only fire every third round (it takes two rounds to reload; and you can't reload if you are being attacked), rolling a 1 or 2 on attack causes the weapon to backfire, doing 1d6 damage to yourself (and damaging the weapon so it cannot be fired again until you take 30 minutes to fix it), and the gunpowder needed to fire it is considered a magical item (which means, by core rules, it cannot be bought in stores). The plus side is that the way damage works, if you roll max damage, you get to roll again and add it together. If you roll max damage again, you keep going. So theoretically, you can roll infinite damage, if you're lucky enough. Ugh, that does suck. Daos , what are your house rules like? I don't know if this is negotiable or not, Jherek Everfull . If you're open to having a conversation about it I can propose a starting point; For a primitive, barrel-loaded revolver like the kind common during the American Civil War (like the first colts), we could do something like - 5 shots without reloading, half an hour to reload Cannot shoot more than once per round, even if level would normally grant multiple attacks per round Requires a Weapon Proficiency to fire, and a Non Weapon Proficiency to reload. Attack penalties for long range are doubled Ignores armor and shield bonuses to AC Can be fired one-handed without provoking an attack of opportunity Creates a loud, distinctive noise when fired On a hit deals 1d10 damage not modified by attributes No exploding damage, no backfiring I feel like this would make it situationally useful without overshadowing every other weapon in game.

Okay, nevermind then. Halflings can be mages.
Here's the updated party list:
Here's the established party so far again:
Daos - Aasimar (Class Undecided) [Planar] Heather - Elf Cleric of Mishakal [Dragonlance] Theron - Human Cleric of Gilean [Dragonlance] Lillian - Halfling Mage (Conjurer or Transmuter?) [Tsentasia] Katya - Drow (Class Undecided) [Greyhawk or FR]
I was also thinking about roles for the detective agency, and what everyone does.
I figure my character is muscle, but also the 'guide' so to speak, as he's the only one born and raised in Sigil and knows all about the way the planes work (i.e., the only non-Clueless).
Heather's character is the medic but also provides the visions.
Theron's character is probably our sage and investigator. When we get stumped, he's the one who hits the libraries up in the Clerk's Ward or divines our next course of action.
Katya's character is probably our connection to the underworld. I imagine we'll have to deal with criminals and their ilk a lot, and most of them won't be particularly helpful toward an aasimar, but as a drow, he understands how these people think and can deal with them easier. Also, he probably is the one who is able to cross that line the rest of us may not be willing to in order to get the job done. Threats, intimidation, and such.
Not sure about Lillian's character yet, don't know enough to guess.
By the way, do we know what level we're starting at yet?
My rules are:
*Guns ignore armor (but not magical AC or DEX-based AC). *Guns require a weapon proficiency to use (anyone can fire a gun, but you need the WP to reload and take care of it). I have two WPs--Pistols (one handed) and Rifles (two handed). *I also have an NWP, gunsmithing, which is used to build and repair guns. *It takes a full round to reload, like with a heavy crossbow. *Ammunition can be bought in stores if guns are plentiful in the setting, and can be made with the gunsmithing proficiency.
I also have a write up of a whole mess of different kinds of guns, both magical and mundane. For blunderbuss, I have that it costs 2,000 GP, deals 1d6/1d8 damage, and weighs 8 pounds. It can fire either pellets or bullets. If you arm it with pellets and 1 dose of gunpowder, it can fire in a 15' cone. If you arm it with a bullet and 1 dose of gunpowder, it has a range of 10'/20'/30'. Like with any gun, if you roll max damage, you keep rolling.

I will go with level 4, you've started to establish yourselves in your home planes, and explains why you have a larger amount of starting Funds. I generally keep magic items relatively rare. This being Sigil, that will likely not fly so hot. You guys each get a +1 weapon or armor and miscellaneous/wonderous items of up to 2000 xp value. So one 2,000 xp item, or two 1,000 xp items.
Please include the reasons you you have said items in your backstory bit.

Your rules regarding WPs/NWPs and pellets are a little more generous and your baseline damage is a little less generous, but this makes me feel like I'm being reasonable. {I definitely dont have anything in mind when I ask for a gun...}especially not when I focus on being able to fire it one-handed and it not provoking an AoO....

Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing.
Jherek, if you can give me a name for this game and a brief description for it, I can set up the forum.

I did x10 for GP...didn't I !?!! I meant x100...it was supposed to be a nice way to "throw away" two 1's edit: "In the Cage, No One Cares if You Scream." I figure the description would have something to do with your detective agency and the infinite possibilities of working in the City of Doors. I have four more stops, the. I can give it a more thorough description.

Oh. Well, Jason here isn't really the most physically adept. He is, however, very intelligent, with both a wide array of knowledge and a good memory, and an excellent problem solver, owing to his wisdom and charisma. Also, I suppose his family is rich. At least, something like that.
