"How many stayed behind?" Eliana asks curiously. "Did the Skull Lady leave with everyone else?"

"Yeah, she's still back there," one of the hunters replies. "And the big blue dragonspawn, and a handful of warriors, and a bunch of kobolds."

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 27/27 - AC: 17 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: Yes Leaving the rest of the conversation in the hands of Henry and Eliana, Chantilly goes back to the rest of the group, after waving happily at the kind hunters. The last answer to Eliana's inquiry worried her as she looked at Caelin. The half-kender wondered if the Skull Lady was the one Caelin always ranted about. Chantilly whispers to the rest of the group: " What do you all think of what they said?"

Eliana glances back over her shoulder to Caelin, as she is worried that he might do something stupid upon learning that the people that he holds the biggest grudge against are so close by. "Do you know where the army went?" she asks. As they were hunters, she doubted that she knew where the army went, but she knew that people talked so she didn't see the harm in asking.

Henry - HP: 28\28 - Conditions: None - Active Effects: None
Henry glances at Eliana glancing at Caelin, a furrowed brow that seems to indicate he shares the same preoccupation of the sorceress; he then tur his attention back to the hunters and asks, his voice just a little bit lower "Do you know why they're still here? If she's in command, why she's not with the rest of the army?"

"Do you know where the army went?" she asks. "Scattered like the wind all over," one says, "but most of 'em went that way." She points to the west. "Do you know why they're still here? If she's in command, why she's not with the rest of the army?" The hunters shrug. "We're just the hunters. They don't tell us their plans," one says.

"Let's move on," Eliana says. She nods her head in thanks to the hunters, as it appears they aren't going to stop them from entering the camp. She falls back in line towards where Caelin is, and speaks softly. "...Are you going to be okay?" she asks.

Caelin Valaerys, pariah of TakhisisARMOR CLASS: 16 | HIT POINTS: 24 | CURRENT: 24 | HIT DIE: 3d8 | CURRENT: 3d8 PASSIVE PERCEPTION: 15 | PASSIVE INSIGHT: 17 | INSPIRATION: 1 He watched the group question the hunters, as he studied them, trying to place the wild haired, blue-eyed ranger from the Chapel with the group. He struggled to do so, but perhaps he should inquire, there was something about the man. As he thought of him, he patted the blue phial he had been by the stranger. He sighed, mentally preparing himself for the task ahead, they could guess what the cavern contained, and it was important enough not to abandon it entirely. The kender was the first to approach him, departing from the hunters and returning, asking his thoughts. He shrugged, "Don't much matter, ya? We'd assumed as much, the hunters just confirmed it." He had been studying the entrance to the caverns, it's yawning maw, the single opening visible along the cliff face, if there were no alternates means of entrance, it would mean a fight from the very start. It's likely their conversation with the hunters had been noticed, so drawing them out, or disguising themselves to gain advantage on the door guards was, similarly, doomed to failure. As Eliana dropped towards the rear of the column, Caelin nodded, she paused, spoke, inquired if he was going to be alright. He sighed, "I'm," a pause, fine, he should say he was fine. But, if he was being honest, a sigh. "Several people have spoken of truth, so maybe I should give it a try, ya? Am I going to be ok? I don't know." A shrug, "It's just, I've hated Mondath for most of my life. And here she is, and if it's over, if I kill her, or she kills me, it's done. Ya know?" A paused, looking at his hands, avoiding Eliana's gaze, "'n if it's me that does the killin', if it's me that lives. Then what do I got left? Ghosts an' regrets." He looked at her now, "'n if it's she that lives, 'n I'm gone." Another shrug, "Dunno what I did to make you hit me last night, but whatever it was, I'm sorry. Figured I'd say that 'fore tha' end, ya? Owe you that much at tha' very least."

"You're conflicted," Eliana says softly. Taking into consideration everything that Caelin had been through with Mondath, even saying that he was conflicted was an understatement. When Eliana asked if he was going to be alright, she knew that the answer was going to be complicated. First and foremost she asked because she cared, but she also had been deemed the leader of this group, so she also had to make sure that Caelin wasn't going to rush off and do something that would get him killed and possibly the rest of them as well. "I really do wish you would stop thinking about your death," she finally says as she reaches down and grasps one of his hands. "You aren't dying today, not if I can help it." She squeezes his hand tightly for a moment before letting it go.
Of course, as with any conversation with Caelin, there was a twist towards the end that Eliana wasn't quite expecting. It was also a rare sight to see Eliana embarrassed, as she absently pushed the blonde hair over her eye back behind her ear. There was a flash of blue for a few seconds before her hair fell back into place. There was even a light pinkish tint to her cheeks. "Actually, I shouldn't have done that. I've been meaning to apologize myself. I was angry that you suddenly paired me up with someone that I don't want to be paired up with," she explains. "But that conversation, if there is one, can probably wait until later."

None of the hunters resemble the strange ranger encountered in the temple. Two are women, and of the two men, one appears to have some goblin or possibly ogre blood, and the other has light hair and green eyes.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 27/27 - AC: 17 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: Yes " Is it necessary that someone has to die today...?" - Chantilly interrupts Caelin and Eliana's conversation to ask. She felt there had been enough death in the last few days. " I don't want you to die, 'lin. And it seems that her death wouldn't really do something good for you either." - she shrugs, in the end she would help him either way anyway. While the two apologized to each other about something, she started to move around the camp. That cave was calling her and she had every intention to answer! " You know how they say 'if you find an open door...'" - she turns around one last time toward the group before going forward. ...Go inside! And what was a cave if not a large open door to a mysterious path inside a mountain filled with baby dragons? How exciting!

"Scout the entrance only, Chantilly," Eliana says before the kender runs off.

Then Chantilly intruded upon their private conversation, causing him to release the breath he had been holding. He scowled at her, as she asked probing questions that he had no intention to answer. As she ran off, Caelin looked to Eliana, and shrugged. "Then let us hope there is a later," he said with a slight frown, "but for now I will try to keep her inquisitive nature on track. Give us a few moments to scout the entrance, but if it's guarded what is our play?" He was talking now loudly enough for Henry, Benyt and Zakkoth to hear, "Do we eliminate the threat, quietly, in hopes we can slip deeper into the caves without raising alarm?"

Zakkoth snicker at the exchange between Eliana and Caelin. He is a bit grimmer then usual. There aren't many of us. It preffered we use deception and ssstealth to get in' He say as he sip ale. 'Maybe we can loot the place with minimal casualties for our side'

Henry - HP: 28\28 - Conditions: None - Active Effects: None
"Well..." Henry starts saying something when Chantilly asks if someone has to die today, but he stops and grunts and starts again after a couple of moments "...I met Mondath, last time we were here. She didn't strike me as the kind of person that would just leave us be. I mean, she straight up sentenced Caelin and me to death. If she's still here and we meet her, I fear there's not much we can do that'll prevent violence."
When Caelin asks everyone how to proceed further, Henry's gaze tries to find where he was tied waiting for his death. After Zakkoth's words, the squire chimes in with his thoughts "Deception won't work; Caelin and I already tried that and you all know how it ended. Stealth might work, but not if we go all inside - we're too many and I'm not confident our enemy won't be alert. We could send a scouting party in, the rest of us laying in ambush just outside in case our companions are spotted and are pursued by the enemy." a brief pause, a sorrowful grimace "About what to do if we find guards outside the cave: these people declared war on Solamnia. If we have to kill them in order to proceed with our mission, so be it."
