Like the "Favorite Race" thread, but different. What is your favorite class in AD&D?
Mine would have to be mage. I suppose they're the class I have always identified the most with personally. Then again, I have little experience as a player, and therefore the only classes I actually have played are mage, conjurer/summoner, cleric, and fighter. I've always wanted to try out the paladin, just to see if I could pull it off.

I'm all for playing the priest/cleric in the party. I don't know why, but I've always enjoyed playing priests. Mage comes in as a close third, as I like the ranger class just after the priest class.

Fighter jock, loud and proud.
The thief is second placed.

Highly depends on the DM. For you, I enjoy playing my... Well, actually, I don't know. I suppose playing a bard would be the best. Haven't got my chance yet though.

A bard? But why only for me? You didn't play one for any of the other campaigns you were in, did you?

Because your campaign is more suited to nuance and showy things. Like street performance and music.

All right, new question: Which class do you dislike the most?
With me, that's easy. It's a class I don't even allow into my campaign world...or even Soulspace itself. That's right, I speak of...the psionic. (*thunder strikes in the background*)

I've always wanted to play some sort of mounted knight, complete with lance and shield. This could either be a paladin or fighter, doesn't really matter. What matters is he's on a horse. Never in any campaign has the DM allowed me to pull that off. Something about horses and dungeons not "mixing well."
I don't think I have a particular favorite class, though I have never played a specialist mage nor a druid.

The class I dislike most? I think I dislike the bard class the most. Now I know they are sort of a jack of all trades, but I just don't see how they would be very useful. I mean, I might play one, one day, but for the most part, I just don't like them.

The mounted knight thing might work in my game, as I very rarely use dungeons.

NOOooo! Why must you tease me like that...
A bard could be fun. I've always wanted to play a character who always sang instead of speaking normally. The idea came to me when I saw the recent movie Phantom of the Opera. I thought it was going to be an actual conversion, but it's just a big opera on screen. Anyway, I wondered if people actually sang like that in real life instead of speaking like normal people.

Actually, in the last game we had a guy who played a warrior who rode on horseback.
All you need is the right gear, the fighter class, and the horseriding proficiency.

I don't mean in terms of mechanics or class. I mean, his entire character concept revolves around him being a mounted warrior or something. Lancemen, horse archers, it's difficult to choose. It's just that it's never been done in my campaigns (what with all those monks), and none of my DMs ever allowed me to.

Also, in the last game, we had a goblin wolf-rider, too. He was a thief. He died, though.

I guess Ranger could work pretty well, too. Cleric as well. Well, even a mage could provide a unique spin on the mounted knight. Though you wouldn't be able to cast spells from a mount. But they could be like dragoons, horse-mounted infantry.
Whatever. I don't want to think about it too much.
