Ladonna "Well met. Wait, I remember hearing about you," Talbot says. "You were the woman who brokered peace with the goblins, or so it is said. I can see why Baron Escott would want you looking after his only daughter then. Not that it's at all necessary. No safer place in the county than right here, in the castle, of course."

Lillian thanks the bartender and waits for a few moments. It’s be too much to ask for something to just happen out of the blue, but she still takes some time to think of her next action.

"Lady Escott is not accustomed to being away from home," Ladonna says. "With all of these new people, she is going to need some help. I am pretty decent with people, so hopefully I will be of some help."

Ladonna "Hopefully so," the marshal agrees. After another long pause, he strokes his beard and then finally says, "Was there anything else I could help you with?"
Lillian Lillian sits and watches as things happen around her. A wizened old man enters the tavern and approaches a table in the back, and starts telling the people sitting there about a goblin camp in the wilderness, and how he needs four to six brave warriors to retrieve a mysterious item from them. Over at another table, some people discuss a caravan heading out east that is hiring additional muscle due to increased bandit activity. At the bar itself, a young man in armor a little too big for him, and with a creaking voice, asks about work but the bartender only offers him a few copper to go kill the big rats in the cellar.

“How big are these rats of yours?” Lillian asks.

"Ah, no. Pleasure to meet you," Ladonna says. She says her goodbyes, and walks off to meet with the man that the Marshall mentioned.

Ladonna Having never received any directions from the councilman, Ladonna just winds up wandering around the halls for awhile, before she finds a staircase leading up to the second floor. After more wandering there, and then the third floor, she makes it to the fourth floor and finally finds the commander's office there. Upon knocking on the door, Commander Rolan opens to let her in. "Ah, you again," he says, recognizing her from earlier. "Not still trying to get into the harbor, I hope?" he asks jokingly.
Lillian "Up to a foot long, maybe bigger," the bartender tells her, holding her hands about a foot apart.

Ladonna laughs lightly at the joke, and shakes her head. "No, no," she says. "I'm actually here to see you. See, my father came with me on this trip in hopes of starting anew," she explains. "And since he was in the militia, at one point in Buho, working under you would be a good fit," she explains. "Except that he is a little....out of practice."

Ladonna "What a strange coincidence, I just had a man in my office not long ago who was also rather out of shape and looking for work in the guard," the commander says. "A fellow by the name of Jonas, I believe."

Ladonna looks surprised at the mention of her father's name. She wasn't actually expecting him to take the initiative to seek out the commander. "That would be my father," she says with a smile. "Um, I hope it went well?"

“Sounds like killing all of them is worth more than a few coppers,” Lillian remarks.

Ladonna "Well enough, I suppose," Rolan replies. "He seems experienced enough. Although if I had known his little girl was going to speak for him, I might have had second thoughts. In any case, he doesn't seem to have the coin necessary to pay for the needed equipment. The gear he already has is fine for a small town militia, but to be a guard at Hart, we require a little more than that. I suggested he look into finding a sponsor with some gold who could help him out."
Lillian The bartender laughs. "Alright then, how about an entire gold piece then?"
"Wow, really?" asks the young man. "That's a whole third of what I need for a new shield!"

"How would one go about finding a sponsor?" Ladonna asks.

Ladonna "Usually it's a wealthy family member or friend of the family," Rolan answers. "But really, anyone with money will do. Sometimes even one's liege will volunteer."

"Why would someone sponsor someone else though?" Ladonna asks. "I'm afraid I don't understand the whole idea, I guess."
