I am also deeply engrossed in the Nemesis system in Shadow of War! It's fantastic. The fact that the enemies learn and morph as you fight them is so great!
I am also ankle deep in a Final fantasy Tactics replay. Gotta love Ramza and company.

I am also ankle deep in a Final fantasy Tactics replay. Gotta love Ramza and company. I have Shadows of Mordor, but I only got an hour or two into it so far. I have about 1800 steam games, with about 1300 in the backlog, so I've made a serious effort this year to start digging into it

That's a lot of hours chief...a whole lot a hours.
Shadow of Mordor is a good game. I understand the thirst for vengeance...been there, lived it. I get the idea of fighting for something bigger than your self...while also experiencing the small joys of completing acts of self serving violence. I identify with Talion and Celebrimbor in a profound visceral way.
Did that hat get dark? Didn't mean for it to get dark...

Yeah, I ran into a wall at level 10, Nevergrim. I get zerg rushed before I can even build anything up. Not sure how to proceed, and right now my work hours are increased I haven't really touched it since then. I really wanted to play that one myself. But like all of Paradox's games these days, it's Steam only. I still hold out hope they'll release it on GOG some day. That and Crusader Kings II. You going to make her play the original or wait for the episodic remake that is definitely totally coming out for real? Yeah, I'm not much of a completionist and I really hate grinding, so I'll probably just do the main story and quit. Yeah, that's Bethesda for you. I never buy any of their games at launch. I've been thinking about starting up a new Tactics game soon. Ever since I saw this new storyline for FF14 that uses Tactics music, and lets you go explore Rabanastre and fight Zodiac Demons and Algus. It almost made me want to restart my FF14 account, then I realized I'd probably just enjoy playing Tactics again. Not sure which class to make Ramza this time. I've done Knight, Dragoon, White Mage, Monk and Samurai so far. Man, and I thought my 24 game backlog at GOG was bad. Never played the game myself, but I always felt it sort of missed the point of Tolkien. The whole 'vengeance' thing and using dark powers for your own benefit. Then again, Shelob is now a sexy woman now, so what do I know?

I don't mind using Steam, though I have GoG as well. It's really good! It suffers from a really boring middle-phase though, and every game is really long
I've gotten her to play a bit of the early game, iirc she'd just gotten to fight the Turks for the first time in midgar. I'm kind of salty the remake is 1) voice acted and 2) not turn based though(it's that weird-but-good FFXV-y ARPG style)
You'll notice once you start going to side missions to pick up specific moves/costume parts, but Xenoverse was very clearly designed to be an MMO. So all the missions have really aggressive loot tables. After grinding like 2 dozen of the same missions i gave up.
I almost never buy games at launch, but I really liked the newer wolfensteins so I pre-ordered while I had the steam credit. I'll just wait a few weeks.
I was very aggresive in picking up game bundles when places like humble bundle first came out(and those really amazing black friday Steam sales before they scaled them back) >_> About 500 of them are really big deep RPGs too :/ There's probably about 200 which are games I've already played and just got a new copy of, which is fine.
It's still an amazing game and handles the material well. It's definitely not a mainline story though, so I don't feel too bad at how it differs from LOTR. It also plays a lot like the recent batman arkham games so the combat is really satisfying.

notARobot Civ is also fun, as Ez said(we used to play it over the internet while I was saving up to move in ) I've had to force myself to stop playing, sadly...it's too addictive. One too many occasions of playing until the sun came up, then staring bleary-eyed at the clock wondering "Where the hell did the past day go?!" If I'm ever trapped on a desert island, though...you know, one of those desert islands with a working computer and enough electrical infrastructure to power said computer perpetually -- I could entertain myself playing Civ IV for a long, long time. Oh man, I fell in love with that game so hard back in the day. I feel like it hasn't aged well though, so I'm not sure if anybody going back and playing it for the first time now can properly appreciate it...let's face it, the controls are clunky as hell and those polygons are painful to the eyes. I pirated the PC version a few years back and tried to give it another playthrough, and just couldn't do it. Not that I want to discourage you from the attempt, Ezeze -- if you can look past its flaws and soldier through till you get to the good parts, go for it! I still maintain that the materia system is the best way of handling magic that Squaresoft ever devised (although I haven't played any FF games since FF IX). My favorite Final Fantasy Such replay value! Such tight game design! Immersive story, interesting NPCs, and graphics that still don't look half-bad 20 years later! The folks who put that game together were just unbelievably talented.

I still maintain that the materia system is the best way of handling magic that Squaresoft ever devised (although I haven't played any FF games since FF IX) It's aged way better than you think- especially when you remember that all the backgrounds are pre-rendered(which is actually why the game's remake took Square posting huge losses and needing a really big game to sell to remake it in the first place- you'd have to re do every piece of art, not just upscale)- and I actually like the blocky polygon-shapes. It's definitely showing its age, but it's still a really solid like 80+hour RPG. Honestly VIII is the one that's completely fallen apart due to age. X and on are pretty boring but not terrible IMO. XI was a good MMO ruined by a brutally slow grind-game to level, and XV is by all accounts pretty good, it just took forever to come out. I agree on Materia thoughh-it's the best system I've ever seen for magic period.

Did anyone else squeal like a little girl when they saw this trailer? It was two years ago when this was announced, and like an idiot I am still waiting. I'm also still waiting for the newest Kingdom Hearts because, as I mentioned before, I'm an idiot.

Yeah, Square has really not been good at releasing games in a timely manner. It took like 10 years for them to finish Final Fantasy 15. I think they've been working on Kingdom Hearts III for 10 years or so, as well.
Okay, that was the one word you said that I recognized. You're talking about World of Warcraft, right?

I just learned that DB Xenoverse 2 came out on the Switch. I'd love to play it, but A. I'm probably too young for it at the moment, and 2. My parents probably wouldn't allow it. It took me about 3 months to let me buy Fire Emblem: Awakening (which also had a Teen rating for similar reasons).
Too be honest, I never had much of a problem with violence in video games (and cartoons...and comics...), and the other stuff is no worse than what I see on the internet every day. I mean, it's no worse than what I see on here! However, I will respect my parent's wishes and wait until I'm a NEET living in an apartment by myself to play Xenoverse 4 on the New Super Nintendo Switch U XL between writing chapters of my novels.

I looked it up, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is rated Teen for "Cartoon Violence, Mild Blood, Mild Language, Mild Suggestive Themes." The 'mild language' is the use of the word 'ass.' The 'mild suggestive themes' include 'a man staring at bikini-clad women in a magazine called “Sexy.”'
So basically, it's about on par with the actual Dragon Ball show.

Oh. Well...then why are you interested in playing a video game based on it? The entire premise is largely steeped in the show's lore and history (there's a lot of time traveling and fixing the past so things play out like they did in the show).
