The battle rages on. Taska manages to parry a strike, then stab the skeleton in the skull hard enough to break it off. The rest of the bones collapse to the ground, leaving only Jaxle's opponent and the two fighting Drezden. Jaxle takes another cut from his opponent, but Taska steps in to help him and shatters it with a well placed strike. She then turns and attacks one of the two that is fighting Drezden, damaging it badly. Drezden gets in a lucky hit and destroys that one, as well. Drezden lops off the head of the final skeleton, which causes its body to crumble to pieces. Meanwhile, Taska and Dallion go into Malavar's pack, retrieves the two healing potions within, and feeds them to both Malavar and Dallion, healing them to the point of consciousness again.

Malavar gasps for air as he returns to consciousness, momentarily disoriented. Pulling himself into a sitting position, he takes in the scene. "Tempus be praised, victory is ours. And thanks to your quick thinking, Captain, it appears that I am still here to share it with you. I am indebted to you," he says to Taska as he struggles to his feet.
"Friends, if it's all the same to you, I suggest we retreat outside until I can beseech the Lord of Battles for healing magic. Right now, I have none."

"Well, I guess the ancient secrets down here aren't going anywhere," Taska admits. "Although I loathe the idea of returning to the freezing cold above. Not that it's much better down here, but at least there's no wind or snow."

"If we clear out the topmost room then we could perhaps use that as our main camp. I don't know if we'll be able to coax our animals down there, but it will keep us out of the wind, at least," Malavar offers.

"We can hardly bring our animals down through the trapdoor, so unless we want them standing around in the woods it'll have to be the room with the hole in the ceiling. It's not ideal, but it still provides more protection from the elements than our campsite outside. The other option is to put some more work into our current camp. For instance, we could probably construct windbreaks to keep the worst of the wind off us," Malavar suggests.

"Seems like a solid idea, especially as I'm not sure how exactly we're going to lower the animals into the tower, much less pull them back up when we're done," Taska says.
Once back on the top floor, the party finds things as they left them. The mysterious and ominous cauldron still sits in the middle of a circle of runes painted on the floor. There's still a hole in the ceiling, and a rope dangling down from it. The sun still streams through the hole, revealing that it's still afternoon; not much time has passed since they first arrived, maybe an hour or so at best.
