"We were both about to finish our military training when the war started," Sorrith says. "I was with the Windriders, and was about to begin bonding with my griffon mount, when Silvanesti was invaded." Lalora nods. "I had just joined the Wildrunners. Because we were fresh recruits, instead of being sent to the borders, we were charged with helping with the evacuations. So we didn't see much fighting...the Red Dragonarmy didn't make it that far before...before the Nightmare consumed the forest." She shudders a bit at the memory. Upon being picked up, Habbakuk begins practically vibrating with purrs of contentment. "Amazing...she smells like catnip," he remarks dreamily in reference to Ravarie.

Grubnick nods sadly. I have seen a lot of goblins up close... he subconsciously itches at the long scar along his red-skinned face. They're much like any other group. There is great variety among them, if I'm to be any example. But on the whole, they... we can be a chaotic lot... he grins with the barest hint of sardonic mischeif. But I strive to steer my chaos towards the service of my god, rather than myself.

"Personally, I think there has been a bit too much chaos in this world lately," Lalora comments. "What's needed now is stability and peace."
"Agreed," adds Sorrith. "Can you imagine if there was a world-shaking war every couple of decades? That's not a world I would ever want to live in."

Oh I agree completely, on the subject of War. But chaos doesn't have to be violent and destructive. creativity is a form of Chaos as well. At any rate, i'm personally a few shades less chaotic than the typical members of my faith or race. But that detail is far less important than the concept, of course.

Ravarie resists the urge to squeal upon hearing the cat purr, but instead continues to pet him as she listens to the conversation. "How is creativity a form of chaos?" she asks curiously.

The goblin grins, Maybe it's just how I think of it, but Creating something... you are making a new thing or drawing new meaning from something else. A thing or a sound or whatever you are working from exists in one state, and you change that. You make it something else. For that moment of... transformation it is in a state of chaos. It is changing.
Some artists work that way, and musicians too. While i lived with the dwarves, there was a lot of order. My mentor, being a cleric of Sirrion, understood that great beauty and advancement can grow from that chaotic transition. The act of creation is an act of change, and a chaotic thing. Even these trees, he gestures to some nearby. oh, they tend to grow certain ways in certain places, but how do they know how many branches to yield? how many leaves, and how long each, and where to be posed? The Chaos of life. It Grows as a creation that continues long after the seed that bore it.
He chuckles a little sheepishly and scratches the back of his head. I ramble sometimes. But creativity and chaos and rebirth are tenants of my faith, and I see them often as one and the same. Is not an easy thing for someone like me to describe.

"You seemed to describe it pretty well," Ravarie admits. "You aren't from here, are you?" she asks.

Grubnick grins, his teeth seemingly each in business for itself. I'm from Abanasinia to the East. I've wandered for... well I guess about half of my life so far. he chuckles. But what about you? you seem to be at home in the forest. And are you from Southern Ergoth?

Ravarie nods in answer to Grubnick's question. "But it has been a long time since I've spent time within my home forests."

Hunner nod grimmly. "I had the honor to fight alongside the knight I have served. After the battle he deemed me worthy of knighthood... and now I need him to do so again."

Kori follows along, smiling at Habbakuk's affection for Ravarie.

As the party walks, they reach the large bridge that crosses the Noble River. As they walk across, Sorrith says, "Abanasinia? I would have guessed you were one of those Sikk'et Hul goblins from up north. Considering how articulate you are, I mean."
Lalora nods in agreement. "I thought all of the goblins in Abanasinia were inbred brutes that killed everything they saw."

Grubnick grins wryly. Well, by my reckoning I've proably spent half of my life or so outside of the company of most of my race. And even then I didn't honestly find much in common with them. Perhaps it's little surprise I diverged from the common behaviors of the tribe to which I was born. My mentor taught me the Dwarven tongue, and in learning it I learned a new... method of speaking as well. But I try not to make blanket assumptions... Though I will never live as many years as a half-way healthy human, or a tenth so long as an Elf, it has been my limited experience that no group is all one thing or another. He barks a coarse laugh as something occurs to him he hadn't been reminded of recently. Hells. I'm living proof of chaos. The black-sheep of goblins. He scratches his chin with long, unkempt nails. Perhaps I should grow a beard... He turns and scritches the cat Habbakuk's chin affectionately. What do you think, tiny pheonix?

"After spending a year with a group of mixed races, fighting for my life, I learned that not everyone is defined by what they are," Ravarie says.

Hunner nod. Again grimm. His mood seemed on and off. Between juvial and energetic laughing red haired man, to a brooding knight.
