"The chances of Mondath being at the entrance to that cave is low," Eliana admits. "So, we are probably looking at a handful of kobolds guarding the entrance, but Chantilly and Caelin can scout out the entrance and report back to us. Once we know what we are facing, we can make a more solid plan."

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 27/27 - AC: 17 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: Yes She listened intently to Henry, nodding as he spoke. - " I understand what you're saying Henry, but... You just sentenced her to death as well." Chantilly thought about Fenn's sister. Do bad people like them deserve to die? Even if they did, she didn't fell comfortable executing them herself. " I don't know her or what she did. But if she's behind what happened to Greenest, maybe it would be better to capture her and leave to the people of Greenest the right to decide her punishment." She scuttles forward, turning around one last time before the final stretch toward the cave, eager to leave that conversation behind: " Don't worry, Lady Eliana, we'll just check the entrance and see if it's safe."

Benyt listens to the arguments and thinks tactically before saying, "The best answer to your tactical and moral questions would be to simply smoke them out. It will make clear their numbers, they will be disadvantaged, perhaps even unarmed, and then you can decide whether to kill them. I would prefer that to fighting in dark caves, but either way if these are the people who slaughtered your villagers I say kill them and let the gods sort them out."
Her piece said, she awaits Eliana's final decision.

If we have to kill them in order to proceed with our mission, so be it." Caelin nodded towards the larger man, "For once the Solamnic and I agree on something." Chantilly then spoke, a train of thought that Caelin didn't want to entertain, nor specifically address at the moment. And finally, Benyt, while he agreed with her response to the morality of engaging the enemy, he didn't like her plan. "Smoking them out may not work, we'd need to build a bonfire, and hope the wind favored us by blowing towards the cave entrance, and then hope the fire was big enough to fill the caves with smoke, assuming there wasn't a vent, chimney, or alternate exit? Too risky, I say 'tilly and I scout it, and if we happen to kick a hornet's nest, we come runnin' out and ya'll are ready to take our pursuers, yea?"As the other's discussed, he knelt down beside Chantilly, and spoke quietly, "You don't know this woman tha' way I do, 'tilly. She's not like you, there ain't no goodness in her, none at all. She's like deep water, black as night, and will suck you under, til whatever's left, you don't even recognize as you no more. What she did to Greenest? That's the least of it, she's been havin' folks like me, them that she touched, that she tainted, killin' in Takhisis' name fer years. Ain't no ending that's enough fer the ill that she done, ya ken?" He paused, his eyes cold, focused, "'n if I get the chance, it'll be my hand that does the endin'."

"I agree with Caelin," Eliana says. "We don't know much about that cave right now. You two get going," Eliana says to Caelin and Chantilly. "The rest of us will wait."

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 27/27 - AC: 17 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: Yes " I-" - her first impulsive answer died in her throat, as she looked right at Caelin's eyes. In the short time Chantilly had known him, she had been used to see a burning rage inside of them, more rarely a different kind of warmness colored his eyes, like when he was talking to those children at the festival, or when he talked with Eliana. This time it was different, it reminded her of the first time they met. A lonely boy barking at everyone around him. She felt a deep sense of emptiness that resonated within her, even if the source of that emptiness was completely different. Her voice shakes, as she took chance of him kneeling down and hugs him: " I don't know if I'm strong enough, Caelin, but I'll fight along you." - she squeezes him one last time, before assuming a more solemn stance and steading her voice: " We'll all do. She won't hurt no one else, not anymore."

Henry - HP: 28\28 - Conditions: None - Active Effects: None
"We should remember that we're here to gather intelligence, not engage the enemy. Let's not get dragged into fights, if we don't have to." that said, Henry tries to find some piece of cover - a rock, the remains of a tent, something that will conceal him enough to not be immediately spotted. He draw the longsword, shield on his other arm, and waits for the scouting party to come back - alone, or with his enemies.

Zakkoth, Eliana, Henry, and BenytCaelin and Chantilly stalk off toward the cave entrance, while the others remain behind. The hunters continue to watch them warily, in case they try anything, but otherwise leave them alone. (OOC: How close to the cave is the party going to wait? Because last I knew, they were still at the entrance of the camp, which is about 1,000 feet away from the cave.) Caelin and ChantillyCaelin and Chantilly cross the camp to reach the cave, staying light on their feet and using cover when and where they can. Eventually they reach the mouth, and flank it from either side. Slipping up as close as they can, they can see a bit into the cave thanks to the sunlight above shining into it. About thirty feet in is a natural pillar, and just behind it are a pair of guards--Lily Knights. Night Warriors, specifically. They appear to be standing guard, although are a bit lax, and having a casual conversation. "Yesterday, I had two eggs for breakfast and I was starving," says the male knight. "Today, I had four eggs and I'm stuffed." He pats his belly. "So tomorrow--" The female knight then interrupts. "Three eggs, I get it. We don't need to talk." Looking downcast, the male guard says, "I was going to say, two eggs and one sausage..."

Caelin Valaerys, pariah of TakhisisARMOR CLASS: 16 | HIT POINTS: 24 | CURRENT: 24 | HIT DIE: 3d8 | CURRENT: 3d8 PASSIVE PERCEPTION: 15 | PASSIVE INSIGHT: 17 | INSPIRATION: 10 Caelin seemed shocked as the young woman, embraced him in an awkward childlike manner, his movements were stiff, wooden at first, before he realized her intent was to merely comfort. He nodded, somewhat awkward, somewhat embarassed by the display of emotion, of sentiment. He returned the hug, a little too slowly, as if he was unused to allowing himself to display the same emotion, or sentiment as his companion. He stood, and as they moved to the cave entrance he spoke in a low whisper, "If it comes to killing Chantilly, and you don't want to be that person, you need to fall back, get Henry and Benyt." He nodded towards the entrance, "And I'll do what needs to be done."Flanking either side of the entrance, Caelin wished he had spoken with Chantilly at length about there options. The two of them attacking from concealment, taking the guards unawares, they'd be able to use their gear, maybe get Benyt into the woman's armor, with Caelin taking the male's, chantilly skulking along with them, they might be able to bluff their way past kobolds and others, but only if they could take these two silently, and before any further guards noticed their absence. Still concealed from casual observation, he waved to get Chantilly's attention, held up two fingers, pointed to himself, and then to the woman, then to Chantilly, and the man. While she watched, he slowly drew his shortbow, and placed a single arrow on the string. Indicating he meant to eliminate the guards, he then crept forward slowly, drew back the arrow and let fly at the woman's throat, as the arrow left the string, he tucked back behind the wall, creeping to the crag to conceal himself. {Out of Character Action}I am assuming this is a surprise round, I will move out from behind cover, until I have line of sight to the female guard. I will then make an attack, with advantage, due to stealth & surprise. 1d20+7 vs AC=GnHLyP_S1d7+7, with advantage 1d20+7 vs AC=1d20+7. If successful, damage will be 1d6 (Wpn)+2d6(Sneak)+4(Dex)=3d6+4, if the attack has Surprise, this is an Automatic Crit, due to Assassin subclass, for an additional 1d6(Wpn)+2d6(Sneak)=3d6. I will then use my remaining movement to retreat back behind concealment, blocking line of sight, and use Cunning Action to Hide as a Bonus Action, 1d20+7=1d20+7.
If required, an Initiative Check 1d20+4(dex)+5(Alert)=1d20+9.
Annnnd, I don't like that attack roll, also I added +7 for some reason, instead of +6, so spending an Inspiration for a re-roll (without advantage) 1d20+6=1d20+6 vs AC. 1d7+7·1d20+7·3d6+4·3d6·1d20+7·1d20+9·1d20+6

Eliana moves her group as close to the cave as she feels is safe (200 feet) because if something happens, they need to be able to get there as quickly as possible. Though, she makes sure that there is some cover nearby (ruined tents or whatever) so they aren't readily spotted.

Zakkoth, Eliana, Henry, and Benyt Eliana urges the others to follow her to get much closer to the cave. As luck would have it, about 200 feet from the opening is a large command tent that was likely used by Mondath herself, or someone else higher up in the chain of command, before it was abandoned. The group takes cover inside, although there is nothing within anymore outside of a cot, a small table and a few chairs.
Caelin (zeroprime) and Chantilly (chantilly) Caelin moves out of cover, looses an arrow at the female knight, but misses her entirely. The arrow instead strikes the stone pillar, ricocheting off, causing both knights to start. Before they can react, Chantilly does likewise, but instead aims at the male knight. The arrow strikes true, hitting him in the chest, although missing his heart. He staggers back in pain and shock. "We're under attack! Fall back!" the woman warns. As Caelin and Chantilly hurry back toward cover, the two dark knights do likewise, falling back into the cave, disappearing entirely in the darkness.
==============
Caelin looses an arrow at Night Warrior 2 (1d20+6): 7+6 = 13, miss. Chantilly looses an arrow at Night Warrior 1 (1d20+7): 11+7 = 18, hit for (3d6+5): 3,3,3+5 = 14 piercing damage. Night Warrior 01 is now near death.

Henry - HP: 28\28 - Conditions: None - Active Effects: None
"Well, they're raiders. Makes sense they wouldn't leave anything behind. And Mondath struck me as quite astute, so I doubt she would leave anything useful for us." Henry shrugs and kneels near the ntrance of the tent, ready to go out and fight, if needed. The squire now seems much more focused, even a bit on the edge - seems quite clear he does not want to fail again.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 27/27 - AC: 17 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: Yes Chantilly turned to the little green bird: " Gale, I need you to search for the others. Be sure they follow you here! Be brave, buddy!" - before pointing toward the direction they came from with a nod of her head. Then she run toward the cave, arrow nocked in her bow following the steps of the two knights. {Spoiler}OOC Actions (I can't seem to make the spoiler work.. damn mobile!) Ok, movement+cunning action dash as needed to come in sight of the knights.
Then I'll ready my attack if we actually see the knights, priority to the male one.
