Caelin Valaerys, pariah of TarkhisisARMOR CLASS: 17 | HIT POINTS: 18 | CURRENT: 18 | HIT DIE: d8; d10 | CURRENT: d8; d10 PASSIVE PERCEPTION: 15 | PASSIVE INSIGHT: 17 | INSPIRATION: 0 ACTIVE EFFECTS: None. CONDITIONS: None. Caelin nodded, "An hour then, behind the cluster of tents to the south of encampment, against the western wall of the bluff." He paused, and then spoke again, extended his hand in the symbol of Tarkhisis, "If confronted by this symbol you are dealing with a member of the Cult itself, the others are likely raiders and mercenaries lured in by the scent of blood and easy money."As they moved to infiltrate the camp, Caelin watched Eliana move off with the others. He watched pensively and then muttered more to himself, than to his partner, "I hope she stays safe," his voice trailed off, and then he turned quickly remembering that Henry was within ear shot.

The group, split into pairs, enter the camp separately and each heads in a different direction. Nobody stops the pairs from entering or questions their presence. Most of the people in the camp or the stragglers arriving are dressed much like them; no uniforms or special emblems showing. They all look like mercenaries and adventurers. The feeling in the air is one of confidence and cheer. Nobody seems to expect any trouble or any retaliation from Greenest. (OOC: From here on out, we're doing this in whispers. Thus, no pairing will know what is going on with the others. Make sure to include me (admin) as well as your partner (I'll include everyone's whisper tags for ease of use) in each whisper. Also, everyone give me a straight 1d20 for...no particular reason. ) Caelin (zeroprime) and Henry (bunnycommando)Caelin and Henry stick to the north side of the camp for now, starting with the watch tower by the entrance. It is manned by kobolds, about half a dozen of them, and each one is carrying a small horn on their belts. But they seem pretty lax, and are only giving people who enter the camp a passing glance. As they are inspecting the tower, a pair of hobgoblins approach, walking a bit unsteadily. "Hey..," says one of them, making a sloppy salute. "Hail Takhisis! Praise her name!" (OOC: Does Henry make any attempt to hide or obscure his signet ring, by the way?) Chantilly (chantilly) and Zakkoth (igordragonian)Chantilly and Zakkoth attempt to cut through the middle of the camp, heading east toward the cave on the other end. Nobody seems to pay them much mind; Zakkoth, being a bozak, is not an uncommon sight. In fact, he sees a number of draconians in the camp--mostly baaz or kapaks, but a few bozaks, sivaks and even a dragonspawn or two. Chantilly, as long as she keeps her ears covered, passes for a very petite human teenager. Something about the whole thing ignites old memories in Zakkoth; his days in the field with his fellow soldiers after a major victory. That giddy feeling of knowing your goddess was on your side. As they are walking, a half-elven man in chain mail with an axe on his back approaches them. "You just got here, right?" he asks. "You see any more stragglers on your way in? We're still missing a few people." Eliana (dreamangel) and Benyt (gorgonheap)Eliana and Benyt take the south side of camp. A number of men in the camp, especially the draconians, tend to notice Eliana and watch her pass by with interest. It's not a feeling she is unused to, but it is unnerving in a camp full of the enemy. Benyt, looking a bit more masculine in her armor, is given a few curious looks due to her foreign armor, but is mostly ignored. They pass by a series of small tents. The tents are crudely built and seem largely occupied by kobolds. The creatures keep their distance from the human and half-elf, less out of any respect, but it feels more like almost hostility. One of the kobolds is carrying a jug of some kind, and in the process of giving the pair a wide berth, accidentally walks into a male human in black robes, and spills some kind of liquid on him. The man starts kicking the kobold furiously, and the creature curls up in a ball to protect itself.

CONDITIONS: None. Caelin walked a pace or two ahead of the Solamnic, his thick dark cloak rolled into a tight bundle and stowed at the small of his back, where it also concealed his thieves' tools. As previously, he'd used ash and dirt to darken and stain his distinctive ashen hair, "If greeted just make the sign as I showed you," he whispered to Henry, "I'll try to talk us through any check points." As they were greeted by the drunken hobgoblins Caelin greeted them with the merest nod, extended a hand in the symbol of Tarkhisis, "Praise be." He moved to walk away, before turning around as though he remembered something, "Wait! Me and Mouse here," he thumbed towards Henry, "come back from a day o' raiding and find some sodding kobolds set up their filthy tent where ours was when we left, ya?! Who da bloody hell is in charge o' those little gits? Putting their stink on our gear??"{Out of Character Actions}OOC: Ominous d20 roll, 1d20= 7;0tASoseN1d20, and a follow up Deception check to get some info on the camp structure and division of troops, 1d20+3= 13;1d20+3. 1d20·1d20+3

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 19/19 - AC: 16 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: No As the duo walked through the camp, Chantilly couldn't help herself in looking around in awe. If she was surprised upon meeting Zakkoth, right now she was just flabbergasted at seeing all the different kinds of draconians who inhabitated the encampment. She was about to ask Zakkoth about the differences in the various sorts of draconians there, when she was cut short by another kind of figure approaching them. An half-elf. "Yes, we saw a group made up of humans and kobolds about... Three hours ago, I think. They stopped to eat something." - she answered truthfully.

Even though Eliana is use to the feeling of people staring at her, she feels a unnerved to have so many draconians staring at her. She had heard stories about what draconians did to women, and she certainly didn't wanted to experience something like that. "I'm starting to wonder if the cult hired all of these people for the attack," she says softly to Benyt. "Which makes me wonder where they got the money to do something like that."1d20

Caelin (zeroprime) and Henry (bunnycommando) The hobgoblin, the male of the two, blinks in confusion at Caelin's statement. "Uhhh...why did you have your tent in the kobold section of the camp?" he asks. "Kobolds always camp by the entrance. 'Cuz of the smell and all."
The other one, the female of the two, frowns and looks at Caelin with a bit more scrutiny. "You a merc? Or one of us?" she asks. "You seem really familiar..."
Chantilly (chantilly) and Zakkoth (igordragonian) "Three hours ago? And they still haven't arrived yet?" the half-elf complains. "Damn it, my sister is among them. Did they say anything? I don't want to have to put a search party together to find the brat, but...the sun's going down. This is no time to be lallygagging."

Though her face remains covered, the tightness in Benyt's eyes speaks to further antipathy toward the dragonmen. She hears the comment, however, and agrees. "You're right. If rumors about dragons and their hoards are true, it's probably not the purse. Some other benefactor, maybe somebody of wealth in Naraka who's stirring unrest? I don't know anything about local politics, I'm afraid. What could reasonably be gained by sacking a small village like Greenest besides some small amount of loot? Is it possible the attack was the public face of some smaller, secret goal?"

Henry looks intently at his right hand, the ring that proves he's a squire of the Knights; then slowly removes it and stores it in a pouch, seemingly more pained by this act than being stabbed by a kobold - then he moves towards the encampment, still limping a bit because of his wounds.
Even though he doesn't say anything about Caelin's worries, he nods and gently pats his companion's shoulder with his fist - maybe trying to comfort him. When the two hobgoblins approach them, the squire just grunts noncommittally what could be considered a salute, one hand on a javelin used as an impromptu cane and the other pressing against his recently tended wound on the leg. However the two hobgoblins have other ideas, and they seem suspicious of Caelin's words so he tries to distract them by telling the truth (well, at least part of it) "My leg's killing me. Can you play catch-up another time?" a low growl, not openly threatening but clearly trying to show the two hobgoblins that he has little intention to stay there and talk.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 19/19 - AC: 16 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: No Chantilly frowned, and lowered her eyes. Did they kill this man's sister?Henry's words echoed in her head, she had to be brave. " Three hours is the time it took for us to arrive here though. If they set off after they were done, they should arrive here shortly." The young girl looked around for a second: " Also, the people here seem pretty tired, if they don't arrive by nightfall, I think the best thing would send someone tomorrow first thing in the morning when everyone's rested." - she made a small pause then added: - " Are you worried about your sister?"

Caelin (zeroprime) and Henry (bunnycommando) Unnerved by Henry's growl, the two hobgoblins back off. The female one helps the drunken male one stagger off, while he passionately salutes everyone he sees along the way.
Chantilly (chantilly) and Zakkoth (igordragonian) The half-elf sighs in frustration. "She's a believer. I'm just a merc, but I joined up to keep an eye on her, make sure she doesn't get herself killed. Well, I'll go wait over by the entrance. Hopefully she turns up soon. Do me a favor, though, if you see her or anyone from her group around camp, make sure to send them my way."

"I would say we ask around, but I think that might make us stand out a little too much," Eliana admits. "But the fact that they had the aid of a dragon in the attack would also probably suggest that there is someone else working with this cult too."

The mention of his familiarity concerned him, as such he drew the hood over his head, navigating through the camp, drifting from cluster of tents to cluster of tents. He tried to listen for snippets of conversation, mention of prisoners, or loot salvaged from their raid, or anything else that would indicate the location of those taken prisoners. "1st tower staffed by kobolds, and we know they camp closest the entry gate. That's a start." He nodded his head towards the 2nd tower deeper in the camp, "2nd tower?"
