When Henry and I spoke to them before our capture," he shook his head at his own failure, before continuing on, "they seemed to chaff under that allegiance. A kinder face than mine could well persuade them to provide meat and game to Greenest for a margin of Nighthill's coffers. With the casualties the town has sustained, an additional source of food over the coming year could forstall a famine, yea?"As Eliana urged the group to speak with the hunters, Caelin drifted towards the rear, where he would go unobserved, considering the tone he had struck during their last interaction with the hunters and rangers.

"Well, as Chantilly and Caelin said - we could put steel on the table to sway them. Kindness as well, some men wish to be treated with respect and what I saw the last time we were here is that the Cult didn't felt the necessity to treat these hunter with some decency." Henry asnwers Benyt with cautious respect "I'm not naive, believe me. If these hunters choose violence, I'm quite ready to offer them a different kind of steel." the squire then points with his head towards the entrance of the camp "But if manage to befriend these hunters, it would be both a victory for us and Solamnia and a loss for the Cult. The Knights have teached me that the greatest general is the one who wins without even fighting."
Henry of course follows the rest of the party, left hand on the hilt of the sword - a message for the hunters that he's ready to fight if he needs but he's not openly aggressive and threatening.

The party heads back for the entrance to the camp, entering it openly. The hunters spot them coming, and make no move to stop them or summon help. They watch them warily, though.

The Knights have teached me that the greatest general is the one who wins without even fighting.
That doesn't sound like the knights Benyt recalls from childhood tales, and it's certainly not among the popular opinions of them in Khur, where a timely poison or well-planned betrayal negates the need for great hosts to ride into battle. She was becoming curious how the Solamnics compared with their reputations.
She eyed walls and tents and shadows intently, her shield ready and spear butt tapping the earth randomly ahead of her stride. If they were able to move their entire camp with such skill, who's to say they didn't leave behind an unpleasant trap or two?

Eliana cautiously watches the hunters. "Hmm, not what I was expecting," she says softly to her group.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 27/27 - AC: 17 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: Yes Chantilly nodded at Eliana, then noting the standstill between the two groups decided to act. " Howdy! What happened here? I remember this camp being a bit more lively some days ago... Well, with less people around I suppose you could spare us some meat to buy for our travel?"

"Packed up and left," one of the hunters answers brusquely. "Well, with less people around I suppose you could spare us some meat to buy for our travel?" "None left," says another. "Just dropped off what we have. 'Bout to go hunt for more." From what Zakkoth can tell, the hunters are a bit bored, and somewhat wary of the party. They don't know yet if you are dangerous or not. Regardless, they see you as outsiders and aren't terribly social toward anyone not also a hunter or ranger.

Chantilly SweettoothHP: 27/27 - AC: 17 - Perception: 15 - Insight: 11 - Inspiration: Yes " Are you planning on coming back here? I think Greenest would be interested in buying some fresh meat. We can pay for it." - Chantilly smiled warmly at them, it wasn't long ago that she hunted in those same valleys. Now that the cultists were gone, maybe she could join those hunters and together they could help the people of Greenest.

"Got a contract with the skull lady," one of the hunter replies. "But can work after contract is done. Greenest pays as good as the skull lady?"

Wary of traps and immanent ambush, Benyt held tightly to the groan she feels building within as simpletons barter for nothing. No riches, no spoils, no glory... this was a waste of time. She wanted nothing more than to smack the hunters around until they revealed what little they might know and move on, but she knows her companions have other priorities. She holds her tongue but occasionally gives furtive, encouraging looks to the others.

Henry - HP: 28\28 - Conditions: None - Active Effects: None"Might I ask why they left you here? You must be quite important to them, since you provide the meat they require." Henry steps forward, alongside Chantilly "We would like to have a look inside the camp, if you don't mind." the squire smiles, broadly and friendly - hand still on the hilt of the sword, though; the message should be hopefully clear: Henry prefers words, but he's willing to use steel if he needs. {Persuasion Roll!}tSj13UyI1d20+5 1d20+5

"How long does your contract with the, uhm, Skull Lady last?" "'Bout a week. Then she can renew it again or let it lapse," one of the hunters says. "Might I ask why they left you here?" Another hunter shrugs. "Probably to hunt meat for the ones that stayed behind." She gestures over to the cave on the other end of the camp. "We would like to have a look inside the camp, if you don't mind." "Do what you want," the first hunter says. "Skull lady pays us to hunt, not to guard."
