'You have pointy ears- this is elven enough for me' Zakkoth wave her protest. He frown. 'This is true. This is a bad omen. Let's hurry'

Caelin manages to catch up to Benyt, who still stands fast. Chantilly looses an arrow at the knight, and actually hits him in the shoulder. She then flees beyond the short range of the crossbow. The knight fires at Benyt, but the bolt hits the woman's shield.
============
Henry makes a perception check (1d20+3): 2+3 = 5, fail. He does not notice the arrow. Caelin moves 30 feet toward Benyt, so is now 10 feet away from her and 90 feet away from the knights. He dodges. Chantilly fires an arrow from her short bow at Warder of the Lilly [AC 17] (1d20+7): 16+7 = 23, hit for (1d6+5): 5+5 = 10 piercing damage. She then moves 25 feet away, putting her 100 feet away from the knights. As a bonus action, she uses cunning action to move another 25 feet away. Warder of the Lilly fires his heavy crossbow at Benyt at short range (100') [AC 19] (1d20+3): 13+3 = 16, miss. aRsf5Q1Q1d20 1d20

Benyt - Female Human Fighter 2 - AC 19; HP 18
She crouches behind her shield, lowering her profile, and pushed Caelin along. "Keep going. We'll draw them toward the others... why is there only one?"
Benyt moves away from Warder and uses Dodge.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 19/19 - AC: 16 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: No Chantilly keeps sprinting towards the others, up until she could finally glimpse at Zakkoth's huge figure in the distance. She paused, took a long breath and then screamed: "Henry! Help!"Hoping that they heard her plea of help, she turned around yet again to check on Caelin, Benyt, and most of all, the Lily Knight. {Spoiler} Chantilly takes the full turn to move back as much as she can (75'), I'm not sure on how much is left, but I hope not that much!

Eliana turns to the sound of Chantlilly's voice. "Doesn't sound like anything good is coming our way," she says. Though, she isn't stupid enough to run towards the danger. She will let Henry lead the way, and blast people from afar.

CONDITIONS: None. Caelin only nodded, mimicking the woman's movements, raising his shield to protect himself from the knight's cross bow barage, while withdrawing from the conflict at a steady pace. As he did so, he risked a look at the warrior to his left, "Two Skull Knights, mystics and accomplished spell casters, may have withdrawn to alert the half dozen bozak who stood watch with them."As he placed his feet, he risked a look above the shield rim, scanning for an avenue of approach that would allow the Knights and their bozak troopers to flank Benyt and himself. {Out of Character Actions}OOC: Move action to back up 30' towards the group, and I will take the Dodge action, while risking a quick perception check to determine where the Skull Knights & Bozaks are in relation to our position. Once the three are beyond a hundred feet, the knight stops shooting at them and ducks back down into cover again. Caelin scans the area, but there is no place for them to sneak up on the party. If they were to try, it would be fairly easy to see them coming, as the surrounding area is fairly flat, aside from the hilly region where the knights and draconians are taking cover.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 19/19 - AC: 16 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: No " Are they.." - Chantilly glanced at the knights and the draconians before continuing - " are they not following us?" she asked to her companions with a puzzled expression on her face. " Maybe we scared them!" - the kender suggested with a hint of pride in her voice.

"I doubt it," Benyt says, catching her breath and scanning the hills. "They know there is an armed presence at their back and that we came from the same direction - meaning Greenest. They can't just move on... unless they plan instead to rush home and alert their entire force that we are here."

CONDITIONS: None. "We were spotted," Caelin spoke in response to Eliana's inquiry. "On our approach, I took a careless misstep, sending a small shower of pebbles down the ledge, it drew the attention of the Lilly Knight, and his companions, a pair of Skull Knights. They pursued a short distance, then the Skulls withdrew, possibly to warn the half dozen bozak troops with them. The Lilly Knight continued to harry us with crossbow fire while we withdrew ourselves."Assuming no reinforcements, they numbered nine to the company's six, not an optimal situation to say the least. And disregarding possible reinforcements was foolish at best, "I am unsure of our best course of action, they are alerted to the presence of at least three of our number, and will likely reinforce their numbers. So either we circumvent the rear guard entirely, leaving a small armed force at our flank, or we engage at, at least, a 3:2 advantage for our foe."

Zakkoth shake his head. 'Bad omens. It's all bad omens.' he tap his chin. 'Maybe the spell casters among us, can create a distraction and send them on the wrong trail, while we move forward in haste'

Henry - HP: 10\20 - Conditions: None - Active Effects: None
"We struggled against the previous group, even though we had the tactical advantage. Now it's them that have the advantage - they know we're here, they outnumber us and the terrain is not suitable to a flanking maneveur and a charge would be suicide." Henry keeps his voice low, gazing the surroundings and seeming quite worries "Our mission is to rescue the people that were taken captive and gather informations, not defeating the cult. Fighting now means casualties, wounds, losing more time. It's certainly unfortunate that we alerted them, but it's not like they didn't expect anyone to follow them - we just gave them confirmation of what they already knew would happen." the aspiring knight then points at the direction they came from "We should fall back a bit and then sidestep them."

Caelin Valaerys, pariah of TarkhisisARMOR CLASS: 17 | HIT POINTS: 18 | CURRENT: 18 | HIT DIE: d8; d10 | CURRENT: d8; d10 PASSIVE PERCEPTION: 15 | PASSIVE INSIGHT: 17 | INSPIRATION: 0 ACTIVE EFFECTS: None. CONDITIONS: None. Caelin shook his head, frustrated, mostly with himself for the failed scouting mission, still, they needed to get to the Cultist's main camp and try to locate the captives. "I still don't agree that the act of rescuing hostages, who may very well not be in a condition to be moved, is going to be as easy as that." A sigh, "However, given my failure, we have little choice but to circumvent the rear guard, and allow a knife at our back. We may need to quickly re-assess our exit strategy once we commit to the rescue of the captives, and any not in the condition to travel, and do so quickly, should be left behind, lest they endanger all of our efforts."He drew a dagger and began to map out a route that would allow them to slip around the rearguard, and hopefully pick up the trail once they had circled around the threat. {Out of Character Action}OOC: Trying to determine the best route past the guards, not sure if this is Survival or Stealth, or something else entirely, so Survival is +3, Stealth is +8, but I will roll a naked d20 and allow Daos to apply the appropriate skill to it. 1d20+x= ;rZ4h8lFT1d20, or assisting someone else if they have a better modifier in the appropriate skill. 1d20
