How long will this scene take, do you think? Because I was going to otherwise end the chapter and start distributing XP and such.

Depends how fast Jherek Everfull replies I don't think anything we do is going to mess with XP totals.

I did indeed, and I have not forgotten.
So it all started around the beginning of the festival. Theron had convinced Coha to join him for lunch, and briefly parted company with her to go scrounge up some grub. As he was doing this, he happened across Felicia Marche as she was introducing her older sister to the three suitors who had come to Buho to court her. Upon spotting the richly-dressed Stenn, Theron acted on a whim and picked the man's pocket. He then continued about his business as the proud new owner of a small iron key.
The problem was, Theron didn't know anything about this man or the key he'd just stolen. He wracked his little gnomish noggin for answers to this conundrum as he set about procuring food. Then, as luck would have it, he ran into Ladonna walking around the festival with the very same merchant he'd just pickpocketed! Surely, this is a fortuitous omen, he thought to himself. He managed to coax Ladonna out of the man's earshot for a brief amount of time, and offered her a favor* in exchange for information about the merchant. Ladonna seemed to consider the offer, and the two said farewell and went their separate ways.
(*I am omitting details of said favor, both because such details are still potentially relevant in-game, and, more generally, I feel like if I go around sharing all the details of Theron's secret conspiracies with the other player characters, that creates a disincentive for PCs to conspire with him in the future. Theron very much plans to do lots more conspiring in the future, so for now that particular information will stay between him and Ladonna.)
After a simple but enjoyable meal with Coha Terek, Theron met up with Katya and Jherek. In that initial conversation between Theron and Jherek in Thieves Cant, Theron invited Jherek to participate in stealing from Stenn, but neglected to provide any details (because, in fact, Theron himself possessed little in the way of details at this juncture). Then the two of them sat down with Katya, all three drank and made merry, etc. You know this bit, you were there for it.
After parting with Jherek and Katya, Theron happened upon Stenn again -- this time in the company of Amanda Marche, Ladonna's mother. He decided to make use of his lip-reading abilities to discover what the two were talking about, and hopefully suss out something that could be of use in robbing him blind. Nothing particularly pertinent to his larcenous intentions came of it, though, except the fact that Stenn had travelled to Buho in the company of bodyguards. Theron mentally noted this, then set off in search of a man by the name of Flintonn Locklass, a former PC whose player abandoned the game shortly before our three newest players arrived. Flintonn, as it turns out, has proficiency in locksmithing. The intrepid gnome was able to persuade Flintonn to lend his services in the form of a discreet consultation, and the man graciously informed Theron that the pilfered key belonged to some kind of chest.
While Lillian made music with Gerald and Coha, and everybody else danced, Theron did some other stuff that has no bearing on this narrative. Theron eventually did return to meet up with Jherek during the dance, only to come across -- guess who! -- Stenn!
Theron followed Stenn, whom it turned out was returning to his room at the Buho Inn. Of course! Theron thought to himself, facepalming. Not long after witnessing Stenn enter the inn, Theron quickly ran around the building, scanning across the second floor and noting which windows had lights shining through. It turned out there was only one open window betraying an illuminated room beyond it, at the rear of the inn. The daring thief found a tree not far from that window, climbed that tree, and there he found Stenn, penning something with a quill at his desk while a bodyguard sat nearby.
And thats...pretty much the end of it. Jherek and I had made a bunch of out-of-character plans about how we were going to pull off the robbery, but more than a few of the variables changed with the impending goblin invasion. It's possible we still could have made it work, but we finally decided the stakes were too high and the risks were too great, and...that brings us to the present, where Chapter 3 is coming to a close and precious XPs will soon be doled out!

I want to clarify that It's Ez, not Katya, who is saying fuck Stenn. That guy can eat a dick Also, re: the IC right now. It's not too late in the evening for a metaphorical gut punch, is it?

Yeah...yikes. That took a turn for the dramatic, there. If that tension sits unresolved through the end of this chapter (and it's looking like it will), I wonder how that's going to play out with the six of us going goblin-hunting together with Garnet and (two out of Ingot | Finbul | Tavos) next chapter? EDIT: Also, just a reminder that Chapter 3 has not officially ended yet, and there is still a brief window in which my offer to Nuke and GraviyEmblem still stands! If you'd like to avail yourself of Theron's epic-level schemery in exchange for one measly vote-swap, now is the time!

I didn't think some of this stuff would come up until much later in the game. But geez, what a messed up relationship.
K: Did you kill a man? J: Nope, three of 'em. K: I forgive you and promise to tell no one. J: Cool, let's make out.
It's a real shame there are no psychologists in the village. 0_0()
Anyway, I finished up XP, so as soon as this scene is done we can prep for the next chapter. I also worked on some party banter for the next mission with the potential henchmen and I'm going to start work on a map of the surrounding areas of Buho, which the reeve will show at the briefing tomorrow.

K: I forgive you and promise to tell no one. Is that what you think Katya said? "You can stop. Or..." She swallows, hard. "Or I can come with you," No. That's an ultimatum. We haven't even discussed forgiveness yet.

I don't want to see Jherek catch a smite evil to the face...he's gonna go as straight as the story allows.

Silly boys. You thought Katya was forgiving Jherek?
No. She is threatening him.
Katya is scary.
