"As a druid myself, I feel it is my duty to make sure that isn't the case." "And if you decide it is the case, what do you intend to do to us?" the mayor asks, warily.

"I understand the need to use the forest for resources," Ravarie says. "People need to be able to survive, but if you consume too much then you are only endangering yourselves in the long run. Plus, if there are elven tribes living within that forest, you might end up with other problems if you overconsume " she explains. "But if you run into problems due to overconsumtion of natural resources, my word could hold some weight with the knights, and you might not get help especially after being warned not to do so, and having a spiteful spirit taking over the forest for that very reason," Ravarie says. Did she hold that much weight with the knights? No. Did this mayor know that? Also no.

The mayor appears confused by Ravarie's words. "But...the knights are the ones we send most of the lumber we chop down to; they are our biggest consumer. That was the whole reason they sent you to get rid of the spirit, wasn't it? So the lumber trade could resume."

"Listen, I'm just making sure it isn't an over consumption problem," Ravarie says. "It is something I will make mention to them as well."

"We harvest as much as we need," the mayor says, a bit defensively. "If you think it's too much, take it up with the knights who order it. We're just trying to put food on our tables, that's all."

"Oh, she looked like a floating pair of eyeballs and some floating skeleton hands. She was talking about how the humans were cutting down the forest and ruining it. To be honest, she was very rude. We kept trying to find a compromise, but she just hated humans so much she refused to. Actually, she had a name--a name she got back when she was a Druid, like you. Treesong, of the Wild Boar Tribe--perhaps you've heard of them? I always thought that the creatures are just named by folklore. You know, someone catches a glimpse of some eyeballs and some skeleton hands, calls it a 'wichtlin,' everybody laughs at her because she probably just saw a skeleton with eyeballs, but then rumors spread, and when they actually find one, they call it a wichtlin, because that's what everyone does. Do you suppose the first wichtlin sighting really WAS just a skeleton with eyeballs? If I was a skeleton, I'd be so jealous of all the living creatures with their organs, so I'd love to...you know. Gouge out someone's eyes and stick them in my sockets. Is that a bit gruesome? Sorry, I hope you're not too squeamish. Though I've yet to meet a Kender that was squeamish. ...actually, you're the first Kender I've met, so that statement doesn't make any sense," Kori rattles back, careful to answer as many questions as she can.

Regar comes out of his own thoughts and hears part of the conversation listening to Kori he merely nods his head.

"So where are you heading to next?" Chatty asks. "Back to Quasar-nessi? Oooh, back to the Tower of High Magickry? What's your next big adventure? Fighting a dragon? Piloting a flying citadel? Searching an ancient tomb for a forgotten artifact of great power?"

Hunner is silent and somber. Smiling gently. 'I wish to report back, so I could see my family, but I owe you all. I;ll follow you.'

"Right," Ravarie says. "Well, either way, we will take our leave then." With that said, she turns from the Mayor and starts walking about to the inn. "I certainly can see why Treesong was so angry, so much so that The Black Goat used her anger against her."

"Oh, I simply travel wherever the wind takes me--that is, wherever the other adventurers I'm with take me," Kori explains. "As long as I can keep doing good deeds, it doesn't really matter where I am--well, preferably somewhere where I can get a nice rest."

Regar shrugs "I was sent here to investigate and beyond that I have no other direction to go specifically."

Grubnick nods, I wonder if there are others in this region similarly affected, or if she will provide cautionary tale enough to prevent more people from falling into a similar trap. Would it be possible to send word to the elves of what befell her and why? Or do you think they already know?

"I guess I'm the same way," Chatty says. "The world is my road, and the wind is my guide, and wherever I'll end up next, I'll end up next."
At this point, Grubnick and Ravarie arrive and step inside the common room. The pair find they've beaten the dinner rush. Right now there are only a few patrons, and they recognize some. There's the wounded knight, still by the fireplace. Chatty is speaking with Kori and Regar. Keyle is there, as well, heavily cloaked again to hide his features.

"Treesong was Kagonesti like myself," Ravarie says. "And she did mention that how our people were caught by our cousins and turned into slaves," she explains. "So it is quite possible that her tribe has been caught by the Silvanesti. While she was angry at humans, she was also angry at elves as well, all of which she had good reason for. I have that same anger, but I want to try to free my people from the Silvanesti without causing bloodshed, hence why I'm helping the knights. I'm just not sure I can avoid bloodshed."
