Ravarie finishes off her wine, and stands up to gather her stuff for the next fight. She doesn't much care what her master looks like, but she makes sure to listen to what his answer might be just in case.

Grognak growled at the sight of his "master." He could tell that Bulbos despised him, and the feeling was mutual. Still, he let him speak-for the moment.

"Oh! Sure!" Teakettle responds to being told there is a match.
She runs over to Grognak first "hold on to this!" She tells him with the air of an order, before thrusting the bottle of greek fire into his hands.
Then she goes to grab her gear.

Runt wasn't dumb enough to ignore the ogre's comments, nor his unhappy expression. He had planned on savoring the wine, but its burn in his stomach would have to make up for it-he quaffed it in a hungry, single gulp and set the mug aside. Despite their Master's unhappy countenance and the specter of looming death in the arena the old Draconian seemed happy enough, his stubby tail whisking briskly behind him as he quickly readied himself for muster.

"Ahh, just got out of a meeting with the other masters," Bolbus explains. "Attendance is way down, and we're trying to brainstorm ways to drum it back up. It's not going well." He brings two meaty fingers up to pinch the bridge of his nose. "Nobody can come up with any good ideas, or explain why things are going so poorly. If things don't change, I might well have to sell you all off before you start costing me more than you earn." Shaking his head, he adds, "It's a real mess."

"What you need-" Teakettle starts offering her advice, unasked, from across the room. "-is a headliner! Someone whose name really draws attention."
She nearly falls over pulling on her armor "Just think about it; 'this week only, come see the remarkable Teakettle! She sings, she juggles, she acts, she beats the pants off some bad guys!'"

"My heart breaks to hear it, sir. To think that our shedding the blood of beast and man might one day lose its attraction," Dorias deadpans. "Surely there are some semi-regulars who no longer attend the bouts that you could interrogate as to why they've stopped coming? Could it be that the arena has gained some secret competition? Perhaps someone is offering something more...exciting...for the punters to attend to?"

“If we not make money, why not let us go?” Grognak inquires. He knows full well that this is almost certainly not a possibility, but he figures it would infuriate the ogre, which was reward enough for him.

Bolbus chuckles with good nature, in spite of his sour mood. "Were it only that easy. But none of your names draw big crowds anymore. People used to show up just to watch you go squish. But I think once they figured out you were going to keep surviving, they lost interest."
"Without me hearing about it? Impossible. I've got my fingers in every entertainment industry in Daltigoth. Even if it somehow came to be without me noticing, surely one of the other masters would have. But the meeting proved none of us know what's going on." The ogre shakes his head. "I think the truth is, people get tired of the same old, same old. Excitement burns out sooner or later. That's why we need to find the next big thing. There's even been talk of bringing back death matches...but many worry that the cost of losing slaves to death would outweigh any new revenue it might bring in from more ticket sales."
"Because you're mine, and I don't give up anything for free. Although in your case, I might just grind you up into dog food. Then you'd have some value, at least!" the ogre snaps, in no mood to deal with the half-goblin.

Ravarie quietly listens to all of this. "If there is no risk of a death, that makes things less exciting for the audience," she says. "Not that I really want to die," she adds.

Ravarie quietly listens to all of this. "If there is no risk of a death, that makes things less exciting for the audience," she says. "Not that I really want to die," she adds. “Beastfriend right,” Grognak agrees. “More kill, more fun; for Grognak AND watchers.” He realizes he is still holding Teakettle’s greek fire, looks for a place to put it, and after failing to find one on his person, sighs and passes it to Runt before adding, “Besides, you want kill us, do it right. Maybe get all best warriors and have us fight. Very exciting. Watchers will be excited to see Grognak, and Small One, and Beastfriend, and Lizard, and...Other One. Happy to see us die. Maybe.”

"Whoa, whoa, whoa - let's not get hasty here" Teakettle says when Ravarie and Grognak propose that more lethality is the solution.
"I'm sure we could figure out what was going on with attendance if you let us out to talk to people" she offers, a grin on her face.
Bolbus was going to say no. Probably. Most likely. But maybe not....

"Look, sometimes death happens in the ring," Bolbus says. "And people do show up in hopes of seeing it. But we can't just go around having constant death matches. Slaves cost coin, after all. If you all die, I need to not only buy new slaves to replace you, but then spend a lot of steel to train them back up again. Anyway, the other masters and I are still debating it. Maybe we can come up with something big. In the meantime, like I said, you guys have a match. And try and put on a show, okay? Put a little pizazz in your performance. Do some showy stunts. Otherwise, I and the other masters might have to do something drastic."

Teakettle nods. She's geared up, and as ready for the fight as she is going to get.

"I can only do so much," Ravarie points out. Without wildlife or plant life around, she couldn't really do a lot of the showy stuff she knows how to do.
