Personally, I'm for 3.5e, or at least heavily 3.5e with FATE elements. I have a lot of experience with the former, so I could deal with that easily-I could even help some of the other party members with their builds. Personally, I don't think we should do 3.5e+FATE unless nobody vehemently objects to it.

So thus far unless I have misunderstood someone GravityEmblem is for 3.5 or the 3.5/Fate mash up. @truemane is for 3.5/fate mash up Daos is for 3.5 N0br41nz is for FATE and others I've invited have not yet stuck their nose in far enough to say in either direction. They still have time, and posting does tend to slow over the weekend.

Yup, that's what I'm saying. Sorry for not making it as clear.

I'm in for this.
I side with the '3.5 w/minor FATE elements' crowd as well.

I like the idea of the 3.5 + Fate mashup. I like both systems.

What sort of mashing would you be thinking of Ezeze? Mostly 3.5 with some Aspects? Messing with the skill system? I know you really like the Fate Point Refresh mechanic, but that might be a tough one to integrate when so much of D&D is based around mechanical balance.

I know you really like the Fate Point Refresh mechanic, but that might be a tough one to integrate when so much of D&D is based around mechanical balance. I like the Refresh mechanic but it would not fit well over 3.5. D&D 3.5 has a lot of strengths but balance is not one of them. Trying to fit the Refresh system on top of its mechanics would be a little like wielding a teeter totter on top a unicycle; theoretically possible but precarious and unnecessary. I would only be using Aspects. What I would do is have each PC draw up a 3.5 character then have you pick four Aspects; a High Concept, a Trouble, and two more that describe who you are/what you have/what else you have done in your life. The game as a whole will also have Themes that function as aspects. Specific locations and NPCs will have aspects as well. Each PC will start game with 3 Fate Points. Every time an aspect acts against a PC they gain a Fate Point. That can take the form of deciding a PC's actions for them (Sir Leonard has the "Defender of the Weak" aspect. Of course he steps in to protect the orphans!), forcing them to auto-fail a roll (Brandy has the "F*CK THE POLICE!" aspect. I will choose to auto-fail her Diplomacy roll with the watchman), or at my option I may offer a Fate Point either for good roleplaying or to tempt a PC to act in a certain way. If the PC feels an aspect should act in their favor they can spend one of their Fate Points for a bonus (I'm attacking the zombie with Rob's "Heirloom Sword" I mention in his aspects. I'm going to spend a Fate Point for a +2 bonus!), to reroll if they roll poorly (I know I rolled a 'natural 1' against this Goblin, but this room has the "Brightly Lit" aspect! I can see well and their vision is blurred! I'm going to spend a Fate Point and reroll!) or to make fiat declarations about the scene (This street has the Aspect "crowded." Of course when I shout "Stop! Thief!" there is someone near by who can step in to help!). Ideally nearly every aspect your character has will have both positive and negative connotations, which means you'll be able to use it to both gain and spend Fate Points. In addition to being able to trade Fate Points back and forth with the GM you would be able to trade Fate points amongst yourselves (Brandy knows that Rob's "Heirloom Sword" is important to him. When she steals it and tells him that she will only give it back if he gives her his dessert she can give him a Fate Point to comply).

Hi yes I am here sorry I am the worst at reading PMs and then forgetting to actually reply to them. (Raine from Giant)
My vote is for FATE but I'll still play if it ends up being 3.5 or a mashup. Aside from my general dislike of 3.5 as a system I'm also hesitant to play it on PbP games, along with any other edition of DnD, pathfinder, or Shadowrun, because crunchy tactical systems make combat take forever when "turns" can be spaced out over several days. Fighting a dragon can take a literal month of OOC time depending on how much of a dick the dragon is about its abilities. Group initiative solves some of this problem but not all of it, and introduces several new problems.
Systems like FATE, and PbtA, play nicer with a posting format since combat is abstracted out to take about as long as anything else you might do in the game. There's less 'four hours of fight four minutes of dialogue' in them than in dnd.

Anyway, I've already come up with a character concept. My specialty is creating strategically viable and in-depth characters.

From the sound of it 3.5 with Aspects is fairly solidly in the lead. The game isn't going to properly start until January, but Daos - if you have a half-second of breathing room during your crazy holiday work schedule will you go ahead and throw up a "Strours Run" forum? Give it the description "A story-oriented D&D 3.5/Fate mash-up game about fate and people who fight it" and we'll jump into character creation!

Yes, please and thank you!
With the exception, I think, of NotARobot who only posted to express his regret at not being able to play.
