Oh, I think I get it. Like how using a road in the mountains is still slower than a road on the plains, but faster than going through the mountains without a road.
Well, you can go ahead and roll and see what you get. The dice command would be (roll=4d6) but with brackets instead of parenthesis. So do that six times, and just mentally subtract the lowest of the four.
To be a Priest of Uncle Trapspringer/Thief, looks like you need DEX 15 and CHA 13.
We can use the racial traits for kender I use in my Past Glory game:
Kender Racial Traits • +1 Dexterity, –1 Strength, –1 Wisdom. Quick and agile, the small and wiry kender are built for nimbleness rather than brute strength. Driven by insatiable curiosity, kender lack the ability to think things through or to consider the consequences of their actions. • Small: Kender get a +4 AC bonus when fighting against gnolls, bugbears, ogres, trolls, ogre magi, giants and titans. • A kender's movement rate is 12. Kender are faster than their size would suggest. • +1 racial bonus on all saving throws. Due to their eternal optimism and inherent belief in the goodness of all people, kender manage to survive and thrive in a world that is often hostile to them. • Kender get a +1 to hit when using any kender weapons. • Even if they are not thieves, kender get 25% in all thief skills (modified for DEX and armor) except Read Languages (0%) and Climb Walls (40%). • Lack of Focus: Kender suffer a 20% spell failure for any arcane spells cast. • Taunt: Kender have an uncanny insight into the motivations and characteristics of other races. They can use this insight to unleash a verbal barrage of sarcasm, insults, and crude comments that cause the targeted victims to lose their temper. If the victim can understand the kender's speech, they must make a saving throw vs. spell (modified by WIS). If they fail, for 1d10 rounds they attack the kender wildly with a -2 penalty to hit and a +2 penalty to AC. • Fearlessness: Kender are immune to fear, magical and otherwise.

should i roll here or in one of the thread boards so as to not clutter the recruitment thread?
Side question: for rogue skills do Kender use the halfling racial bonus table? because 25% for everything except read languages and climb walls seems kind of broken (in player favor)

Okay. I've added you to the group. Do your rolling and stuff in the SotD OOC thread, not the TAT OOC thread. The TAT OOC thread is for the previous module, and I'll be moving it to the TAT forum when the other players are done with it.
Re: Thief skills. Yes, use the halflings table. The 25% is for non-thief kender (I probably should have worded that better). Since your character is a thief (or part one), then you'll build your thief skills like normal.

PersonalityEcho is a bright young woman that is cautiously curious about the world around her. While she is introverted, that doesn't mean that she is shy around people. She is rather quiet, as she would rather watch and observe. She has a strong sense of justice, and she can be prideful at times.
Appearance Echo has light brown hair that falls down just past her shoulders, but she normally wears it up in a loose ponytail. There is a slight point to her ears that give away her elven heritage, but she doesn't appear to be ashamed or even care if people notice that she is part elf. Her eyes are hazel in color.
Echo's clothing is simple in nature so that it helps with her archery skills. As she likes reds (deep reds), she wears usually white loose long sleeved shirtswith deep red vests, black comfortable fitting pants, and matching shoes. She also has a maroon cloak with a hood as well.
History Echo was born in the High Dales to a woman named Amelia Soulstaff. Unfortunately, Echo has never know her father, but she grew up hearing stories about the man. The stories were about a great mage by the name of Daos Soulstaff. While her mother was vague on the details as to how Daos and her met, and why Daos was visiting the High Dales, Amelia was very insistent that they were intended to be married one day, once Daos' life had settled down. Even though the marriage never took place, Amelia took his last name anyway. Echo's mother always swore that one day Daos would return to her, but Echo lost hope that her father would return.
Along with losing hope that her father would ever return, she also started to see the holes in her mother's stories about Daos. She didn't doubt that she had a father (otherwise she wouldn't be alive), but was Daos really her father? There weren't any answers to these questions, and Echo wanted the answers. As a result, she decided to follow the footsteps of her father (or at least follow the footsteps of the man that she was told her father), and became a mage. Maybe if she became a well known mage, maybe she could find this Daos Soulstaff that was supposedly her father.
Echo apprenticed under Tarron Kelro. Tarron had multiple apprentices, all of different levels. One of the special features of being apprenticed under Tarron is that he taught all of his apprentices how to shoot from a bow and arrow rather than using daggers or darts that most mages used as a secondary defense. Once each apprentice reached the end of their training, Tarron would send them to various places within the Dales to gather some supplies that mages would need to cast their spells. Echo, reaching the end of her training at the age of 24, was sent to Spider Haunt to gather some supplies there. As a result, Echo also decides to use this ending experience to try to learn more about Daos Soulstaff.

For anyone interested, Module Matinee is starting over at level 1 (after an unfortunate TPK), and this time we're doing Dragonlance. We have four players, which is enough, but I thought I would put it out there anyway, just in case, that if anyone is interested in some old school Dragonlancing, now is your chance.

I might add and what could be a better time to join, than when we are starting anew.

Basic rules can be found here. We're using the Tales of the Lance rulebook for this one. If you don't have access to it, you can find the class/race combos here. The party so far consists of: Female Half-Elf Fighter 1 Male Minotaur Gladiator 1 Male Neidar Barbarian 1 Male Dimernesti Mariner 1 The module will take place shortly after the War of the Lance, probably around the same time period as Past Glory does. I've granted you access to the forum, so if you want to roll, go ahead and do that in the Character Creation thread. If you have any further questions, feel free to post them there, too.

This game is kinda tempting, I'm especially fascinated by the Irda race... For a while I've wanted to get my teeth into older editions, but I don't want to be a burden to the rest of the group since I know basically nothing about old D&D.
Do you think this game would be difficult for a first timer?

No, not at all. Second Edition is fairly light on crunch, much like Fifth Edition--more so, I'd argue. Probably the thing you'll have the most difficult time with is that many of the restrictions seem arbitrary (and some of them are, to be honest). The game doesn't really require mastery to get through it. And I don't mind answering any questions you might have along the way. Plus, we'll be starting at level 1, so you needn't worry about being overwhelmed with ability or spell choice.

Welp, okay then, count me in. But be prepared because I have a lot of questions. ahah
I'm also having trouble finding D&D 2e material on the internet, not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

I went ahead and added you to the group then. You should be able to post in the Character Creation thread now. As for 2E materials, I can give you a link that got me a warning at GitP: Purple Worm. It doesn't have everything, but it has the core books and most of the splatbooks. (Ignore the Player's Options stuff at the bottom, I don't use any of that anyway.) I also managed to find a pdf of Tales of the Lance, which is the 2E conversion book for Dragonlance. It will give an overview of any differences from the PHB in regard to race and class (it includes a few new options for both that aren't covered in the PHB).

Thank you! That will be enough to give me a bit of clarity at least.
