With that decided, the party returns to the inn. The common room is, as always, completely bereft of people--aside from the innkeeper himself, that is, who is currently sweeping the floor. The floor does not appear dirty, so it seems he's just trying to keep busy.

"It seems we'll be your guests for one more night, innkeeper. Our elvish friends are in need of drying out after our underwater excursion and I need a good night's sleep. But first, some food and plenty of ale, if you please," Dorias greets the innkeeper with a tired look on his face.

"Not a problem, I just happened to have something cooking for lunch," the innkeeper says. "Amalia came by this morning with a few hares, so I hope that will do."

"We are leaving for Zhea Harbor tomorrow," Ravarie says. "I hope to send a cleric of the Blue Phoenix here to help out your village."

"Oh? You think a priest will be able to deal with this fish corruption?" the innkeeper asks Ravarie with curiosity.

"I'm not really sure, to be honest," Ravarie admits. "But a stronger presence of the Blue Phoenix couldn't hurt, right?" she asks. Before Dorias goes to his room to get some rest, she prays to the very God she speaks about so often to heal him a couple of times.

"I imagine most of the village won't argue with that," the innkeeper responds. "Excuse me, let me go get that food ready." He heads into the kitchen.
Ravarie then calls upon the Blue Phoenix to heal up Dorias more, leaving him only with a single minor injury remaining.

When the innkeeper returns with the food, Dorias is quick to tuck in. Between bites he asks the innkeeper: "Has Varvil ever suffered from attacks by aquatic hobgoblins?"

"Aquatic...hobgoblins? I can't say I've ever heard of any such incident," the innkeeper admits. "There is a tribe of land hobgoblins that sometimes harries travelers, but they tend to leave the village itself alone."

"Then I hope it remains that way. You see, as we were exploring the harbour, we came upon a cave in which a group of koalinth - aquatic hobgoblins - have taken up residence. The fact that you've never encountered such before strongly suggests that they are recent arrivals and that they may either be causing the corruption of the fishing grounds or protecting whoever is doing it," Dorias explains.
"Sadly, we were ill equipped to force the issue, so for today discretion had the better of valour. As Lady Ravarie said, it is our hope that we can find a true priest or other magic user in Zhea Harbour to deal with your problem, or to provide us with the magic needed to bring the fight to the koalinth on even terms."

"Fascinating!" the innkeeper exclaims. "And rather clever, too. Who would have even thought to look under the waves? But...hmm, yes, I see what you mean. I can't think of any way to get down there without some kind of magic. I doubt even Amalia could hold her breath that long."

"Hopefully, this village will be all right until then though," Ravarie says.

"We folk of Varvil are hardy and tough," the innkeeper says. "We've had to be, after everything we've been through. We will weather this, as well."

"I am pleased to hear it, innkeeper. The gods do tend to help those who help themselves, or so it seems to me," Dorias replies. "Well, there's still plenty of daylight left, but I think I will take a nap after this fine meal, and later a hot bath if you can manage that, good sir."
