Viondre smiles. "I believe so. I mean, Gonto has a plan for us all, of course. But I suspect She has something particularly special in mind for me, or else She would not have blessed me with angelic features. I pray to her daily for guidance on the correct course of action to lead the fulfillment to her Grand Plan."

"Well, perhaps you can help me seek redemption for what I have done recently," Ladonna says.

"Oh, of course," Viondre answers. "I am a kohen, after all. And redemption is an important part of the Gonto faith. After all, Gonto wants you to follow your true path and help bring order to a chaotic world. Let's see...the first step would be an apology. You'd need to tell the count that you were wrong, you understand and recognize your sins, and that you hope to make them up to him. It won't undo what you've done, but it will be a good first step in redeeming yourself in both his eyes, and the eyes of Gonto."

"Apologize," Ladonna says thoughtfully. "That seems easy enough," she says. "But there is more to an apology than just saying I was wrong," she adds. "I have to prove it as well."

"Yes, of course," Viondre says, nodding sagely. She then abruptly stops and tilts her head. "Sorry, what? Prove you were wrong? Why would you need to prove that you lied to and disobeyed the count? Is that not a matter of public record, with multiple witnesses?"

"Not prove that I was wrong," Ladonna says. "Put prove that my apology isn't just empty words," she explains.

Viondre's eyes light up in understanding. "Oh, I see. You mean proving your sincerity. Well, yes, that would be the next step. An apology alone won't undo what has been done, it's just a first step. And probably the easiest one."

"How would one prove their sincerity though?" Ladonna asks. "At least in this case?"

"Probably the best way would be to undo your previous actions," Viondre answers. "You can't undo a lie, though. Once it is spoken it is spoken. But you could try and undo the disobedience. If you could track down and arrest the poachers you let go, for instance."

"I'm of the opinion that the decision has be made, and there really isn't much more I can do about it now," Ladonna says. "Keeping my past mistakes in mind as I move forward seems like the best option."

"But does that alone prove your sincerity?" Viondre asks. "It's good to remember your mistakes and not repeat them, but that's not something that is easily seen and measured. Nobody notices when you don't mess up, after all."

"Tracking down those refugees would be extremely difficult too," Ladonna says. "They could be anywhere by this point."

"Perhaps so," Viondre says. "But making the effort itself would go a long way in proving your good intentions. Indeed, sometimes the effort is more important than the result. We've all heard stories of noble knights who dishonor themselves, then spend the rest of their lives seeking redemption. Not all are able to find it, but the journey is important, too."

"I will take your advice under consideration," Ladonna says. There is no way she is going to tell them where the refugees are at this point.

"Very good," the aasimar says, standing up. "And feel free to seek me out if you ever need further advice. I'm usually at the temple."
