"Why do they call it a trunk?" Kori says absentmindedly, breaking the silence.

As the party pays for their meals and stands up, Lalora says, "It's called 'andā nemb.' Only humans call it 'trunk.' And there's no rhyme or reason to their languages whatsoever, I've discovered."

Ravarie stands up and looks at Kori with a confused look on her face. "...You're weird. Anyway, I suggest we head out. We probably are going to be traveling for a couple of days," she says. For the time being, she decides to lead the group just so they can get moving, but she fall back behind the warriors after a little bit.

"OH! An andā nemb! I thought this was a trunk," Kori says, holding up her fork.
"Yes, people tell me that a lot," she says to Ravarie.

Grubnick chuckles at the exchange. I can tell the creativity and comaraderie are healthy. This is a good sign. he grins

Ravarie pauses for a moment as she thinks about to the two words in common then all of the other languages that she knows, then shakes her head. "No," she says. "Fork and trunk don't sound the same in any of the languages that I know." She glances over to Grubnick when he speaks. "Creativity is an interesting way of putting it. Hunner and I have only known Kori for a very short time. Actually, I've known Hunner for a short amount of time too."

"Well, they both end in a k, and they have the same vowel sound. Well not the same, but o and u are closer together than any other pair of vowels," Kori adds, making absolutely no sense.

After gathering their belongings, and retrieving Strike and Ratt from the stables, the party heads northward, toward the large bridge that leads out of town. It's a pleasant and warm spring morning. Sorrith and Lalora take the lead, both eager to be back in the great outdoors after spending weeks on a cramped ship at sea. Zalura stays mostly in the middle of the group. She doesn't say anything, but rubbernecks a lot, taking in all of the sights and sounds. And occasionally glaring darkly at the sun above, as if its presence offended her in some way. Kudak takes up the rear. He does not speak, either, but keeps a very close eye on Grubnick. "Might want to tone down the dumb act a bit," Habbakuk warns Kori from underfoot. "I get that you think this will stop them from expecting much out of you, but if you take it too far, they might wind up deciding you're an invalid and dump you off at the side of the road, you know." ================ It is currently Fifth Watch. The party is walking north at a movement rate of 8.

"The only thing that made sense in what you just said is that they both end in K," Ravarie says.

Grubnick will try to strike up a conversation with Zalura, starting with a simple greeting. If she doesn't respond or acknowledge it (which seems likely since they don't speak any of the same languages) he'll leave it for now. Afterwards, if Kudak is making no secret of watching the goblin, he'll turn to the Mishakalite, So, Kudak, wasn't it? he asks, checking to be sure he had the man's name right. How did you come to be in the company of this diverse group?
