Kalana Ioane (Amusement Park)"Guess we should have come during the off-season," Aata comments.
He scans the area, shielding his eyes from the sun. "Wait, over there," he says, gesturing to a bulletin board that had been set up. It mostly contained fliers for different attractions, but more importantly, it had a hand drawn map of the area, including the various tents. The tents include: Fortune Telling, Tunnel of Love, Blackwell's Séance, House of Illusion, and The Great Gazib and The Amazing Oopah.

"The Amazing Oopah?" Kalana asks as she wrinkles her nose at the name. "Uh, well, if we follow this path," she says softly as she traces her finger along the map lines. "We will end up at the House of Illusion. Why don't we try that first?"

Kalana Ioane (Amusement Park)Aata chuckles. "Not a fan of the Amazing Oopah?" he asks. The two make their way to get in line for the House of Illusion, which is perhaps the most elaborately colored tent of them all, decorated with every color imaginable. It certainly makes the place stand out against the other tents, all of which are a single color only.
"So how long are you going to be in the city, do you think?" he asks her while they wait.

"Honestly, I don't know. It could be a day or it could be a week or two," Kalana says. "Our captain is a pretty nice guy, and he knows that most of us have been looking forward to some shore leave so I think that even if he finishes that stuff he needs to do early, he will let us stay here at least a couple of days."

The ruffians slowly begin circling Mathias. They are also all armed with cutlasses and sabres, but also pistols, as well. The apparent leader of the group, a male half-elf, chuckles as he faces Mathias. "Afternoon, stranger. You sure look like you got your hands full. Why don't you let us help you carry that load?" His words are friendly, but his tone is rather menacing.
Two female elves face Mathias from the sides, and two more elves (one male, one female) circle around to his flank.
"You're surrounded and outgunned, so just make this easy and we'll let you walk away without any harm," the half-elf says, putting a hand on the pistol at his belt.
Heaving a heavy sigh, Mathias mutters, "So this is what it comes down to," under his breath. He sees the movements of the local residents out of the corners of his eyes, and knows no help will be forthcoming. He takes one long, last stare into the eyes of their leader -- this half-elf who has yet to draw his weapon -- and in that moment makes his peace with the knowledge that this will end in only one of two ways. Without any further hesitation, he lunges straight for the half-elven leader with his cutlass. (OOC: Initiative I8p_TqRW1d10) (OOC: Attack roll 1d20+3) (OOC: Damage roll 1d6+4) 1d10·1d20+3·1d6+4

Arieal (Thundergulls Magic Guild)"Well, how about this?" Azerath asks, pulling out a long box from under the counter. He sets it on the counter and opens it, revealing a wand. "Wand of Magic Missiles, fully charged. Only 5,000 gold pieces. Always handy for any mage, if you ask me, regardless of profession."
"That is a bit steep for my current funding. I am looking to fill some holes, not outfit forever. What other options might be available." Arieal replies.

Kalana Ioane (Amusement Park) "Your captain has business in Tu'Valie then?" Aata asks as they slowly make their way to the front of the line.
Mathias Blackcairn (Slums) The leader realizes Mathias is about to strike, and manages to attack first, slashing across the dwarf's flank with his sabre. However, he is unable to get up his guard in time to stop Mathias' own attack, and gets a light cut in retaliation. The other sailors, not wanting to risk their pistols in close range combat, grab their cutlasses and start swinging at the dwarf. Only one--the woman on his left side--manages to score a hit, and even then, it's but a scratch. The others, even the one behind him, cannot touch him. "What are you doing?" the half-elf hisses at them in frustration. "He's just an old man! Take him out already!"

Senllip goes near the lady and clears his throat. "Ahhmm... Good day milady. I've noticed you have a fine taste considering your majestic appearance, but yet you don't buy anything. Are you looking for something special? May I be of any assist?" He offers politely.

"It seems that way. He took all the officers with him when he left the ship," Kalana says. "Before we got here, we ran into this weird dead plant things that apparently had wiped out his and a few of the officer's homes. It is quite possible they are looking more into that incident."

"One hundred gold!" Mathias bellows at the top of his lungs. "On my word as an officer of the law, I'll pay a hundred gold to any among you who helps me take the half-elf into custody!" Deciding he can't spare the time to glance at the others to try to gauge their reaction to this, he whirls his cutlass in another wide arc, hoping to strike one of the gaps in the half-elf's studded armor.

Kalana Ioane (Amusement Park, House of Illusion)"That sounds similar to the rumors I've heard, about entire crews vanishing and only leaving their empty ships behind," Aata remarks.
The two eventually reach the front of the line and are ushered inside of the tent, which seems to hold a stage and numerous chairs. It looks like they are going to witness some kind of show or performance. Kalana and Aata manage to secure seats near the front and sit down as the rest of the audience is seated. "I can only imagine what this is going to be like," Aata says.
Senllip (Marketplace) The elven woman looks down at Senllip with a bit of surprise. "Oh...I'm just sort of window shopping," she says. "Getting a feel for the market. I'm a merchant myself, and I'm hoping to set up shop here some day. Do you...work for one of these merchants or something?" she asks.
Mathias Blackcairn (Slums)The half-elf slashes at Mathias, but the dwarf is able to parry in time, then makes his bribe toward the others, before managing to get through the half-elf's defenses with a wide arc, drawing some blood.
The magic of the philter empowers the dwarf's words, and all five of the half-elf's lackeys pause to consider his offer. "A hundred gold each?" All five of them suddenly turn on their leader.
"You traitorous scalawags, what do you think you're doing?!" the half-elf demands as he's suddenly fighting for his life against six. He takes several hits and appears to be on his last legs by the end, barely able to keep his blade up.

"What I ran into wasn't a pleasant sight," Kalana admits with a sigh. "Matter of fact, it actually scared me quite a bit, and it didn't seem like there was any way to save the people that had turned so the only option I had was to mercy kill it," she explains with a shake of her head. She then turns her attention to the stage as she leans back in her chair to get comfortable. "I hope the show was worth the wait."

"Hold!" Mathias calls out to his newly-won allies.
Holding the blade of his cutlass perfectly vertically, he adjusts his footing into the optimal defensive stance, ready to parry any further attempted attacks from his opponent. "Throw down your weapon and surrender," he tells the half-elf. "It's over."
(OOC: Going into full defense for the round. Mathias will forgo attacking in favor of parrying any attack the half-elf makes.)

Kalana Ioane (Amusement Park, House of Illusion)The theater goes dark as the magical illumination is dimmed, and a spotlight shines on the stage, highlighting it. A young human woman steps out onto the stage and speaks. Some kind of magic is amplifying her voice, so everyone in the tent can hear her clearly. "Welcome one and all, to the newest show of the House of Illusion. I hope you enjoy it. It is based on a true story. I call it, ' The Villain of Shadowshore.'" Mathias Blackcairn (Slums)The half-elven leader grimaces, but knows he cannot win. Hesitantly, he tosses his sabre to the ground and holds up his hands. "You backstabbing traitors are idiots," he tells his fellow sailors.
"Now, about our pay," one of the elven women says to Mathias. "That's one hundred gold each," she says expectantly.
