With that decided, the party ascends all the way back up to the first floor.

Back at the camp, Malavar fills Krah in on events below. He then sets about tending to the wounds of his comrades and once he's done what he can, he begins cleaning the mail he recovered from the skeleton as best as he can.

Drezden goes surface side to see how the horses and mules are faring along with Krah.

Krah is still with the animals, and they seem fine so far, although the icefolk does hope they finish soon, as he's worried the weather might turn nasty soon.

(OOC: I assume Malavar will look after three patients with his healing NWP? Which ones, if so?)

OOC: Jaxle, Dallion, and Taska, I think.

As they rest Dallion studies his spellbook and commits the words for a spell to wrap his body in magical energy protecting him.
"This tower has many protections, we need to figure out a way to defeat them with out one of us dying."

The party gets some rest, with Malavar looking over Jaxle, Dallion and Taska as they rest. Everyone has a dinner of dried rations (Dallion sharing with Malavar again), and water is easy enough to get by melting some snow from the surface.
The following morning, everyone feels a bit better--especially Jaxle, who is back to tip-top shape. Dallion is still bloodied, but at least feels better and Taska's injury has been reduced to merely a minor flesh wound.
===========
Drezden regains 1 HP. Jaxle, under Malavar's care, regains 2 HP. He is now at full health. Dallion, under Malavar's care, regains 2 HP. He improves to seriously wounded. Taska, under Malavar's care, regains 2 HP. She improves to lightly wounded.
It is now Mirtul 23rd. Casters may choose new spells for today.

Taska agrees to stay behind and watch over the animals, while Krah takes her place in the group. The group then descends back to the fourth level to decide their next move. Should they take the spiral staircase in the skeleton room, or trek back to the strange portcullis room and take those stairs instead?

"I vote for continuing down the spiral stairs to see how far down we can go. Now we know there's another way down to the lower levels we can treat this tower as a single space to explore and then head back up to get into the main body of the building."

With that decided, the party descends the spiral staircase. Drezden carries his lantern, so that Krah can still see as he is the only one present without the ability to see in the dark. The end of the staircase deposits them in a small room. To the west is a locked door and to the south is another staircase that seems to descend even deeper into the tower. ==========

Drezden walks to the base of the other set of stairs and takes a look for as far as the lantern will luminate.

Malavar looks over the locked door for any markings or particulars of its construction that could give him a clue as to what might lie beyond.
OOC: I.e. is there anything about the door to suggest whether we might be entering a guardroom, a treasury, a lab, a dungeon, and so on. Could be anything from unusual choice of wood to being unusually heavy or reinforced, or maybe just some giveaway symbols carved into it.

From what Drezden can see, the stairs end in a small room with a couple more doors, and that's about it.
Malavar inspects the door. Aside from the obvious lock, it doesn't appear to be any different from any other door they've encountered so far. It's made from the same materials and there is no writing or symbols carved upon it.
