So I'mma take a second and babble about Stranger Things 2, but first; Do you know why it's "Stranger Things" and "Stranger Things 2" instead of "Stranger Things Season 1 and Season 1"? Because the first script was originally written as a full length movie, but it got really complicated and the only people the creators could find to produce it was Netflix - and Netflix is looking for TV Shows to produce, not movies. {Spoiler through Stranger Things 2 episode 8} I was really nervous the entire time they had Bob on screen that they were going to turn him into a butt-monkey, since none of the kids really liked him and he was kind of doofy. Plus they had already killed off the season 1 butt-monkey, and he had that moment in the car when he gave Will really bad advice ('just face your fears' doesn't really work when your fear is a 20-story Lovecraftian nightmare monster).
I was inconsolable for, like, 20 minutes when he died. Snacs had to pause the show and get my favorite blanket before I'd keep watching.

Just finished watching the episode in question! {Spoilers!} Who is the butt-monkey you are referring to?
Also, I totes saw Bob's heroic death coming (/humblebrag). From the time they clued him into everything that was going on (even before, really), he had basically just become a convenient source of Deus Ex Machinas to drive the plot along (I loled at HA I CAN PROGRAM BASIC! I GOT THIS!). Plus, he was The Loveable Goof. The Loveable Goof really didn't fit into the tone of the story, and that aspect of his character was so fundamental that it would have required some herculean effort on the writers' part to portray him turning into somebody else.
I was hit harder by Barb's death in Season 1, even though we barely got to know her. All she wanted to do was be a good friend to Nancy, and she ultimately got killed by peer pressure! And they dragged out the whole discovering-she's-really-dead thing so long, it was agonizing!

{Spoiler}Oh, I find it very interesting that you liked Barb because I thought she was an awful human being. She kept accusing Nancy of acting 'out of character' - even though she wasn't - because Nancy having a boyfriend would have been inconvenient for her.
She was insecure and controlling.

{Spoiler} Insecure? Sure. Controlling? I think that's pushing it. If anything, Nancy was the one telling Barb what to do (getting her to go to the party, pressuring her into shotgunning that beer) -- not the other way around.
When they first showed up at Steve's, Nancy was all, "Stop me from getting too crazy" or something along those lines. Barb was acting with her friend's best interest in mind throughout the whole thing.
You don't think Barb trying to nudge Nancy away from Steve might have stemmed from Barb being clued into Steve's jerkishness? The way I saw it, Barb saw Nancy making a mistake that she would soon come to regret, and was just doing her best to try to protect her.
Also... Did anyone else pick up on the graffiti in the warehouse, when Eleven was hanging out with Eight and her gang? "King Mob", "O'Bedlam", and "Barbelith" are all references to Grant Morrison's comic The Invisibles (a Vertigo title I highly recommend if anybody here is into comics).

Yeah, I was making a joke. Personally, Super Smash Brothers is my favorite game Fun Fact: I spent about 1/3rd of my time at University playing some version of Smash Bros. I need to catch up. I'm on season 3-ish of Agents of Shield when I stopped last. So many things to keep up with @_@. Ez and I saw Thor:Ragnarok like 2 days ago. It was... Weird. Like 'what is pacing?' post-modern post-disney deconstruction weird. But fun, in a schlocky sort of way.

Tomorrow, on Netflix! I won't get to binge watch like I did for the previous Marvel shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Defenders), because of work and all, but I am looking forward to it.

Started on yet another new show. Marvel's Runaways. Never read the comic (never read any comics, really), but I'm enjoying the show so far. It's about a group of kids who discover they have powers and that their parents are super-villains.

I'm only two episodes in so far, but yeah, it's pretty good. Plus, it has a Deinonychus in it. So what's not to love about that?

Snacs and I have started watching Jessica Jones. He is mostly upset that Kilgrave is really bad at using his power

I think Jessica Jones is my favorite of the Defenders series so far. I'm really looking forward to season two.
I'd argue Kilgrave was the scariest Marvel villain introduced so far. He'd even be a threat to the Avengers.

We are only a few episodes in so we haven't seen enough of Kilgrave to say how scary he is But, I don't think he'd be a threat to the avengers. Captain America and Vision, at a minimum, would both make their will saves and Iron Man could always just send one of his automated suits - I don't think Kilgrave's powers are going to work on an AI
