'Huh. Aren't they envy you? You will probably outlive your commanders and brothers in arm, they will wither and weaken, and you will prosper. Many envy the longlivety and the beauty of the elven. So they just gave up on their envy?' Zakkoth wonder as he do his work.

While they were resting, Zakkoth looked over Henry's wounds and helped clean and bandage them. They aren't lethal and thanks to his efforts, won't become infected. Given time, they will heal up nicely without scarring.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 19/19 - AC: 16 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: No Chantilly listened intently to Henry's eulogy, she thought it sounded very solemn. After he finished she spoke to the group, still unsure on what to do with their prisoners: " That was a very good speech, Henry! But.. What about those who are still alive?" She asked pointing at the sleeping cultist and the unconscious kobold. " If we decide to leave them here, we should probably collect the stolen goods and bring those with us, otherwise they could just stole them again." " I mean, I would." She added to herself. " Lord Whats-his-name seemed like he really could use some of this stuff back."

"I am not sure it is envy that other feel towards us half elves," Eliana says. "Sometimes it is outright hate. It isn't just humans either, but elves as well," she points out. "We don't really belong with either, which means we have to work harder to get recognized."

Caelin Valaerys, pariah of TarkhisisHP: 18 of 18 | AC: 17 | Perception: 15 | Insight: 17 | Inspiration: 0 Conditions: None. Caelin looked to Chantilly and whispered, "We should slit their damn throats, so there's not a blade at our backs or someone to inform the rear guard we're coming." He sighed, shaking his head, "However, tight rope and gags will have to suffice." Louder now, address the kender's concern about their equipment, "We're burdened enough as is, and likely will be more so if successful and escorting captives from the main encampment. There's little point in encumbering ourselves further when speed, stealth and guile are our only weapons against a larger force."His piece spoken, Caelin moved ahead of the group, keeping his eyes open for the rear guard that their captives had confirmed, studying the landscape looking for opportune sites for an ambush, or other defensible positions.

Though standing apart from some of the others, Benyt observes Caelin growling something to Chantilly with a furrowed brow, and suspects the angry and practical man is suggesting just what should be done with the prisoners. She feels the simplest and safest thing would be to eliminate them, but she isn't in a position to give orders, and she has yet to work out this company's dynamic. She suspected Henry wouldn't agree with such an act; she'd been told Solamnics will often choose some higher moral ideal even if it is sure to get them killed. He spoke up, confirming her opinion but declining to simply solve the problem.
She frowned under her scarf. Taking the prisoners along was a very bad idea, and both because she trusted his instincts but mistrusted where his temper may take him, she follows close to Caelin.

Eliana waits for Henry to take the lead once again, and she follows behind him when he does.

The party decides to leave the prisoners where they are, still tied up and unconscious, and proceed forward. Caelin scouts ahead of the group. The flat grasslands start to give away to a more hilly region, as they get closer to the Dargaard Mountains. After a couple of hours of travel, Caelin spots an area about a hundred yards ahead where the trail winds through a gap between two outcrops. It looks like the perfect place for an ambush.

Caelin makes a perception check with advantage (1d20+5): 12+5 = 17, pass.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 19/19 - AC: 16 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: No "Lord Caelin, do you see anything of note?" - Chantilly asked, trying to keep the pace with her long-legged companions, huffing under the weight of her backpack. While Caelin looked into the distance, she tried to study the field they were walking in, scanning for tracks belonging to the allies of the cultists they fought earlier.

Caelin Valaerys, pariah of TarkhisisHP: 18 of 18 | AC: 17 | Perception: 15 | Insight: 17 | Inspiration: 0 Conditions: None. Caelin smirked at Chantilly, "Lord?" A soft chuckle, "I appreciate the intent, but I am just a gutter born orphan, so don't let the Solamnic Knight hear you call me that." Suddenly he stopped, looked at the canyon ahead of them, motioned to Chantilly, "What do you think? A pass like that, we take the low road and archers set atop the hills rain down arrows, javelins or worse on us. Perfect place for an ambush." He motioned back towards the group a hundred or so feet behind them, "Why don't you go back and tell Henry and the others that we're going up the embankment there," he pointed to the high side of the canyon, " we go quietly, and together, that way we can hopefully scout the rearguard's forces and make a decision then."

While Caelin looked into the distance, she tried to study the field they were walking in, scanning for tracks belonging to the allies of the cultists they fought earlier. The trail the army left is still very easy to follow, as there were so many of them and they took no measures to even try and conceal their path. Even someone with no tracking training at all would have no difficulty in following this trail.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 19/19 - AC: 16 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: No Chantilly leaned her head to the side, mumbling: " Can't orphans be Lords..?" then she shrugged, before adding: " Well, it seems like no one wants to be called that anyway..". Then she turned to look at the canyon: " Yeah, I don't like crumped places like that, it's hard to hide or run away safely once you're in between those walls..." she said, while crouching and running her fingers trough a patch of stamped strands of grass. Finally she nodded at the young man's request, before happily hopping back to the others to pass on Caelin's plan to the others.

Henry - HP: 10\20 - Conditions: None - Active Effects: None
Even though Zakkoth's ministration helped him, Henry still limps here and there because of the pain; what the pain seems uncapable of doing, however, is putting a stop to his jokes.
"Zakkoth, my good friend. Being envied by my peers would be a problem only if there was a chance I could actually outlive them. Old age is not a problem most Knights have to deal with, since most of us die young doing something incredibly foolish - like chasing an army with a ragtag band of strangers."
The return of Chantilly is a welcome one - mostly because he could actually rest a bit, using the javelin he carries like an impromptu cane. Henry listens intently, then nods slightly "I do agree that the spot you mentioned seems quite good for an ambush. More informations would certainly be helpful. If you spot enemy forces, I believe it would be helpful if you could also try to find another path; if you find yourself in a dire spot and can't retreat, shout and we will come." the aspiring Knight pats Chantilly's shoulder gently, an encouraging smile for the Kender "Be safe. I have every confidence you will show your skill and bravery again, Chantilly."

"Do you think they would really be expecting us to follow them?" Eliana asks curiously. "Not that I want to get caught in an ambush, so I agree with the plan, but considering what they did last night was...well, successful, and they probably think they killed one of us, they might be overconfident enough to believe that they won't be followed."

the draconian chuchkled to the answer of Henry. Zakkoth walk silenlty, and take a sip here and there.
'From my exprience with such armies, you are right, Eliana' he say. 'Unless they have a competent leader, who hold them by the throat, they will do as little as possible. But I guess, paranoia, is always healthy thing to have.'
