CHAPTER NOTES
Title:
Parsall, as mentioned before, is a stereotype of early-game D&D regions, where you just fight low-level bandits and wolves. Being hired to take down some bandits is a common quest for low-level characters, and as such is typical for Parsall.
Missed Content:
Draft and his bandits had some loot lying around should you have defeated them and searched the cavern. A +1 Shield that can push enemies across the room, a +1 Pitcher of Pitching (a pitcher, the thing for holding water, that acts as a thrown weapon. 1d4 damage), and a Scroll of Hold Person. When you found the last one, Draft would have told you usage of Enchantment magic is punishable by death in Foccu. So, just keep that in mind.

For second level, I'll take the average HP (so 5) instead of rolling. Also, are there spell scrolls for sale in town? I probably can't afford them anyway. But just for future reference, I'm looking for the following: Fog Cloud, Grease, Ice Knife, False Life and Color Spray. Torn between choosing Evocation for my arcane tradition (and thus going full blaster) or Theurgy and help take the burden of sole healer off our bard. The latter would give me more spells, too, which I could definitely use. Although I've never considered Daos very religious, though. What do the rest of you think? Wait, does that include Sleep, too? Because... *tugs at collar* I guess Aerendyl accidentally saved Daos' life when he killed Menlo then, because Daos came dangerous close to casting Sleep on Menlo right in front of the mayor and his men. Anyway, did things more or less go as you expected, or did we go flying off the rails? I imagine Menlo's death was unexpected, if nothing else.

Ren's a pretty backwater town, so there isn't a good place to buy scrolls. There's a vendor named Evermich Mirso who claims to be selling scrolls, but they're clearly just pieces of paper with the name of the spell crudely scribbled on.
The Enchantment ban is designed to prohibit mind-affecting magic (eg. Charm, Dominate, Suggestion) that the Church of Elshodi views as evil, but all Enchantment spells are technically punishable by death. For something like Sleep, you're unlikely to get executed unless the authorities really hate you. (Oh, and there are similar rules for Necromancy. You probably weren't planning on raising any dead, but just so you know...)
I didn't really plan for the party to negotiate with Draft; most of the stuff he said wasn't in my notes. But that wasn't really unexpected, like Menlo dying was. I did roll for his HP (commoners get 4 or 1d8) to see if he could survive. He didn't. Though it was only going to be a matter of time before Aerendyl or someone else accidentally killed someone. Besides, as Zero said, he only likes games that take themselves seriously. One of the random encounters I have written down is a Bard who tries to use Mass Suggestion to make everyone do the Cha Cha Slide. So, watch out for that.

Ah, just as well. Even if there were authentic scrolls for him to copy into his spellbook, I doubt he could afford them. Daos has less than 30 GP to his name right now.
So what's everyone else doing for their level ups?

Now seems the time. I assume the new chapter will open once everyone has finished leveling up, right, Gravity?

I was going through the PHB, and it says each time I gain a level, I get to add two spells for free to my spellbook? Are there any rolls needed for this? Or any limitations on what I can choose? (Well, aside from they must be 1st level still.)

Alonzo will take a second level of rogue when I'm back at the computer to be more mobile and agile. How are we doing HP? Roll or average?

Cool. And how should we do sheets? Update our post in character creation, new post, or mythweavers?

You can just tell me what adjustments you're making, and I'll edit the character sheets.
