CH. 02 - Shore Leave

"They're thieves; you can just barely see their weapons and armor," Johannes says, answering Kalana. "So, how should we go about this?"

"Well, if we want to do this peacefully, I guess we walk up to those guys and ask to speak to their leader," Kalana says.

Jaeron "Don't most groups have a guild of some sort perhaps this building is such a place."

"What types exists? Do you know specific vulnerabilities for specific types?" Senllip listens carefully for what the spell casters has to say then he adds, "Does invisibility works against the Golem as well? or is it considered mind spell?" then he looks at Athel and smiles, "Anything you think we ought to ask on the subject?"
If Athel does throw in his own concerns, suggestions and questions Senllip will listen to the answers for that as well. Once talking is done he summarizes, "So do you have any magical weapons to lend? Device to make someone invisible, silence an area, detect magic, detect traps, boost dexterity, remove traps, climb the ship hull or fly and maybe even throw illusions?" Senllip grins as he realizes the list is very long.

(OOC: Is the spell Cat's grace allowed to improve the thief dexterity? Senllip will equip himself with the items in the list according to the order spoken and the money he has. Maybe Athel will throw his share as well. After that Senllip means to go and scout the ship.

"This is one of the thieves guild," Kalana points out. She glances to Harrin for a moment, then sighs. "Follow me," she says to her companions. She approaches the warehouse and the seemingly homeless people guarding the area.

JAERON:  "How well do you know this fellow? There is something that just doesn't feel right about this place."

"We're old friends," Harrin says, his tone suggesting he takes offense to the gnome's implication.

JOHANNAS:  "They're thieves; you can just barely see their weapons and armor."

"Ah, I see.  Guards but hidden in plain sight, so nobody can tell they are guarding something.  Clever," Harrin notes.

KALANA:  "Well, if we want to do this peacefully, I guess we walk up to those guys and ask to speak to their leader."

"Should I wait here then?  I haven't picked up a blade in over a decade.  To say I'm rusty would be an understatement," Harrin says.


Senllip (Midnight Brawlers Base)

"I know of golems made of bone, clay, stone, iron and even flesh," Metha says.  "There may be other types, as well.  You can probably make a golem out of just about any material, if you have the knowledge and the power.  As for invisibility, it would depend on how smart the golem is.  If it has a mind, that means the mind can be fooled.  If it's mindless, though, then illusions would have no effect on it."

Athel adds, "Based on everything I'm hearing, we should try and avoid the golem as much as possible.  I don't think we could win a fight against it, and even if we could, it would make a lot of noise and draw a lot of attention."

"As for magical items, we have a couple of potions--one of Levitation and one of Human Control, a spell scroll with Invisibility and Silence on it, and a figurine of wondrous power," Thurmal adds.  "It's a Serpentine Owl, so it can transform into either a normal owl or a giant one."

(OOC:  I think Cat's Grace is a 3E spell, not a 2E one.)

Jaeron looks to Harrin "Forgive me I did not mean to offend just this place is very questionable looking and with two thieves out front really has warning screaming at me to not go in there."

Ignoring Harrin's question, Kalana marches right up to the front door.  The awake homeless man turns to her and holds out his cup, shaking it slightly.  "Alms for the poor?  Please, we haven't eaten in days, anything would help," he says in a grizzled voice.

Kalana looks over the supposedly homeless man. "Well, it is a passable act," she says. She drops a couple of silver pieces in the cup. "But as I know what you are, and what this place is, I would like to speak to whomever is in charge."

Jaeron follows Kalana but does not speak merely puts a silver in the cup.

"We're looking for my friend's sister," Johannes explains, plunking a silver piece into the "beggar"'s cup. "And we've been told that she was kidnapped by a guild of thieves."

"Can anyone use this scroll?" Senllip asks. "How does this owl works? He follows the user commands? Can the giant carry a person? For how long does it transfer? What happen when it returns back to figurine form if it was injured as living owl? What happens to stuff it ate while being alive?!?" Senllip adds curiously.

To Athel comment he nods in strong agreement, "Exactly my thought, but knowledge is always useful when things don't go along the plan." he smiles reflecting on their past mutual jobs together that didn't go smoothly.

"So what are the prices for these items? For guild members that is."

The 'sleeping' homeless woman gets to her feet in a flash, and both of them reach for their blades at Kalana's words, but back off when the gnome and druid join her.  Evidently three against two make them rethink their odds.

"If you know all that, then you should know better than to hang around here," says the 'homeless' man with the cup.  "The Crimson Oars don't take kindly to uninvited guests."

Senllip (Midnight Brawlers Base)

"Only a person with training in the arcane arts can use the scrolls," Metha answers.  "As for the owl, it obeys whoever summons it.  And it can communicate directly with its master, through their mind.  It will remain until dismissed or at least eight hours pass.  And it is too small to carry a human, but someone our size, it could.  If it is damaged, it will be fully healed the next time it is summoned, eight hours later.  However, its giant form can only be used three times, and then the statuette becomes useless.  And if it were to eat someone, they would still be dead regardless."

Thurmal goes over the prices with Senllip.  Guild members get a 50% discount, but of course, Senllip is no longer a guild member.

"And The Blue Lightning doesn't take too kindly to kidnapping," Kalana says. She places her hands on her blades, but doesn't draw them. "Now, we would rather handle this as peacefully as possible, so notify your leader that we wish to have words."

Jaeron unsure of how wise a move this is looks around to see if anyone else is watching them.
