Drezden nods "Yes you did but I guess he was distracted by a squirrel or something."

Drezden nods "Yes you did but I guess he was distracted by a squirrel or something." "More like a dirty rat," Malavar grumbles.

Looks at the exchange between the half breed, the dwarf and their new employer. This was going to be an interesting journey.

"Very good then," Peddywinkle says. "Then I'll see you all in three hours time." ============== (OOC: If there is anything anyone wants to do, let me know. If you want to do any last minute shopping, we can take care of that in the OOC thread. Otherwise, we can skip ahead three hours.)

The party returns to the Cutlass to collect their gear and animals, and after whiling away three hours, they return to the Royal Arms.
As they circle around the back of the Royal Arms, they see a middle-aged, black-haired man in leather armor harnessing a pair of draft horses to a large covered wagon. He eyes the party suspiciously at first, then nods in greeting, and goes back to his work. Behind him they see a tall, brown-haired boy of about 16 years carrying a box of tools out of the stables, heading towards a second wagon. Seeing the party, his face lights up in a wide grin, and he drops his box and approaches. "Good morning, sirs, you must be the grand adventurers that Master Peddywinkle told us would be guarding the caravan! I'm Dell. Dell Tannerson. That's my Uncle Rafferty over there. He's teaching me everything he knows about being a teamster, you know, and that's quite a lot I must tell you, although I fear it isn't nearly as exciting as what you do," he says in a single breath.
Shaking each of their hands vigorously and not letting anyone get a word in, he continues, "Oh, the stories you have to tell must be full of wonder! Please, you must share with me the tales of your adventures as soon as we are underway, or even show me some magic. I do love seeing magic, especially when it makes things disappear. I once saw someone make a horse disappear and then reappear again. That was amazing! I wonder how he did it, do you know? Oh well, I haven't the time to talk right now. I have to get back to work before Uncle Raff gets angry. It was very nice meeting you." As the four stand there in wonder as to how anyone could say that much in one breath, Dell picks up the box and heads toward the second wagon.

Drezden "I like it you got a good energy about ya. You rise each day glad to be alive." the ranger dwarf comments.

Looks at the young man as they shook hands and thinks how he is grateful this human didn't practice the arcane arts. He put a smile on his face as he thought of how his race views humans and this is the image he always had. "I think we might be able to share a tale or two once we setup camp tonight."

"Oh, that'd be great," Dell says. "It'll take several days to reach Targos, so we'll have plenty of time to hear your tales. Oh, maybe we'll even run into something dangerous, like goblins or orcs or dragons or an army of walking corpses, and we can have an adventure of our own. Wouldn't that be grand? Anyway, Master Peddywinkle should be here soon. He said someone else was joining us, too. Oh, are those your pack animals? They look healthy. You must take good care of them. I'm quite good with animals, so let me know if you need any help with them," he rambles.

Jaxle- Ah! young lad lets not hope for danger or look for any danger. Innocent people may get hurt. But if danger comes we will protect the caravan.

Drezden "You know I've found folk who often seek danger tend to find it." the ranger tells Dell "I've found it plenty of times been to Daggerdale found it in a mad mage and his nightshades. Found it later on with a bunch of goblins as well."

"Onyx is no pack animal, she's my riding horse," Malavar gently admonishes Dell. "Tell me, lad, have you and your uncle been in Master Peddywinkle's service for long?"

"Aw, I'm not worried about danger," Dell says. "I'm sure a group of warriors as skilled and experienced as you guys can handle any problem we run across."
"Ooh, those sound like good stories to tell when we're on the road then," Dell says, nodding enthusiastically.
"Oh, no, we were just hired today, in fact," Dell answers. "But my uncle Rafferty has been a teamster for years now. He's teaching me the trade, so I can take over one day for him."
Rafferty grunts. "Don't pester the guards, boy," he says to Dell. "And don't put so much faith in adventurers. They aren't known for being reliable," he mutters.

Nods an agreement with Rafferty words. " Your uncle is right we adventurers are a troublesome lot. We seek out danger and danger tends to follow us."

"Aw, but I've heard stories about how adventurers like you are heroes. Like Elminster and Drizzt Do'Urden, and the Knights of Myth Drannor," Dell says. "Adventurers help save the world!"
Behind them is a chuckle, and a woman's voice. "And in most instances, adventurers are the ones who put the world in trouble in the first place."
Stepping forward, she reveals herself to be a young human woman with dark hair, eyes and skin. She is wearing form-fitting leather armor and over that is a thick black cloak. She has a sabre on her belt and a crossbow on her back.
"Hail and well met," she says to the group. "I am Taska Whiteship, former captain of the Bronzemoon. Now reduced to guarding caravans. Tragic, no?"
"Oh, you must be the person Master Peddywinkle mentioned, the fifth guard," Dell realizes.
"In the flesh," she replies with a mock bow. "But with all these big, strapping men about, perhaps I'll hardly be needed?" she asks coyly, looking over them all. Dell blushes and looks away at the compliment. Rafferty just rolls his eyes and goes back to preparing the draft horses.
