Eh, Sorcerers use points to power their class abilities, not their spells. And their number of points is just equal to their Sorcerer Level, rather than a byzantine mess that works out to the same allotment of slots all caster get. Oh, well. I certainly can't hold it against you; it's your setting, after all.

I play a mystic. Mechanicly he sort of clericy sorcereor and it's fine. My issue with it is the fluff, when I play religiouse characters I have a direction with them...
for Mystic it"s a bit general, but beside that I think it can work, if you give it a place in the setting- what their role in the "ecology"?

I briefly got to play a Mystic, too. I was really excited about her, but sadly the game I signed her up for died within days (as is typical for GitP games). But the premise was she was a widowed mother of two small children, and all of her spells and powers were reflavored to reflect that persona. So Vicious Mockery was her using her 'mom voice' instead of insulting the enemy ("Mister, you put that sword down right now OR SO HELP ME!"), Cure Wounds was her kissing boo-boos, Guidance and Heroism and other buffs were her giving words of encouragement, etc. She was a lot of fun in the very brief time I got to play her.

I discovered that the Elemental Evil Player's Guide is free online for whoever wants it, so I downloaded it and looked it over. Consequently, I'll be adding the races within to my new setting--Deep Gnomes, Genasi, Aarakocra and Goliaths.
Those first three were already part of my old setting anyway, although Goliaths are new to me. I've heard of them through Critical Role, but that's about it. I guess they're some kind of giant offshoot? Or are they meant to replace half-giants entirely? I guess they were invented back in 3E, hence why I hadn't heard of them before.

Yeah, I think they're just kind of "Giant PCs but not really." They exist in my setting, as a sort of second-class Giant citizens. I have all this cool lore about them that you'll probably never see in Aftermath of Ozymandias, haha.

Are they meant to replace half-giants entirely, though? Or is there still a half-giant race, as well?

I guess they are? I've never seen any official material put out a Half-Giant Race or template. You could easily use it for a Half-Giant if you wanted.

That works for me. Rather than declare them a brand new race, I'll say 'goliath' is just another word for half-giant then.

Alright, so I've finished races and classes, and am working on backgrounds now. I'd like to come up with some custom backgrounds for the setting, but I haven't thought of any just yet. Maybe something to do with the Feywild or being raised in the wild, or something like that. Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

I've always thought of the word 'outlander' to mean a foreigner, not a feralan. I never looked too closely at it before, though, so yeah, I guess Outlander would fit for that.
Maybe I should make a background for foreigners then, instead.
Feylost is interesting, though. I've never heard of that one before.

Been thinking a bit on economy. I know every nation using the copper/silver/gold/platinum coin system is the standard, but I feel like it's not really appropriate for the Elonnori. They do little to no mining, and so wouldn't have access to precious metals or gems. Plus, that's the system used by the Ancients. So I feel they would associate precious metals with decadence.
Not sure what to replace it with. I was considering a bartering system. We could use the prices in the PHB to set standard values. So you could trade a dagger for a shovel (both are valued at 2 GP), for instance. But I'm worried this might prove too complicated. And I don't want to encourage players to haggle (I can't stand roleplaying out haggling scenes).
Another alternative is to come up with a new currency system. It'd need to be something that's not too plentiful, difficult to replicate, and not too hard to regulate. Since the Elonnori are theocratic, maybe it's something the church controls. Like some kind of special crystal that is grown using druidic powers.
What do you all think?

Maybe. Perhaps a magic flower that doesn't wilt?

And doesn't produce seeds, either, presumably. Or maybe it's just the petals that are used for currency?

That would be fun, because you could use the same abbreviations: cp, sp, and gp. For Copper Petal, Silver Petal, and Gold Petal!
